It's certainly a cantina store restaurant like we know well in Mexico. The hard surfaces reflect a lot of noise. I had to change my heating aid settings to focus only on my husband. Rather than a huge menu, it offers a very carefully curated menu of items that we have tried many of which are all delicious. Their appetizers are outstanding. We have ordered probably something of all of their options for entrées, all great super delicious. In addition, you have to try their margaritas. Their bar is great and their margaritas just are outstanding. Even enjoy getting one with the additional high level patron. It has gotten bigger, and yet the ambience is still really lovely. Service is always just right on spot. We enjoy their food so much that way often just do carry out. One of the nicest things that happened is that they now take reservations. We love this place. We know they have a bigger place on route one and we just love the one on 2nd Street the best because it's more personal. But they are both same food and outstanding places to eat.

All joking aside we really liked the atmosphere and food here. Has a sports bar vibe but very much a beach, outdoor restaurant. Servers were all extremely friendly, checked on us often and made plenty of conversation. We started with the Cheesesteak Eggrolls, huge. Common theme with all the portions! Definitely a lot to eat as a starter, needed a little salt. Entrees were the Scott Van Melt & Famous Turgeon Tenders (on the Light Fares/Starters). Both were so good, I dare to say the tenders were some of the best I've ever had. Love spicy food and this scratched that itch! Super super tender. Only negative, not really a negative more of a small disappointment were the crushes. Everyone had said this was the place to go, they market themselves as the best. These were extremely liquor forward, maybe just a heavy pour, but not at all our favorite. Wish there was a bit more flavor, orange and bourbon were the ones we tried.

So delicious. We got two crab dips for the table to share. I tried some and it was tasty but I only had a little because it was pretty salty. It's like the chef threw together a bunch of dishes on the menu and decided to add a few Irish dishes. Not even any Irish beer, except Guinness. Food was decent but not memorable. The inside is very loud so having a conversation is tough. We sat outside which was pleasant but all the drinks come in plastic cups. I hate beer it plastic cups. Service was good but with all the vacationers and folks going to the theater the kitchen was stretch thin. If you go over the summer plan some extra time and maybe an extra drink Would I go again, probably not in the summer and not to expect an Irish Pub

The portions for most of the food is deceptively large and all scratch recipes. You will be leaving with take-out boxes for sure. The Service was pretty awesome. Last summer, my wife and I discovered First State, which at the time was still new. Dallas was our server the first time that we ate at First State, and then we were lucky enough to have him again this time and he remembered us. Before we could get a word out he said "Hey, welcome back!" like we had been friends for years. BEST SERVER EVER! Extremely attentive without crowding our table. Very knowledgeable. I suspect that that is a reflection of the whole staff. The hostess was pleasant. A bit quiet but pleasant. The bartender, Joel (?), seemed fun and engaging. He welcomed everyone like they were regulars, and really looked like he was enjoying his job. Even the young kid that dropped our food was on point, setting our dishes in the right places without asking. Making sure that we didn't need anything before he left. The whole experience was great. I'm a fan and we will be back. The atmosphere and vibe was fun and relaxing. Not your standard rush to order, eat fast, and "here's your bill" sit down restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and it is open and spacious. The place has that great neighborhood brewpub vibe feel. We LOVED the beer label walls! I want to do that in my man cave! Awesome idea. The large TVs were playing a variety of sports. The music was pretty good. Maybe a touch loud. They have live music that seemed to be setting up as we were leaving. Apparently they have live music every Friday and Saturday. We wish that we could have stayed. Dallas said that the band coming in that night was pretty popular. All in all, First State was a fun, and delicious dining experience. my only criticism would be that it is a bit pricey. I understand that scratch restaurants are going to be more expensive, but charging someone for a small container of sauce seems a little like nickel and dime budgeting. Understandable but not attractive All in all, First State is a great time. Ask for Dallas. He's next level service and you'll leave with a new friend. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR FIRST STATE!!!!
