We had the opportunity to visit Urban Aftermath as part of a Yelp Elite Event and I couldn't be more pleased with our visit. We were greeted by the shop owner Hassan and he shared the story of the business which includes the storefront, a warehouse and online operation. The storefront is Hassan's curated space and what a space it is! Surrounded by gorgeous books there is also an eclectic mix of toys, office supplies ie old staplers, and vintage vinyl. Hassan had also been building a poetry reading series that unfortunately Covid has ruined for the time being but hopefully he can start it back up later this year. I found it such a great place and Hassan is a wealth of knowledge, able to recommend a new author or book. I highly recommend stopping in and we will definitely be back!

NOTE: this is a review of their satellite branch that operates in Clifton County mall…read more This place is great. Movies are used but very cheap, and they actually organize them by category and name. Who does that? As a result, it is super easy to go in and see what they have. Furthermore, unlike buying movies online that arrive scratched and unable to play, I think they must recondition them before sale because they look great and I have never had a problem with a disc not playing. They also have movie posters, collectible magazines, Hess trucks, sports memorabilia, and who knows what else? However, I just go for the movies. When I can get a bunch of DVDs for $20 (the cost of a new movie these days), I am a happy camper.

The floor to ceiling movie shelves has a giant selection of movies for excellent deals if your a movie/gamer or it's a great place to venture with the kids on a Friday for some good selections. The owners are the friendliest folks who love to chat & seem 2know all their repeat customers on a personal basis. They are so organized when you are lost in a huge selection & ask if they have a certain movie they have them all logged & find them fast. An excellent store with great people who keep u coming back 4more.

FlipSide Gaming SAVED THE DAY! Huuge shoutout to Kailer who helped me out…read more I'm not knowledgeable about TCGs but my partner was really excited for a new release. I pre-ordered the booster packs to surprise her without realizing that we can't even play the game without the resources from the "starter/trial decks". By the time I realized we needed these decks, NONE of my local game shops had any in stock and online listings were all scalpers selling for 2-3x MSRP. I contacted FlipSide gaming about re-stocks on the trial decks and they said they don't have an ETA but to sign up for their notifications. Perfectly reasonable response and I thought that was that. However, later in the day, Kailer contacted me back and said they received some returns for the starter decks and set up an invoice so I could place an order!! They totally could have just sold these in store or increased stock online - they would absolutely sell. But Kailer went out of his way to contact me back and manually set up an invoice for the purchase. Now we can actually play this game without having to pay scalpers!! THANK YOU KAILER AND THANK YOU FLIPSIDE GAMING!!

Very disappointed with my recent experience with Flipside Gaming…read more I purchased a booster box case when it was $850. Instead of being properly protected and double-boxed, Flipside placed the shipping label directly on the case and shipped it that way. The case arrived damaged. I reached out to customer service expecting an exchange. Unfortunately, they would only offer a full refund -- no replacement. What makes this even more frustrating is that the same case is now listed for $2,000. I'm left with a refund for an $850 purchase while the company can sell that inventory for significantly more. Regardless of the market price, customers should receive the product they paid for, especially when damage occurred during shipping and the packaging provided little protection. If you're ordering a case from Flipside Gaming, be aware that it may not be double-boxed or shipped with additional protection. Very unhappy with how this was handled and the overall customer service experience.

Instead, it took 18 days, and when it finally showed up, it was the wrong item--I only received controller accessories, not the actual controller. I called customer service, and was told I had to drive 50 minutes to a GameStop store to return the incorrect item before they would send the right one. I explained that the mistake was theirs, not mine, and asked if they could just email me a return shipping label to avoid wasting time and gas. I also asked if they could go ahead and ship the correct item since my order was already 11 days late. They refused and said it was "company policy." When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they would say the same thing. At that point, I asked for a refund instead. Again, I was told I'd have to go to the store to return the item. I voiced concern because the item I received was worth less than what I paid. The representative said it wouldn't be a problem and emailed me a letter to bring to the store. Today, I went to GameStop, and the store manager had to call customer service--only to be told that the store couldn't process the return after all. I was emailed a shipping label and told I now had to take the package to UPS myself. This entire process has been frustrating, disorganized, and a total waste of time. Between the delayed delivery, receiving the wrong item, the lack of accountability, and poor customer service, I will never shop at GameStop again.

My wife is more old school and took me by here on a friends recommendation and as I entered the space I was transported to my childhood when I didn't have an iPad and Amazon wasn't around. I remembered how my love of reading was nurtured in places like this where I discovered Zelazny and Tolkien and Moorcock for the first time. Where I discovered a love for all things science fiction in books like Lucifers Hammer and the Uplift Trilogy. Where I read about any subject I wanted from the history of the black death to the Occult writings of Crowley, Lavey, and Starhawk. The used book stores of my day were the fertilizers of my imagination as a kid and I had in many ways forgotten, or at least allowed them to slumber like Rip Van Winkle until awoken anew by the musty smell and creaking floor boards of this new reminder. I remembered how so many of these books have been taken and then returned to in turn be passed on to future generations. It warmed my heart to know there are still places like this around that manage to make the business model work. I had largely assumed that they were all gone to be honest. The owner, Dan, was knowledgeable and able to assist my wife with some recommendations for new reads. If you go here be sure to ask about the purple bucks which are basically a a paper rewards program in the form of purple paper money you can spend at the store. Also, be sure to call ahead before going to pay a visit. Dan is semi retired and so the store could be closed. Especially on a Monday.
