Hangover food

First and last time I eat their pizza. Greasy thin crust, should have just suffered and dealt with no parking and picked Dominos for price of medium cheese and garlic bread sticks.

a slice of pie on a plate

I just ordered a calzone and garlic bread. With Root beer it came to almost $30. What I received was more like two slices of stuffed pizza and it wasn't that well stuffed and the ingredients were mediocre at best. Their ricotta tasted like cream cheese and they probably only threw a tablespoon or two in. I asked for spinach and ham and I can find about three shreds of spinach in it and the ham looks like the pre-package cube ham they put in 7-Eleven salads. The whole thing was generally disgusting. The dough was like eating a cheap Walmart sheet cake. The size was absolutely ridiculous for the price they made it out of A 12 inch pizza dough and the same for the garlic bread. You couldn't pay me enough to eat at this place again. The kids making the food we're friendly and seemed pretty sharp but that's absolutely the best thing I can say about this place. Definitely a one out of 10. An absolute zero for value. I've owned restaurants and eaten at least hundreds of good New York calzones and this place wasn't even in the same shooting range and never mind missing the mark. this is incredibly disappointing because Ithaca used to be full of great Italian food. And this place has the audacity to call it self the pizza of the finger lakes. Way to discourage tourism pats.....

My partner and I have been loyal Franco's customers for many years. We usually grab slices or a pie…read moreto go. Last night, we had a non-stellar experience around 7:30-8pm. There were just 2 other diners, and staff were mostly standing around talking to each other. My partner asked for our toddler's slice to be warmed up "10-20 seconds, it's for a baby" when we received the slice *a few minutes later* it was so hot I burned the roof of my mouth when testing it for her. FIVE MINUTES LATER we received our personal slices which had been left in the oven so long the crust was burnt to a crisp. When I said "excuse me, this is burnt" to the counter person, they looked at me with a blank stare and then proceeded to walk away. As a former server, maitre d, and FOH manager, I know this is not how you appropriately handle a situation in which a guest is upset before even touching their food. There was no offer to replace the (literally black crusted) pizza, no "sorry" no ... anything. Instead, a blank stare as they went back behind the counter to continue their conversation with the pizza cook. The pizza is still great, but if this is what Franco's thinks qualifies as half-way decent customer service - they have some issues that need correcting. I don't know if we'll be back; maybe we will just continue taking to go instead of trying to enjoy a meal on-site.

I asked my real estate agent what was the best pizza in Ithaca. No hesitation she said Franco's…read more Cool little spot reminds me of a drive in a bit with the upfront parking and the big windows. Nice lofted space with high ceilings and the pizza opens prominently displayed smack dab in the middle. Great selection of Neapolitan and Sicilian slices. Italian sodas and desserts. We tried an assortment some garlic knots. Everything with delicious. The Sicilian was particularly airy yet crisp. Pretty good. Definitely agree with it being on of the best pizza spots in Ithaca I have tried to date.

Server also didn't write down our orders, and then brought out one of the orders incorrectly... which, unfortunately, my friend didn't feel like she could send back because everything was taking so long. Food itself was okay... but could use more flavor. For example, a friend and I split the lobster corn fritters (fresh Maine lobster, sweet corn, asiago, cilantro, honey mustard, and sriracha). The fritters were almost entirely corn, and I tasted no hint of asiago or the cilantro (and I like cilantro, so I tend to pick up on the taste pretty easily... but there was nothing). The pizza I ordered for my main dish was fine... if perhaps a bit undercooked. One of my friends ordered a pizza with tomatoes on it, and it came out with large, rectangle chunks of tomato covering the pizza (red and yellow tomatoes). At first, she though the yellow tomatoes were pineapple chunks because of the size. She figured out they were tomatoes, but the amount of them on the pizza itself made it a bit awkward to eat. Ambiance was interesting. It feels welcoming enough, but the door to the outside patio was open and there were numerous flies that would seemingly dive-bomb my friends and I during our meal. Because the door was open, it was also a bit muggy inside the restaurant itself. Anyway... would I/we rush back? Probably not. And I certainly wouldn't grab lunch here again just because of how much time it took.

I got take out and it was ready when I requested & brought to my car. Tasty calamari and…read morefries--appetizers are always a win and these didn't disappoint.
