But, we wanted a working Wii so my wife called around and discovered this place. They couldn't repair our game system but sold us a replacement one (minus the cords and stuff which we already had and thus didn't need) for around $20, with a 30-day warranty. We took it home and it works. So, we are back to playing the Wii. Wheeee! They also sold retro toys, board games, video games, movies, and other "nerdish" things. It was a fun walk through, though you could easily empty your wallet and walk out with some nifty things if you aren't careful.

Movies are used but very cheap, and they actually organize them by category and name. Who does that? As a result, it is super easy to go in and see what they have. Furthermore, unlike buying movies online that arrive scratched and unable to play, I think they must recondition them before sale because they look great and I have never had a problem with a disc not playing. They also have movie posters, collectible magazines, Hess trucks, sports memorabilia, and who knows what else? However, I just go for the movies. When I can get a bunch of DVDs for $20 (the cost of a new movie these days), I am a happy camper.

The first time I brought stuff in the guy working misquoted me a higher number for one of the items I brought in by A LOT. The second time I brought stuff in a different guy told me, after running it through some "tests", that my iPhone was locked to the ATT network even after I told them that couldn't be possible because I purchased it unlocked directly from Apple. He offered me at least $50 less for it because of this. In addition, they rejected another one of my items because they "couldn't get it to charge". Needless to say I did not sell my items to them. I got home popped a Verizon SIM card in my iPhone and LO AND BEHOLD the phone works. I also plugged the other item in and LO AND BEHOLD it charged right up and held its charge. Basically they wasted an hour of my life and lost business. I do hope the guy who told me my iPhone was locked just made an honest mistake BUT he would have some money to gain if he had convinced me to sell it to him at the lower locked price then turned around and sold it as an unlocked. My suggestion to you would be to make sure you go on the CEX website and get your own quote for the items you are thinking of bringing in. Secondly, try and be in the store when the manager Alissa is working because she actually knows what she's doing. Instead, it took 18 days, and when it finally showed up, it was the wrong item--I only received controller accessories, not the actual controller. I called customer service, and was told I had to drive 50 minutes to a GameStop store to return the incorrect item before they would send the right one. I explained that the mistake was theirs, not mine, and asked if they could just email me a return shipping label to avoid wasting time and gas. I also asked if they could go ahead and ship the correct item since my order was already 11 days late. They refused and said it was "company policy." When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they would say the same thing. At that point, I asked for a refund instead. Again, I was told I'd have to go to the store to return the item. I voiced concern because the item I received was worth less than what I paid. The representative said it wouldn't be a problem and emailed me a letter to bring to the store. Today, I went to GameStop, and the store manager had to call customer service--only to be told that the store couldn't process the return after all. I was emailed a shipping label and told I now had to take the package to UPS myself. This entire process has been frustrating, disorganized, and a total waste of time. Between the delayed delivery, receiving the wrong item, the lack of accountability, and poor customer service, I will never shop at GameStop again.

Bearing in mind, this Jay St. location is extremely small and is not as good as their other locations. I personally find a lot of the stuff here cool and I love vintage games, but the prices are ridiculous. A lot of these games cost well over $20 and some are over $100. The old PlayStation 2 games are about $20 a piece and I can buy them online for half that. In similar fashion, the brand new video games usually cost more here than anywhere else, I suggest going to GameStop instead. I would also like to mention that the employees here are usually rude and treat the customers poorly. However, this Jay St. does have a lot of classic movie posters and large variety of vintage games even if they are overpriced. Refunds were offered, but I chose to keep my order and support the company. Since I hadn't heard anything, I asked on 12/13/23 when items would be shipped out. Before long the date was changed to 2/15/24 and then to 2/23/24. As I said, things happen, but we're approaching a year now and there was no mention for a couple of months that the date was changed. I'm sitting here thinking the signing has been completed. The signing finally takes place on 2/26/24. At that time we're told items will be done shipping by end of day Friday 3/1/24. On 3/11/24 I ask for a status update on Facebook and am told they're being careful and taking their time with shipping. On 3/18/24 I ask for an update via email. On 3/21/24 I'm told that they're still working on orders and to contact them on Monday if I haven't received tracking. We've officially reached a year since my initial order. I give them even more time than suggested and wait until 3/28/24 to ask for an update. I'm told that my item is with Hogan and should be returned soon and I quote "sometimes, items are missed, and that's what happens" and they offer me a 10% refund once they send the item to me. On 4/1/24 I send an email explaining how dissatisfied I am and breakdown everything that has taken place, like I am now, and state that a refund of $16.00 is unsatisfactory given all that has taken place. By 4/10/24 I'm emailing, posting on Facebook, and DMing the business account because I'm not getting any response when I ask for an update. I legitimately begin to wonder if they've lost my item. I finally receive a response back on the same day stating that the signing is done and there's nothing to worry about. On 4/17/24 I ask for an update. No answer. I ask again on 4/18/24 and am told Hogan's shop is shipping it out on 4/22/24. On 4/29/24 I again ask for an update as I've heard nothing. I'm told that they'll check the status and let me know. "Either way we will make it up to you for the delay". On 5/3/24 my item is shipped to me. I receive it on 5/8/24 and thankfully my item is in good shape and Hogan has added his signature. I send a DM saying I got it back and thank you. I remind them of the compensation mentioned due to this ordeal. I hear nothing. On 5/10/24 I simply send "hello?". They respond and say we will get back to you on Monday. Even the refund got delayed. I hear nothing on Monday. Today, on 5/14/24, I ask for an update and they ask if I would like a small refund or some autographed prints with no mention of who signed them. I want this over. I say I would like whatever refund your able to give. They refund $16.00. I assure you I was kind and courteous throughout this entire ordeal and have all of the receipts to prove it as well as prove my story. 421 days after my order was placed the situation is finally over. After all of the delays before the signing, delays in shipping items back, finding out they completely forgot my item so my signing was delayed even further, delays getting my item back to me after it was actually signed, and even delaying compensating me after telling me multiple times I would be taken care of. All of the negative things that happened with my order was apparently worth $16.00. I'm happy to have my autograph finally, but I will absolutely NEVER do business with Heroes Hideout again and I would advise anyone that asks me against it.
