PATRICKS (Ocean Springs) If you haven't tried Patrick's in OS you're missing a true OS Gen of a locally owned upscale restaurant. The restaurant is located in a tiny little 100 year old cottage tucked away on School street. When you walk in the door you immediately think wow this is cute but very small. There are about 20 tables or so. Small bar area and a tiny kitchen. Don't be fooled - these folks know how to bring the flavor. That tiny kitchen rocks. we started out with drinks. Hubby had the old fashioned which was excellent. We ordered sautéed crab claws which have the essence of New Orleans bbq shrimp with all that delicious butter and lemon. Next came our salads. Salads were typical but the homemade dressings were the sho for the salads. I ordered the Squash, Crab and Shrimp Casserole and my husband had the crab stuffed triple tail. We both ordered the drunken greenbeans which are excellent. So good I'm going to try to make them myself. Dinner followed up with homemade family bread pudding recipe which sadly we had to bring it home with us becaus we were both so full we couldn't eat another bite. Our service was excellent. The ladies are so nice. Our bartender made sure our drinks never ran empty and we had two amazing servers who ensured everything came out in a timely manner allowing us to finish's one course before bringing out the next. Everything was prepared as we ordered it and came out piping hot. This little place has won a spot at our top five restaurants on the gulf coast for special occasions. Although I will say we just popped in yesterday wearing jeans and flip flops. No requirement to dress up but I'd you want to make it a fancy occasion that would work too. Our entire meal for wine, old fashioned, salad course , two entrees, side dish, and dessert was $166 plus we left a nice tip. Highly recommend Patrick's. You won't be disappointed. read more

Well, we had high hopes for a fine dining experience, but were left with a mediocre experience. The menu has high prices, which is fine if the food quality and taste blows your taste buds away. This restaurant was recommended to friends of ours as the "best seafood restaurant on the Gulf Coast". That person must have been hallucinating! We were hesitant before we went and saw how small but pricey the online menu was considering this place is just a converted house with about 8 tables but thought we would give it a try. The food was very poor quality and even more poorly cooked and the prices were ridiculous for what we got. The $46 "stuffed shrimp" was all stuffing with very tiny shrimp and cost the owner $10 at the most. The gumbo was all broth with only 2 shrimp and no rice. The "8 oz" filet could not have been more than 4oz at the most. A very disappointing and very overpriced night out. We would never go again and definitely never recommend Patrick's to anyone. read more

Size of crowd suggests they are in trouble I know the ice tea is a big profit maker in restaurants, but $5.00 is ridiculous; especially when you have to hunt down the waitress for a refill Both of the casseroles tasted eerily alike and were thin on crab considering they were $40 apiece. We visited family and they took us out to dinner at Patrick's. It was the first time my boyfriend and I visited. Patrick's has high quality dining and a great atmosphere. We really enjoyed the special features, Mahi Mahi with seafood sauce and the egg plant au gratin. Aside from those we had crabmeat au gratin too. Our food was spectacular! Salads came with the meal and the home made blue cheese was delicious. Dessert was just the right amount of bread rum pudding. Everything was perfect! In town for a bowling tournament with a group of 13. Randomly ran into this restaurant at the last minute (15 min before closing) and they accommodated us with open arms. Customer service was excellent and food was superior. Best hidden gem in the area. Chef came out to meet us and we applauded him for delivery such great food. First time back since Jocelyn's closed, and Patrick's is every bit as good. Crabmeat au gratin (my favorite) with bourbon-glazed green beans with bacon as the side, salad, bread, and dessert of warm bread pudding (perfectly spiced, with sweet rum sauce) - all included for price of entree. Service was quick and friendly; in fact, our appetizer of crab claws came out with our salad. I had no room for dessert, so it was boxed to go (and still delicious when reheated). We dine here regularly. The ambience, service and food are beyond compare in this area, in fact, anywhere on the Gulf Coast. Tonight was Valentine's Day and they did not disappoint! The stuffed triple tail with lobster sauce was the best seafood dish I've had on this continent! My wife had the seafood casserole which is also to die for! And all entrees come with an individual dessert portion, which is perfect. Patrick's is our go-to place when we want great seafood. The staff are friendly and efficient. Patrick cooks up his grandmother's (Jocelyn) famous recepies and has some great ones of his own. His stuffed soft-shell crab is the best seafood I have ever put in my mouth. If he has it in when you go, I highly recommend it. Also recommend the marinated crabclaws. My wife and I loved to visit Jocelyn's for our special occasions, so we were so excited to see that her grandson, Patrick, had reopened the restaurant. Crabmeat augratin was our favorite dish and Patrick's did not disappoint... it was DELICIOUS! A perfect blend of cheese and butter and tons of jumbo lump crabmeat! It is worth every bite and they provide fresh baked bread to soak up any remaining buttery, cheese sauce. The meal does come with a fresh garden salad (although I do miss the pickled green bean and hard-boiled egg that his grandmother used!) with homemade dressing (I like the house vinaigrette and my wife likes the homemade ranch). The twice-baked potato is a great side to this delightful dish and we always go for the fried crab claws for a great appetizer! The meal was topped off with a fresh made brownie too! If anyone is looking for the best cajun cuisine on the MS Gulf Coast, look no further. It's Patrick's in Ocean Springs. Patrick is a masterful chef, who knows the true meaning of cajun cooking. Everything thing that he prepares is fresh and never frozen. The staff is amazingly friendly and knowledgeable of all Patrick's dishes. His mother Francine will greet each guest individually and gladly share the history of the small house, that Patrick's now calls home. I totally recommend that anyone seeking authentic cajun cuisine, make Patrick's the next place they visit. You will not be disappointed. I heard wonderful things about Patrick's. So, for my husband's birthday I made a reservation. When I called to confirm the reservation, they didn't have it, so I made another reservation. The night of, we arrived. The ambiance of the restaurant is underwhelming. The "hostess or waitress" asked, "do you have a reservation?" Yes. "Go sit at the table with the yellow napkins." Okay. Now we look at the menu. The prices for entrees that weren't very enticing began at $39, went to $50 or "market price". Cocktails: $14, coffee $5. I am not opposed to spending money at a fine dining restaurant, however, this eating establishment did not purport any of the attributes of fine dining. I know this isn't the restaurant's fault, but the clientele were dressed for a burger joint, not for a restaurant that's going to be $125+ for two. The upshot, we walked out. In the 10 minutes we sat there trying to decide what appealed to us on the menu, no one came to our table. So we left. We will never return so I cannot comment on the quality of the food. read more

Went here while on vacation, we were very disappointed. Service was very slow, food was expensive, very small portions, and honestly not very good. Beyond that, we waited over an hour for our food and then over 45 minutes to get our checks, once we got them they had added a 20% gratuity which included alcohol. The people were mostly friendly until we raised our concerns at which point we were told that it was a reservations only restaurant and they weren't expecting us... Frustrating due to the fact that when we walked in we asked if 1. We were dressed appropriately, and 2. If we needed reservations. I haven't been here since 1997 when this was Jocelyn's. I always enjoyed Jocelyn's years ago and was hoping that Patricks would live up to her reputation. Well wow Patrick's exceeded my expectations. Wait staff was awesome and the food was outstanding. I ordered one of the nights specials (stuffed grouper with a shrimp and crabmeat topping) and it was exceptionally good so much so I wanted to lick the plate. Oh and the homemade blue cheese dressing on my salad was very good too. It was a little pricey but we got very good value for the cost. The rest of my party had a similar experience. So I went here recently with a big party for a birthday dinner we had to make a reservation. That was not a big deal we get there when they opened we were sat pretty quick and from this point till the end the whole experience was a nightmare took forever to get water or any drinks, my sister in law ordered 2 appetizers and asked them to split them in 2 portions each that way the party could try some, what we didn't know yet was that they actually made 2 of each. That was an expensive surprise later that night. So the server who was actually the owners mom and another lady waited on us the service was slow it took forever to get food it came out in pieces, my order was the trout Almondine it was sour tasting I didn't eat it they tried to make me pay for it I took 2 bites so I wasn't cool with that, long story short only 2 people out of 10 enjoyed the food they had the reddish special it looked good for sure. The portion size is tiny and the prices are $30-$35 per entree so the restaurant got full quick it was very loud and our server (the owners mom) came over and told us to keep our kids quiet which made us mad because it was so loud we couldn't hear our kids but she said that people were trying to eat and the kids were disruptive, so for dessert we brought a cake they did put it on a fancy plate and stuff, what through us off was they asked if they could keep the leftover cake. Like what who does that but we gave it to them when we got our bills we all about had strokes they charged my sister in law for both of their meals and 4 appetizers for$250. No joke!! Our bill after they finally took my meal off was $135 and no one that I paid for left full or happy. Needless to say we will never ever be back!! Ever!! If you want to eat where the locals eat, go to Patrick's. Although we are no longer locals, Patrick's seafood is just as delicious as his grandmother's was when this restaurant was Jocelyn's. Spinach, crab and oyster soup was much better than the version we had at a well- known New Orleans restaurant earlier in our trip. Seafood gumbo earned my husband's rare "great" rating, and I could have licked the gratin dish that held my squash and seafood casserole. The collard greens were tender, but not mushy, and not overly salted. Wished we had cornbread to dunk in the pot liquor, instead of French bread. There are lots of good places to eat in Ocean Springs, but go to Patrick's when it's open. read more

Gave this a 1 because 0 wasn't an option. We stopped in to eat as a group on a Saturday. We asked if it was reservation only and were told no, to come on in...they had plenty of space. There were only two other tables filled in the place. We sat and waited for nearly 1.5 hours for our food. That was fine. We wanted to chat. Halfway into the wait, we were told half our table had to reorder because they ran out of what we ordered. Fine. My friend tried to order steak and was told "oh you don't want that...you should get this instead". That instantly made us all nervous as to why they were pushing this one meal on us. She stuck to the steak, and I got the pushed meal...(big mistake...I'll explain later). The prices were high, but the menu sounded amazing. The food was NOT amazing. Average at best for most. Steak bland and flavorless. Mine, the pushed meal, was awful. No flavor. No seasoning. I expect some shell on occasion with crab, but I ordered crab au gratin. I had GIANT chunks of shell in my casserole like dish (the size of quarters or larger) and choked on one. The sauce was basically butter in bowl thrown on noodles and a little. I was polite and just didn't eat it. They asked if I wanted something else, but I couldn't wait another 1.5 hours. I felt sick after eating what I did. It did not taste fresh. The desert was good, but it was not worth my $60 check for a soup and desert being all I could eat. The decor is weird and dated. Then, we waited 45 minutes for them to hand write our 8 checks because they never wrote our meals down. There were at least 4-5 servers, and 3 tables!!!! No idea it would take nearly another hour just to get the check:! They added 20% gratuity for the group which is fine (though the service sucked), and then we noticed they charged 20% gratuity on all the drinks too. When asked she said she made a mistake, but we didn't have another 45 minutes to wait for her to fix. She also then informed us it was "reservation only, they weren't expecting us and basically if we wanted better service, we should make a reservation next time." That was literally our first question when we walked in and that was not their answer!!!! Worst night ever, and I would recommend not going (or making reservations). read more
