went here as I have in past years for Free Comic Book Day...great crowd of adults and children alike...one guy was dressed as Spiderman for the 11th year and he couldn't have been friendlier...one of the staff was dressed up as a full blown Ghostbuster, proton pack and all...very large selection of FCBD comics neatly arranged....I picked out the 5 customers were allotted to get as well as dropped $35 to purchase three items to support the store...great experience...but so very sad to read just a few days later the owner had passed away...very sad read more

This is a shop for everyone. Whether you're a comic book fan, a niche consumer, shopping for someone else or just plain new to the genre, this is a great place to start. All of the employees are knowledgeable, but when they don't know, they immediately know who to ask. The owner is fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about, not only his stock, but comics across the board. Even if you're only in there to buy an Archie Double Digest, you won't be mocked for your reading preference, and you might even wind up with a recommendation on where to go from Archie to expand your comic book horizons. They also have an excellent selection of merchandise from comics, movies, television, etc. I have never walked out of Earthworld unsatisfied with my experience, even if the original thing I was looking for wasn't available. read more

Simply fantastic local comic book shop. They have everything, and for the casual fan they have tons of 25 cent crappy comics as well. My only beef with this store (and it seems to be a symptom of many like it) is they don't keep to their posted hours of operation. At least a handful of times I've driven my bike or car the couple miles over there well past their opening time and they haven't opened yet. It gets a bit frustrating, although I've learned to just go later. read more

This comic shop is good. They have all of the new issues the day they come out. The books are usually layed out early in the afternoon. Earthworld also has a stock of back issues, trades, some toys, statues, cards and a fair amount of indy work. While they may not have everything you are looking for they do carry a large amount. Back issues, as with many shops these days, seem to be an afterthought. The staff is what you would expect. They can be helpful but do tend to keep "busy" talking comics or related topics. Most van give good suggestions on what to pick up. A wider selection of indies and foreign comics would be great. Earthworld is a good, not great, comic shop. read more

This is a really good comic shop. They have just about anything you're looking for. The owner is a nice guy, and the staff in general is friendly. They do a nice job of making kid-friendly comics available, which is how the love of comics gets started. **UPDATE: The owner recently invested time and money into a total redesign of this shop, and the results have been fantastic. The new comics racks are terrifically organized. The back issues racks are designed specifically to house comics for comfortable and efficient browsing. Best of all for me, the bargain bins are now located in a comfortable area of the store for ease of use. A fantastic upgrade. I've added another star. read more

Perhaps the busiest day in the Comic Book calendar of events is, Free Comic Book Day (FCBD, for short), and as a new resident of the Schenectady area I was still unfamiliar with my new surroundings and the purveyors of comic books that were available. Fortunately, that's when Earthworld Comics came to the rescue for this mild-mannered, All-American, red-blooded geek! As I mentioned, I only recently moved to the Schenectady area after retiring from active duty service from the Air Force. My current career now has me teaching Junior ROTC at a local high school and as it happens, I found myself after a work-related community service event, in need of a comic book store as FCBD was upon me. After reading several Yelp! reviews, I made my way to Earthworld Comics. As anticipated, the traffic in and around the storefront was packed with rabid fans and readers eager to get their hands on this year's free publications. Upon entry, I was delighted to see how friendly and accommodating the staff were with everyone and their ability to corral patrons in the relatively economical space provided. Additionally, I was also pleased to see the wide variety of this year's Free Comic Book Day offerings still available when I arrived. Perhaps the highlight of the visit was being asked to have my picture taken with Cosplayer Kelly Tenzyk (Spider Gwen) and Jordan Glindmyer (Earth Girl) who were both generous with their time to make me feel like an actual superhero myself! (Albeit, I was already in uniform). Thank you again, Ladies! I could have lingered in the store for hours, and almost came close to that timeframe. The store itself has an impressive array of current and back issue comic books and graphic models from DC and Marvel, as well as the independent and lesser known publishers. Of course, they also have a wide array of collectibles and trinkets that would satisfy almost any comic book hero fan and fanatic. All-in-all, my first and only visit (so far) to Earthworld Comics was a resounding success and I'm making this my one-stop comic book shop in the Capital Region. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for knowledgeable, friendly and courteous customer service and staff. As well as anyone interested in the comic book collecting hobby. read more

Always have the new releases, and an excellent collection of back issues and trades. Also have statues, tshirts, and just about every other comic-related item. If I can make one, small complaint; the staff never struck me as friendly and never seem interested in acknowledging me or talking to me, but that's not really essential, so they get full marks. read more

A great comic shop for the Albany / Capital District area. Decent size shop with plenty of space, sizable selection (books, figures, indies, cards, etc) Fairly nice older issue selection (pre-modern) on the walls, but they seem a little heavy priced. (My thoughts are that this is because they really are the only shop with real selection this side of NYC - So they kinda give it the NYC price-point - even for lower grades.) I thought this was a great shop. It's spacious, roomy, and bright. There isn't much in the way of older silver age comics but the back issue collection makes up for it. The back issues were 25 cents each, $5 for 25, or $10 for 70. At that rate it was easy to pick up 70 issues. There are plenty of toys and action figures to go around and lots of graphic novels and trades. I thought it was a bit odd to have the adult 18+ section right next to the toy section that a little kid who isn't into comics would run to first. The bathroom was filthy and it stank like something someone shouldn't be doing in there. Lots of people came in and out if the shop while I dug through the 25 cent section so the store is definitely alive and well. It's definitely worth a visit except if you are looking for vintage comics. read more

A solid comic shop, with a decent graphic novel section. The back issue section was alright, but nothing that huge. This places rules, and the staff are really friendly! One of the best comic book stores I've been to. There's a bargain bin where you can get 70 comics for $10. Like woah, never seen that before! And they have all current comics. You need to go to Earthworld if you're in the area. read more

This place was right outside the heart of Albany. The guy behind the counter who I'm assuming was the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. I loved how he had old comics as well as new. He even had ones in the case for $250. However I went here to buy the Action Comic #900 and he said only one per customer, which I was a little annoyed with but however it made sense, but still. I go to this shop for all my comic needs. There is a closer comic shop to me, however earthworld is the best place to go. Always has a great selection of comics and novelty alike. Free comic book day here is a blast! I go here every year, and it's always a good time. The people that work here are always friendly and happy to help you find what your looking for. Love the 25 cent bins here and how they will special order something if you want and will even let you pay it off while you wait for it to come in. The free comic book day is great and they usually have ladies dressed up as superhero's or villans on the day. read more
