I wish there was a negative number very poor experience I had with Patrick Murphy plumbing. They evidently do a lot of service work in Streamwood. I have American Home servicing as my home warranty and they are part of their contractors. I've had two poor experience with Patrick Murphy plumbing. They immediately come in the house and tell you what's not gonna be covered. This last experience was the worst. It was a drain that was clogged and he claimed that it's not gonna be covered because of a a tube that should be clamped up a half of an inch. That tube had nothing to do with the clog. The clog was in a pipe. So he told me that I had to pay $225 to do rod drain and said that it works 90% of the time. Of course I was a 10% then he goes in my basement and tells me where this pipe is way away from this loop connection that he said disqualified me for this to be covered. So he said I gotta get a carpenter take all the drywall down then he will come back and tell me how much it cost to replace the pipe the pipe need to be replaced. He said an estimate somewhere between two and $3000. He said that should include the carpenter work. I thought this was very strange so my gut said call somebody else. Mind you I couldn't work with my home warranty company at the moment because I was leaving the country and I needed my adult child to have access to the sink when I was gone so I had to call any other plumber to get this fixed. Keep in mind my husband asked Patrick Murphy plumbing if they could flush it out ,we're not plumbers so we thought that was the best word . Patrick Murphy plumbing ,Alex. The technician said he's never heard of such a thing and basically made my husband feel stupid. So he leaves I call another Plummer they come in and they said you have a clog and you need hydroget. within an hour and a half my clog was done through this process. Not tearing my basement apart, no re-piping anything .... Restore, plumbing, and drain was the saving company in the scenario. I also would like to say that I'm still working with the warranty company and I'm not sure how that's gonna get resolved. Had I had more time I would have asked my warranty company to send a second opinion out and I probably would've had it covered, but I'm still working with them because I chose to use someone else so I'm probably out the $1200 which was a heck of a lot less they want Patrick Murphy plumbing was gonna do with re-piping. This is the second time the warranty company sent them to my house. They also came to replace a garbage disposal and he said that that's not gonna be covered because you not some kind of thing had to be done and if I paid $300 to get that done then he could submit for a new garbage disposal so this is two times !!!!! never never never never use Patrick Murphy plumbing. read more

Mark in customer service was rude, arrogant and screaming in phone at me because he was having trouble establishing communication with my home warranty company. He then called and told me he ended his contract with my home warranty company. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I initially wondered whether it was worth spending time leaving this review since my shower-faucet issue has now been resolved by another, more experienced plumbing company. However, after seeing so many similar poor reviews, I realized that my experience may not be unique, so I decided to share it in case it helps others. Patrick Murphy Plumbing was assigned to my American Home Shield service request. Their technician came to my home and concluded that the faucet damage was caused by "abuse." This assessment was surprising and frustrating because the faucet had only been subjected to normal household use. Based on that report, my warranty claim was affected, and I had to go through a difficult and unfriendly process to challenge the decision and request a second opinion. American Home Shield eventually assigned another plumbing company. Their experienced technician arrived on time, professionally evaluated the faucet, identified the actual cause of the problem, and resolved the issue. Based on my experience, I was disappointed with the accuracy of Patrick Murphy Plumbing's diagnosis and the unnecessary frustration and delay it caused. A more careful and experienced evaluation could have avoided the entire situation. For that reason, I am leaving a one-star review. read more

Over the past few years, whenever I've had plumbing concerns, AHS has dispatched Patrick Murphy to my home. Vince is always very personable, professional, and knowledgeable. He quickly located the issue, submitted a ticket for the necessary parts, and returned the next day to complete the repair. Kudos to you, Vince! Thank you for being flexible with scheduling windows and for your quick response and excellent service. You're appreciated. read more

Alex, a headstrong young man with a tender ego, came out to open our sewer line. I told him three times that the blockage was between the outside clean-out and the house. I offered to open the inside clean-out and show him the roots in the pipe. He proceeded to rod the sewer out to the street and only gave a cursory effort to rod toward the house, which didn't get any of the roots. He then told me to come into the house to access the line from the inside would be an extra $495! I told him that was ridiculous. He wasn't happy about that, saying, "I'm not here to argue with you." Then the bill he presented was $50 more than my wife told me it would be. Our mistake. I scrounged the money together, they insist on cash, and paid him, letting him know that had I known the price would be that high, I would have shopped around, to which he replied: "Why are you treating me like this?" So, I had paid them for nothing! I then made myself a tool out of a pole-saw blade and a stick and went into the in-house clean-out and removed a pile of roots, a dirty, nasty, job I didn't want to do. I sent the pics to his boss, who said he would look into it.... $275 lesson learned. I won't ever be calling them again. read more

Happy with the 5-star services provided by Patrick Murphy Plumbing. They provide prompt and professional service. They did not charge me for the call noticing the sump pit was sealed for Radon mitigation and asked me to work with the respective company as they are the authorized company to do it. Second time, they dispatched a service person to replace the broken kitchen faucet within 2 hours of raising request. read more

One of the worst plumbing company , we had a claim for sewage ejector pump with AHS and they were assigned the claim . the guy showed up just by looking at the the pump said its failed because we don't have shutoff valve and gfci outlet and before even submitting the claim said warranty wont cover this and it will be $1200 to fix , the funny thing is they did the same thing 2 years back , again as last time I requested a second opinion another company showed up replaced the pump which warranty already approved and fixed our issue . Company like these need to understand that we pay money to warranty so that when we have issues like these , we get our problem solved but for them its another way to rip off costumers , I ll be reporting this to the warranty company as well read more

Terrible experience Mr. patrick the owner tried charging me an extra 900 dolllars he demanded cash . I find that odd when home warranty usually covers normal wear and tear. Beware of this unprofessional dishonest individual read more

Ejector pump not working. I have American Home shield. They charged me $100.00 to get Patrick Murphy Plumbing out to see what was wrong. Alex was the technician - he was personable and capable. The charge for the new pump was $645.00 - an exorbitant price. I am happy with Alex's job, but feel the price was way too much - not his fault! I wonder if American Home Shield is wort read more

I had Alex and Vince come out to fix an issue with my water heater- they scheduled the appointment over the weekend and were here first thing on Monday morning. They diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than half hour- excellent and professional service- highly recommend! read more

I called in a pipe leak to my home warranty company and this company was assigned to fix the issue. I was initially skeptical given a prior experience with their technician who was very rude to me. Against my better judgment, I decided to give them a second chance given the previous negative experience was about a year ago. Scheduling an appointment went fairly smoothly, and upon arrival of the technician (Alex) who called me on phone, I directed him to the location of the leak. Before he had even looked at the situation, he hinted that the warranty company might not cover the leak. He had already made up his mind to misdiagnose a simple situation and wanted me to pay an extra $395 (beyond the service fee already paid to the warranty company). Just to support his attempted extortion, he claimed that he needed to modify the copper pipe (a lie) which led to a claim denial by the warranty company. When I politely called him out on this, he became very rude and aggressive. Clearly made a mistake given them a second chance. I've now had to engage another plumber who has now properly diagnosed the simple issue and isn't trying to extort me. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company! read more

My home warranty company sent out Patrick Murphy for a clogged toilet. They tried everything they could to fix it but it was a waterline issue. They were absolutely spot on with the issue and I was able to get a sewer company out to my property. Then, the same toilet was constantly running. They came back (after reaching out right away to schedule) and fixed the issue without an issue. They were friendly and professional! I'd definitely use this company again. read more

Only good things to say about Patrick Murphy Plumbing. They responded to my AHS request within hours on a Sunday and quickly gave me an appointment the next morning. They completed all paperwork for a new unit and gained approval from AHS within a day. The new unit was installed within 4 days of my initial call. Alex took the time to walk us through everything and was extremely thorough and friendly. Great to work with! read more

I wish there was an option to list negative stars. My experience with this company was that bad. AHS has sent the same person to my house several times. He has not once been able to resolve my issue. He immediately defaults into what isn't covered on my warranty. 1st time, he told me I needed a new toilet. He was unable to clear a clog and I would have to pay him over $200 to remove the toilet because that wasn't covered. I removed it myself only to see that it was only toilet tissue clogging it. 2nd time, I placed a call to AHS again to have my pipes cameraed to locate a potential leak going to the exterior pipe lines. I sent pictures and communicated what was happening at my house directly to these people one the appointment was confirmed and they confirmed receipt of the pics only for them to come to my house and say they don't do camera work. (Why are you here then?!) This time AHS sent them out to repair a leak in my basement. It leaks when both the 1st and 2nd floor tubs are ran. Again, he immediately told me that it was due to a leak under my bathroom sink on the 1st floor. Never removed the drywall or looked at the pipes in the ceiling if the pipes to see where the water was coming from. Instead he noticed i had a slow draining sink in my 1st floor bathroom and insisted the I pay them $195 to replace the strainer because they couldn't proceed without repairing that. Of course it isn't covered. But his diagnosis makes no sense and is a completely separate issue. Because that water wouldn't run into my basement when the second floor tub is running due to a clog under the 1st floor bathroom sink. I work in construction. That's not how that works. So, then he lies about checking the water in all bathrooms. to attempt to validate his claim. When I told him I have cameras in my house. You never even went upstairs to check that the bathroom. Then he got real rude and ended the call. To add insult to injury when I texted the person from their office to tell them what happened some guy from his office then calls me yelling at me like we were about to have a bar brawl. Never verified the facts never offered a solution. Do not use these people. read more

The previous owner of my house recommended Patrick Murphy. I used them one time and the results were good. They fixed my issue that day. I used them a second time and the came to my home and looked at my non-emergency issue with the attic air pipe. Apparently, they didn't want to work to repair it. So despite promising an estimate one was not received. I called 3 times and finally got a call back where I was told they were too busy for the job. They were happy to take my money for the time they came to my house to diagnose the problem didn't do anything. They also could not be bothered to give me an estimate which was basically the whole point of having them out. Now do I pay another plumber to come out and do the same? They have lost my business and should not get yours if they are too busy! read more
