It's a little out of the way if you're traveling either the Northway or Thruway, but absolutely a place we'll return any time we're in the area. It is absolutely worth your drive. Great place! Well done, folks!!!

My wife and I love our Nintendo Wii but one day it stopped working. Trying to find a legitimate…read moreNintendo repair place that would work on the Wii seemed to be impossible... perhaps Nintendo just doesn't authorize it anymore. But, we wanted a working Wii so my wife called around and discovered this place. They couldn't repair our game system but sold us a replacement one (minus the cords and stuff which we already had and thus didn't need) for around $20, with a 30-day warranty. We took it home and it works. So, we are back to playing the Wii. Wheeee! They also sold retro toys, board games, video games, movies, and other "nerdish" things. It was a fun walk through, though you could easily empty your wallet and walk out with some nifty things if you aren't careful.

Every July we go to a lake up near Cooperstown and every July I go to this store and spend three…read morehours or so going through their records. As one of my nephews said "it's my vacation from my vacation". Everything is reasonably priced. As much as I avoided leaving a review all these years, wanting to keep my secret fishing hole secret, I'm leaving one now because I honestly don't know if they'll still be there July 2021. One of the owners has been sick, they're not getting any younger and I'm sure the COVID 19 epidemic didn't help. I was there a few weeks ago, unpriced albums seemed to be $1, priced albums were half the marked price. Unpriced 45's seemed to be.50, priced 45's were half the marked price. I've never looked at their Classical albums, they have a lot so a fan might do well. I've skimmed through the Soundtracks and Original Casts, have occasionally bought something but never looked deeply. If you've got a jukebox and are looking for records you'll do well here. They also have 78's and CD's. Two July's ago I picked up a Hank Williams 78 and a Sonny Boy Williamson 78. Full disclosure, you're not coming out of their with any rare Rock or Jazz. I've seen that stuff dwindle down. Three July's ago I found a mono Jefferson Airplane "After Bathing At Baxter's" and a Leigh Stephens "Red Weather", this year the best albums I found were a promo Brinsley Schwarz "Silver Pistol" and the Fraternity of Man album. There's lots of books too, I've bought quite a few music biographies here. My understanding is they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11-2:30. The phone number is listed here, I'd call first or text. I texted and received a fast response. One last thing, I just added this business to Yelp! thinking that they could use the support and I'm sure the sales. It's my thank you for the six or so years of giving me someplace to go on my "vacation from my vacation". If Bob's Books & Music isn't there next July it will be a very sad day in my life.

I am both a book/record dealer and collector for 30 years. This is my fair assessment of this…read morestore: The owner is nice but everything here is way overpriced! For example, the record albums are all in fair to poor condition but priced as if they are near mint. Currently, they have a Led Zeppelin album (Coda) that is in a poor, disgraceful condition. It has mold/mildew stains and odor, split seams and when you open the gatefold there is a large tear in the paper. The record is equally bad. They want $25 for it. It's a record you would find in a $2 bin anywhere else. I purchased this same album from another record shop in the area. I paid $20 for it in near mint/like new condition. I noticed the same theme with all their records. I saw Rolling Stones albums from the late 60's that were in deplorable condition...all were marked $20 and higher. I could find very few records in decent shape that were worth playing. The books were priced somewhat better but still on the higher end for the conditions they carry. Bottom line: If you want to spend a rainy day just browsing here it may suffice? However, when it comes down to purchasing items from this store you would be well off to compare prices online and with other venues.

The thing that really sold me on this store was the pricing. Many smaller comic shops jack up the prices of their minor keys or poor condition major keys to absurd amounts. Really happy with the books I walked away with and would definitely go back here again.
