I went on a Wednesday afternoon. There was a short line/wait to order food. I don't speak Spanish so it was really hard for me to ask questions/order. The business is NOT English friendly. I lived in south Florida and love Venezuelan empanadas! Pastelitos Hugo is a nice casual, family-friendly place. The food was delicious, the portion size was great & the price was EXCELLENT! I would recommend.

I'm only giving a 1 star because the beef is good, as seen in the photo. (LOOKS LIKE DOG CHOW THO). As for the rest of the food: plantain patties, pork empanada, and pork with plantain patties. Spell it with me: A-S-S. The plantain patties are cooked like we are living in the Great Depression Era; no seasoning, super hard, and dryer than the Sahara Desert. Unfortunately the service and ambiance/ atmosphere don't stray far from their food. From the moment you walk into the establishment to the moment you walk out you're stared down by employees and customers. (I am an African American/ BLACK women to help give some insight on my ethnicity). I've been to the establishment a total of two times. Once for pick up and once to place an order & both times I got the exact same treatment: stares and uninviting atmosphere. If you don't have money to waste, like I don't, then I'd suggest going to ANY other business. There is a nice Chinese place next door serving good food Refer to photos of donkey pellets to get better insight.

Traditional Venezuelan Maracaibo food , excellent service , to much families and persons any time specially the weekends, so be prepared to wait a list 30 min, but works for the food.

A worker mopping with very harsh cleaning chemicals at 2 PM on a Sunday while many customers were trying to eat.

Super Sandy's is a hidden gem tucked away in Lewisville. Literally, you can't see it until you're…read morealmost at its parking (which there was plenty of when I went). The restaurant is clean and modern with a bright and welcoming aesthetic. The waitperson on staff was incredibly attentive and friendly; she was not confident in her English but my Spanish and her English combined were enough that all of our food (even with change requests) came out exactly as ordered and cooked to perfection. If you don't speak Spanish, don't let this dissuade you, she was very knowledgeable about the menu and knew exactly what my non-Spanish companions wanted without my subpar linguistic assistance. She made fantastic recommendations and accurately told us that everything on the menu was good. The menu had a great variety from shawarma to empanadas. The waitperson was very good about proactively telling us what they were out of (only a couple of things--lasagna and soup). I don't think you can go wrong with anything you can choose. I ordered the Pepito with mushrooms and chicken. It was AMAZING. Perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. My husband ordered a cordon bleu and a fish empanada along with a pizza pastele. Our daughter ordered the Venezuelan take on chicken shawarma. They greatly enjoyed their meals and we all enjoyed the mini empanadas we shared (two pork, two beef, and two chicken is the default). I also savored every drop of my Especial Super Sandys cocktail. The only drawback to this place is it is right next to my work, so I'm going to be constantly ordering from here or hating myself for not doing so. Edited to add: They were open until 11pm on the Tuesday night we went; some places online erroneously state 6pm as closing time.

It's advertised as Venezuelan cuisine and we had no idea what that meant. However, we do enjoy empanadas and they listed them on their menu. We ordered several pasteles and 1 empanada. I'm not sure what the difference is....they're both like a hand-held fried pie. The E's are larger than the P's. The ground beef variety was our favorite....VERY good. The ham and cheese was the next best. The pizza flavor was OK, but wouldn't order it again. The chicken variety was our least favorite. The creamy cilantro dipping sauce was amazing!! The staff was very attentive. Prices are fair. We can't wait to have more of those flavorful ground beef empanadas and try the other varieties too.

A friendly guy came over to take our order, and since it was our first time, we told him we were feeling adventurous and asked for recommendations. He didn't hesitate--suggested the pabellón and the patacón, and we went for it. The pabellón was a hearty Venezuelan classic with shredded beef, black beans, rice, and sweet fried plantains--and ours came topped with a fried egg. The beef was super tender and packed with flavor. The patacón? Wild in the best way. It had shredded beef, ham, bacon, cheese (both sliced and grated!), lettuce, tomato, chips, ketchup, and tartar sauce--all sandwiched between two big, crispy fried plantains. Total flavor bomb. Both dishes were HUGE. Either one would've been enough for the two of us, but we shared both and ended up bringing most of the patacón home for a very happy snack tomorrow. The restaurant has a high ceiling and a light, casual vibe with narrow bench-type tables that comfortably seat 4 diners. The chatter was lively with lots of Spanish between the proprietor and his guests. Many were obvious regulars. Definitely a great find. We can't wait to go back!

After asking 3 times where my order was and after 40 minutes waiting, finally they said my order was ready right after they retrieved the bag from another customer because yes!
