I've been a local coming to the Farmer's Market for 15yrs. My mother was in town and I brought her here. She ordered the caesar salad and it was the saddest excuse for food there is. The "chicken" was processed and looked worse than what you'd get out of a can. There were 4 pieces of that with a plate of wilted lettuce and Parmesan cheese that comes out of packets. It was $15 and it was appalling. This place should be ashamed of themselves for this highway robbery. Save your money and go to Trader Joe's across the street for a salad that doesn't resemble garbage. My mother deserves a refund. She was thoroughly taken advantage of. read more

I've had the pizza and it's scrumptious and my most recent encounter with Marco was simply delightful. The location in the market is great for people watching as well as enjoying your food. I discovered this pizza place while visiting the farmers market or the forest. I was tempted to buy pizza after noticing many people doing so. This pizza joint supposedly it was the first to served pizza in LA, so the story goes, and it's a significant one. Why don't you try it then? Being from New York this place is one of those pizza joints that tastes almost close to New York pizza. I mean it was pretty good. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and got two meatballs to go. The pizza was really good, that I wish I just got a whole pie. The meatballs me and my wife ate later which we thought was fantastic. The customer service was less to be desired. They were friendly but what's annoying is tending to another customer while tending to me and having me wait. The cashier was ringing me up and told the lady who was getting the slice of pizza but all of a sudden some lady walked up yelling "do you put eggs in your pizza dough" and something about how severely allergic they are. And all because of this situation the lady stopped getting my pizza and asking others if they use eggs or not. So I now had to wait to pay and get my food. I was hungry and stopped here for a couple slices before meeting friends for lunch somewhere else. I enjoyed the N.Y. style pie very much. The sauce was delicious, not bitter like some places. There are literally hundreds of places to eat inside the Farmers Market. If you've ever been here on a weekend you know that its a madhouse filled with locals and tourists and all of them want to eat at the same time as you. Yet in this sea of people and dizzying signage wanting you get your attention and business...somehow Patsy D' Amore's made the cut for our final meal selection. The food is descent and its definitely made fresh just for you. Especially if you're in the mood for a meatball sub. The sub was assembled with plenty of sausage, globs of sauce, cheese and placed in a brick oven for a few minutes. What I got back was a satisfying sub worthy of a repeat visit. It would be nice if their beverage selection was a bit more robust but perhaps they're doing us a favor by not offering so much soda? OVERALL: Im not in a hurry to come back here. As mentioned before there is sooooo much to choose from inside the Farmers Market. However if you need to eat pizza, subs or pasta...,maybe even a salad I say give it a try. The dough/crust itself 'ok' on the chew, lil flavor though. Sauce itself was on the sweet side...no balance to it, no tomato brightness or freshness to it. Wish they hit it with some herbs. This place is located at the Farmer's Market in The Grove. A calzone ($10) is one of the few items that are made-to-order here. The size is decent and can be shared. The sausage was fairly generic. I liked the ricotta cheese filling, but there was so much more of it than anything else that it overpowered the few, included ingredients. The house made marinara sauce was chunky and flavorful. I am still on a business trip in Los Angeles. So, I wandered over to the Farmer's Market again. There is one place I've wanted to check out. But, due to the lineup there, it really wasn't an option. I still had work to do and had to get my food pretty quick. I chose D'Amore's Famous Pizza. The staff was super friendly. I ordered Spaghetti Marinara and Garlic Bread to go. In about five minutes, my food was ready. She neatly packed it. When I made it back to my hotel, it was still very warm. It was a basic spaghetti dish. How does an employee of a long, family-run establishment get away with yelling at people, especially a child?! My cousins were visiting from out of state, so I decided to take them to the Original Farmer's Market in LA. We strolled through the numerous shops and the youngest one pointed out that he wanted pizza. We walked up to the counter of Patsy's Pizza and the tall man behind it greeted us and was quite kind in explaining what they offered. I stepped away to take a phone call. When I went back to Patsy's pizza stall, I found my female cousin giving an older woman behind the counter her order. My younger male cousin was extremely excited and also exclaimed what he wanted to the woman. I didn't think much of it, until the older woman, now visibly angry, suddenly SHOUTED at them both to stop talking. My female cousin stared at her while my 10-year male cousin looked at her and then at me with wide eyes. I was shocked as I couldn't believe my ears that this woman was so blatantly rude to paying customers. We were visiting in the early evening hours (right before dinner time) and there was absolutely no one else waiting to order at their pizzeria. Perhaps this woman had woken up on the wrong side of the bed or she had dealt with horrible customers hours before we arrived, but it gave her no right to be shouting at my family in such an offensive manner. If it weren't for the fact that my younger cousin wanted pizza, I would have no doubt pulled them all away and promptly cancelled the order. The pizzeria may have been in this location for 70 years, but this poor show of service is disgraceful to the family's name. Completely deplorable. I would HIGHLY recommend visitors to check out other food stalls rather than give their hard-earned money to this business, especially if that awful, uncivil woman is still there.
