The food experience was good, I recommend the classic bruschetta and the spicy sausage pasta. The Italiano chicken salad was bland, but the chicken was fresh and the bread was delicious. My problem lies with the service. We were seated immediately but waited almost 15 minutes for the server to take our drink orders. The food came quickly which was great, but the server seemed bored and borderline annoyed. A $40 lunch that consists of a sandwich and pasta ought to come with friendly service, no? The taste of a restaurant's food is subjective according to preferences of course, but bad service? Not subjective at all. I could make an equally satisfying meal at home. When we are out on a Sunday and stop somewhere for lunch the service is half the experience for us. read more

This is my all time favorite Italian restaurant. Every time I come here it's always busy but that's because they serve real authentic Italian food. The service is fairly fast at the beginning but then begins to go downhill. The food also takes longer than usual to be cooked and served. You get a good sized proportion for the price especially during happy hour. If I get a drink that isn't water I'll get the lemonade which is very bitter unlike other restaurants for around 4 dollars. If I'm feeling extra hungry I'll get the Parmesan bread an an appetizer which is rustic baguette toasted with herb garlic butter and Parmesan with a side of marina sauce. You get 6 pieces of bread for 6 dollars and 50 cents. The bread is toasted to perfection with the right amount crispness and ingredients that melt in your mouth. The main meal I get is the linguine with basil pesto which has fresh made pesto and Parmesan for 12 dollars. It also came with 2 pieces of bread. The noodles are very long and thin. The pesto is creamy and it taste very well made with the fresh ingredients. My friend got the baked ziti with Italian sausage which is grilled Italian fennel sausage with tomato cream sauce baked with Parmesan for 14 dollars. It also came with 2 pieces of bread. This dish is perfect for cheese lovers because there is a lot of cheese that is melted onto the top making it gooey. The noodles are small and chewy. The sausage is circular and sweet. Ordered the butternut squash ravioli for pick up. So I realize a lot of Italian sauces have an underlying oil base to them... however, when I got back to my office I noticed a large oil stain on my car seat. And when I brought it into the kitchen I poured out, AT LEAST 3/4 cup oil out of the bottom of the container... which was not including the oil soaking into my car seat. I realize that when sauces sit they have a tendency to "separate", but when its a single dish and you are getting likely over a cup of oil that its swimming in... ewwww, gross! The ceprese salad was ok, but I refuse to give them any merit for this dish as it requires zero effort and no cooking. It doesn't take talent to throw mozzarella and basil on top of a tomato. read more

Tried out Pastini once more....it had been about a year since I've been here last. I've never been terribly impressed with the food. I had yet to come to the Cedar Hills location since I moved to this area. They have some nice outdoor seating even though it faces the parking lot. Biggest drawback? NO Happy Hour. Something Pastini should consider. I mean, Bugatti's is right across the way and as it was only 5pm I was tempted to just walk over there. But alas, I figured I would give Pastini another shot. The restaurant is small. No big deal. Menu is decent. Staff is attentive and friendly. Their house Rosso wine is quite delicious. I wish they had a more vast wine list. I tried their Vegeterian Lasagna - portion was generious. I appreciated the fact you can add on a small serving of garlic bread for $1.50. However, the garlic bread wasn't that great. It was so chewey it was hard to eat and didn't taste very much like garlic oddly enough. The lasagna was OK. Sauce was a bit too acidic and lacking a bit of spice I thought. Not bad though. Had tons of spinich and mushrooms, but not much of the other veggies. Overall I felt like it was something I could have made at home. At $11.50 I thought the price was a tad high. All in all the experience was fine, just don't think I would come back as I have never been that impressed with the food. 3 stars for good service, decent wine, and so-so food. read more

Pasta is below average. Similar to eating at Olive garden. Sauces are watery, pasta is the dry kind you find at grocery stores not housemade or anything. I had the clam appetizer. Clams were overcooked and covered in a watery sauce. Seems like the cook didn't care how about the dish at all even when it's a special on their seasonal menu. Only good part was the bread. I came here around 2 which is well past lunch rush hour. Service was still slow despite it not being busy. Took 1.5 hours for us to sit down order food and it to come out. I have no idea what was the hold up? Perhaps they were busy overcooking clams back there? I wouldn't come here again for mediocre Italian food. read more

Gluten free pasta available here! They use tinkyada pasta which is the best gluten free pasta I have found anywhere. Almost all things on the menu (minus things like lasagna and ravioli) can be requested gluten free, and they're smart enough to immediately hold the bread when you order gluten free -- how nice of them! I've only been to the cedar hills location and they have always been friendly, and service is really fast, but there are several locations around Portland. read more

A nice fundraiser for grand daughters elementary school-going out for dinner at Pastini Italian food! A couple of weeks any patron who mentioned Barnes School to their server had the entire cost of their meal donated to the school. Apparently they do this frequently for other schools. It's a great idea and what drew our family in for dinner. Service was excellent here, in this smallish and intimate venue and the food was wonderful. Since it was a very cold evening, I chose a hot toddy for my drink. Warmed my innards right up. My Lasagna with meat was served very hot and the cheeses were wonderfully melty. Perfect with garlic bread. A very nice evening- out check for a party of 4 with drinks came to just under $100.00. We all had salads or soups for starters as well as a lovely hot appetizer. Pastini's problem is that they act like a national chain, even though they are a local chain. As with most chains, the original location was better before expansion. That location isn't as good as it used to be, but our experience at the Beaverton location was a little closer to what I used to expect from Pastini. Did that all make sense? The point is that we had a pretty good experience here. The staff was very attentive. It bordered on too attentive, but didn't quite cross that line. The food was good, but there was nothing about it that I couldn't have easily made at home. However, it was still well worth it for the price. Pastini will continue to be a chain restaurant, but as long as they stay fairly consistently at the top of the chains, they'll do fine. read more

Decent place to carbo-load the night before Hood to Coast relay! A group of 10 of us gathered here to eat on a Thursday evening, and the service was good. This has become our go-to place for Italian food. It's not a fancy downtown Italian joint. It probably wouldn't pass muster in Brooklyn. But it does the job very well. It always tastes fresh, never oily/greasy. It's flavorful. It's a good value. Ad they have a great selection of vegetarian options (which shouldn't be too hard, but many chain joints think salad is the only option for a veggie). Every now and then we'll get a bad day, every joint has those, and when we return it's just fine. For example,we went last month and the service was tepid, poorly timed and forgetful. Our food was luke-warm and just not up to snuff. OK, maybe they're having a bad day, it happens. Went last night and it was right back to near-perfection. One thing I don't get though, why does ice tea cost more than soda? We love this place and multiple locations have proved to be just as good. A few years back I discovered Pastini back at the Bridgeport location. However, this location is much closer to my house and I eat here more. I have tried multiple items on the menu and I have not been disappointed in any of them. Sometimes the seasonings vary depending on who is cooking the items however that's to be expected. The price point is very fair for what you get. I have never received poor service here. My drink always gets refilled and my check always dropped off without having to wait. Oh and a cherry on top, they do free birthday entrées!! The restaurant is always clean, the managers present, and the staff full of smiles. read more

Went on a date with the wife and our server Jordan was great. He was very attentive and helped us decide on some menu items. I had the Gamberetti and it needed a touch of salt and fresh cheese to compliment the balsamic flavor. My chocolate italian soda was really good. We were sat quickly but I imagine with the movie theater nearby, this place gets packed quickly. Disappointed to find out that Jordan was fired from here. I don't understand why they would do that, as he was a really good server. We came here for him, and probably won't return. read more

MY NEW FAVORITE. We went here for my 21st birthday dinner & the food was to die for. Every dish we got was PERFECT. Fettuccine, butternut squash ravioli, manicotti etc.. So so good. Our waitress was amazing, super down-to-earth, patient.. Even though the place was packed and bustling with people. The only thing that caught me off guard was the restaurant's size. It seemed too small for the amount of people filtering inside. Like too small for the popularity.. So we did have to wait a bit in waiting chairs right next to people eating their dinner.. Lol. I'm always pleased with everything but the wait. I don't mind waiting for good food, but there isn't a lot of space to wait so you end up smashed against people or outside - and it's getting cold. The food is always fantastic. Although, I'd prefer a bit more spice in some dishes. Sometimes they seem a bit dumbed down for those who have a Denny's palate. The tuna/white bean salad has a lot of flavor, is light and reasonably priced. My son loves the pizza sticks and our daughter will eat anything. My family has gone to NW Pastini since it opened. We're fans. We were in Beaverton, so tried the SW location. The space was fine, but the food was not. I ordered a new item with so much pepper flakes I could barely eat it. Every bite had at least 5 flakes. The simple dish would have been fine, but it was barely edible. I told the waitress, but she really didn't care. Our finished salad dishes weren't removed from the table and the service was just ok. The waitress was friendly, but not well trained. I noticed at the table next to us a couple was sharing a berry dessert and had to send it back. I don't know why, but they settled for Spumoni (my favorite) read more

Very disappointed. Ordered takeout online for two. Nothing difficult. Order was never seen by the restaurant until I showed up to pick it up. They didn't say anything other than it would be a few minutes. Really? After bringing the manager up and running through the order with him right in front of me? Ok. I'll let that slide since I wasn't in a particular hurry. Apparently they were. In less than 10 minutes I had my chicken piccata and Mac n cheese ready. Got home, opened it and found I'd spent $15 on pasta noodles, 5 small pieces of chicken and a few broccoli stalks. Like to support local businesses. The place is very noisy. Booths are wood benches. Hard to sit on unless you have a lot of padding. Caesar salad had no dressing. Of the three dinners we ordered we ate one. I went here last night with a friend before going to a movie and though I don't eat a lot of Italian food, I liked this place. The place has sustainable and local food, which is important to me. I am very disappointed with the way my order was handled tonight. I ordered a rather large order through uber eats. The order went through, I was charged, then about 20 mins later I went to check the status of the order. It said it had been cancelled. So, I called the restaurant to see why. They told me they cancelled my WHOLE order due to one small detail! Why couldn't someone have called me? Although this is a relatively large chain in the portland metro area, they manage to crank out some relatively decent tasting pasta, albeit not especially fresh. With a half full restaurant, my friend and my orders came out within 6-8 minutes from ordering. A good 1/3 of my pasta ears were stuck together like pringles stacked in a can, and overly chewy. This is the orecchiete with italian sausage; perhaps some of the other dishes with their signature meatballs would have been a better choice for me. lastly, the identical pieces of bread that come with each pasta dish is better served hot. overall, very quick and friendly service, but if i weren't expecting something quick for a meal, i would search elsewhere for better pasta. The Squared Parmesan Polenta Cakes with Marinara were a perfect starter, we chose their Ham, Cheese (Fontina), & Tomato Panini as our entree..we opted for an add'l $1 to have their Arugula salad (capers, peppers, red onions, tomatoes, & cucumbers) instead of a Caesar. We paired that with a nice Pomegranate Italian Cream Soda. Grand total $20.45. $10pp not too shabby for delicious. Had dinner at Pastini last night with my boyfriend and his friends wife and kids. Seems family friendly but could easily be a nice place for a date night although it is a bit loud. Food: We started with some tasty garlic cheese breadsticks for an appetizer. Came with a nice marinara sauce. We ordered two plates between three adults and two kids and still had a few left over (my boyfriend eats a lot though). I had the butternut squash ravioli for an entree which was tasty. I will say the ravioli were swimming in olive oil which was, to me, a con. They were literally sitting in a pool of it. My boyfriend had penne and meatballs which looked really good and he said tastes good as well. It looked like everyone enjoyed their meal and the sangria was lovely! No complaints on the food. Service: it gets pretty busy there so we had a 15 minute wait on a Friday evening. There are some shops around to go browse in including Powell's bookstore so it's easy to pass the time. Our waitress was friendly and professional. In general, it's a typical Italian American restaurant. Definitely a step or two or three above Olive Garden but not completely authentic yet still very tasty! read more

Another visit from my California parents, another outstanding meal. So good, in fact, that my Dad paused, fork in hand, and said, "I love this place." He ordered a special pasta, served in a light tomato broth. Mother had the chicken piccata, which is served with chunks of chicken in a light garlic and lemon sauce with capers. I went with my usual chicken marsala because it's so darned good. This time I satisfied my crunchy bread fetish (sorry, soft noodles need crunchy bread for balance!) with an order of garlic bread.
