We came on a Wednesday night and it was packed! Upon arriving they asked us if we had a reservation and sadly we didn't (not knowing we would need one for a Wednesday). We waited for a table for about 20 minutes. The inside is updated/modern and you would never know you're in a retail strip center. We got the crab appetizer as a starter, delicious! I got the veal Parmesan, full of flavor (I did wish it came with pasta or mashed potatoes though). The only negative I would say is it was slow. This is a place you go for a long dinner. We only saw our waitress when she took our order, brought the appetizer, and then another gentlemen brought our dinner. We had empty waters for majority of the meal. My husband took me out for a Valentine's dinner tonight. This was our first visit here. Our server Jordan was exceptional. Courteous & attentive without be overly so. We had the Zucchini chips for our appetizer. It was very good because it wasn't frozen or out of a box it was obviously fresh. It could have used more seasoning but it was delicious even so. We shared the Chicken Parm because I saw the portions were so big & I wanted dessert :). It was so good & tender. Again the breading could have used more seasoning but it was tender & cooked just right. It also came with a salad & bread sticks which added to the value of the meal. I loved the salad as it included cucumbers & tomatoes. What is a salad without those?! The dessert is what made me write this review. I had what Jordan recommended which was the mint cheesecake. OMG who made this I asked?! George one of the owners. Please tell him this is the best dessert I have ever had in a restaurant since I was in NY! Hosted my parents for Fathers Day lunch. Excellent on all counts! We enjoyed the Ultimate Seafood platter and Penne Vodka, ending with Pistachio Raspberry Cheesecake and an Espresso Martini. Jordon was the perfect server, warm, knowledgeable and excited about the food. The star bartender, Ariel made an excellent cocktail, and happily shared her creative process. Recently tried the much talked about Pastavino and it certainly lived up to the hype. It was slow when we arrived, but quickly got packed. The seating can be a little tight, but not uncomfortably so. House Chianti is very tasty. Cocktails at happy hour are always fun and unique. Service from everyone is wonderful, including friendly and caring owners. Wow, my new favorite place to eat! I love that this family owned. We finally checked it out last night and had an incredible experience! We called to speak to the hostess before leaving the house to see if there was a wait. My experience in the past with most restaurants is that the hostess answering the phone can be kurt and hang up at the end of the conversation without saying goodbye. This was not the case with Pastavino, Marie was personable and sweet! As soon as we walked in the door, the ambience was warm and inviting. Our server, Heather, was fun, knowledgeable, and attentive (not just an order taker like most places). We were impressed with the spectacular food choices, and the portion sizes were impressive. Of course, the food was divine with a tremendous amount of flavor. We loved everything from the charming ambience, creative cocktails, delicious food, impeccable service, and everything in between! I recently visited Pasta Vino with a party of friends and we had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything about this place--from the food quality to the atmosphere--was top-notch. Our party ordered a few classics: the Chicken Cacciatore, the Veal Parm, and the Lasagna. I can honestly say every single dish was a winner. The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful, clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Furthermore, the portions were very generous--you definitely get your money's worth here! Beyond our specific orders, we couldn't help but notice how great everything else on the menu looked. It was hard to choose, which is a great sign! The experience was elevated by the incredible service; our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. It is Italian. The seafood. The seafood is the best. I am from Florida. Haven't had any good seafood since moving here. We have found our seafood place. I got the seafood Alfredo and hubby got the stuffed flounder. Basically, it was broiled flounder on top of a Maryland broiled crab cake. Our server Jenny was gracious, very knowledgeable about our wine choice, reviewed the specials and menu with detail. She also checked on us often to ensure our evening was special as first time customers. Manager Irene stopped by our table and talked a bit as well. Professional quality service is hard to find these days, but this team did it all. Great atmosphere too. They just opened in Oct, so I would not take any of those "interesting" less than 5 star reviews seriously. Do not miss out on a meal at Pastavino. Pastavino crabcakes are the real deal! I'm originally from Maryland. I've eaten a lot of amazing Maryland-style crabcakes in my day (and plenty that claim to be Maryland-style but are just awful). It's hard to find anything remotely close to authentic in SC. But Pastavino is the real deal. Big lumps of crab, very little filler, broiled just right. Definitely compares to my favorites (G&M near Baltimore, The Wharf in Alexandria, O'Donnells in Potomac). Food was definitely 5 stars. I only knocked it down a star because I think the level of service could be a little higher with this level of restaurant. Service was nothing bad, but nothing special either. read more

I wanted to love Pastavino, but so far I can't. As soon as I opened the door the smell of wet dog was overwhelming. They probably used a dirty mop to wipe the restaurant floors and it was so bad it was making me nauseous. Then, after waiting for our table, we were placed in a table near the bathroom, which had high traffic , while many others were empty... it was so annoying to have people bumping into me while eating. Now the food: the Alfredo sauce does not taste like a normal Alfredo, it has a strong flavor, maybe a different cheese, but not the best. The stuffed flounder had potential but even after requesting with a side of broccoli, they placed the dish in a plate with a mount of tomato sauce on its side, which made no sense and placed the broccoli on a separate bowl. The crab cake was good, not the best. I am from Maryland so I can say they need better ones. I am willing to go back as I think they still in their early days. Kudos to our server, as she was super nice, great attitude and always available. read more

I was very excited for this new restaurant to open close to home after the space had been vacant for ages. Walked into a newly and nicely decorated space and a welcoming staff. Unfortunately, after a good, but not remarkable fried zucchini appetizer things went downhill. We were brought salad and breadsticks akin to Olive Garden (not fitting in my view for the "finest Italian flavors" in the city. I ordered the Seafood Marinara, Al Dente. I was brought overcooked pasta mush over-smothered in sauce. It contained shrimp, but the seemingly "bay scallops" were tough and it wasn't until halfway through the meal that I realized some chunks in the sauce were in fact their lump crab. We did enjoy a nice piece of cheesecake, but nowhere near enough to overcome a disappointing meal. read more

After seeing the article in the free Greenville journal touting the authentic Maryland Crab cakes we made reservations for dinner on Halloween. Growing up in Maryland and having done considerable travel without much success replicating a good crab cake elsewhere needless to say I was skeptical. However, I was pleasantly and completely surprised. The crab cakes were absolutely as advertised and we can't wait to go back. Our friends ordered the special that evening which was lobster ravioli and were also very happy with their meal. The other surprise as it turns out is the dessert choices which are made on premises by one of the owners. The cannoli was fabulous. After our skeptical comment to the wait staff about crab cakes and prior to being served Ed the owners came and introduced themselves and were very pleasant. New restaurant that's been much anticipated for the east side. I went because of their claim about legit Maryland crab cakes and mine was enormous and delicious. Best one I've gotten in the upstate. Some items need some work such as the roasted potatoes needed to be cooked a little longer and with more seasoning, the servers were unsure of most everything and the calamari appetizer was chewy and had too much batter but I think they will improve in the coming weeks. 12 beers on draught and a nice bar area too.
