My favorite cuisine and close to home. Speciality sushi roll are well made with fresh fish and chunky. The rolls are 150% better than Sea Pearl sushi bar. read more

I love this place. It's reasonably priced, the sushi is delicious, there's a variety of food, the atmosphere is great, plus it is über convenient. Service is fast and excellent. I am by no means a sushi connoisseur, but I can tell the difference between badly made sushi and good sushi. This place definitely makes good sushi. The fish is fresh, kept at a great temperature prior to service, and is prepared very well. The presentation is also excellently pulled off. They have a large selection of rolls, I've had most of the unconventional rolls, and they are very scrumptious. Looking at the menu, you will be surprised to see a mix of Japanese and Chinese dishes, don't let that fool you, these dishes are great. I've enjoyed each dish that I was served. No complaints. read more

Excellent, very fresh sushi!! The service and decor are exceptional! Let's stay focused on the food, shall we?... I have lived many places in this country and have eaten sushi of various levels of quality. Trust me on this one, the cuts of salmon, yellow tail and tuna were some of the best Ive ever tasted!!! The presentation is second to none. Don't hesitate...just go! 4 stars instead of 5? Price! Located in the "Mosaic district" almost requires restraunteurs to inflate prices...but at least it is of very high quality. read more

I have eaten at Passion Fin over and over again, and I am impressed every time I go. The sushi is absolutely lovely (in both taste and presentation) and the price is right. If you aren't into sushi, they also have a lot of other delicious food such as their fried rice entrees. I love the one with the pineapple and raisins. I had to change this to 5 stars. They are consistently amazing. I also feel like they are affordable as well. I'd have to say the best sushi I've had in some time. read more

I'm a sushi fanatic so when a friend of mine told me about this place upon returning back to Virginia I was super excited. Sushi is always fresh and tasty, special rolls are creative and delicious.. Plus the icing on the cake is that they offer take away service. Do not let that deter you this restaurant is still a very good bistro with other delicious options if you're not into sushi.. But how can you not be :). Staff is always friendly and informative and the restaurant's interior looks amazing. I've actually been eating here for a while but recently stopped in again and realized I never gave them a review that they deserve. :) read more

Delivery was exceptionally fast and convenient. However the food was just awful. The fish tasted old, sushi was dry, plain tasting, and the pad thai was not impressive at all! Way over priced for the taste of the food. Sad i paid so much money and couldn't even finish my meal. read more

Horrible! Dry, hard rice on the three rolls I ordered. If the flavor is off, I get it, but for a sushi place to send out rice this bad is unacceptable. Never ordering here again. read more

I AM IN LOVE!!! I LOVE THE SUSHI! I LOVE THE SERVICE! I LOVE THE MAI TAIs! AND I LOOOOVVVE SURI!!!! My boyfriend and I went here on the recommendation of a co worker. We were looking for some new, good sushi places. And boy was my friend on point! Passion Fin is absolutely phenomenal!!!! Turns out its right down the street from Salon Virage so this is not only about to be a regular thing for me when I go get my hair done by Fadi, but, my boyfriend and I also go on our date nights. I need to go This, when Mai Tai's are the happy hour special!! We went right before my birthday and I was telling her what everyone had planned and my boyfriend had a surprise planned that he would share. Anyway, it was like almost a month before we got back there and I could not believe, Suri remembered exactly who we were and even remembered our plans! Asked what he ended up doing! She also remembered by new found love for her Mai Tai's and asked if she should put in the order... lol We tried Ughi for the first time here. Not sure what to do with it or how to take it, Suri guided us along and he found a new favorite. The Goyza is the best we have had! The crab rangoon is good too. I get the Redskins Roll! My team is the Saints, but I won't hold that against the food... anyway the Redskins Roll is the BEST roll I have had in a while. And after searching the world over for a good Mai Tai (even Hawaii) I finally found Suri! Man can that lovely lady hook a Mai Tai up!! It is our new favorite place. They have happy hour specials throughout the week. Oh, and they also serve more than Sushi... its like a Asian Fusion Bistro; they have Chinese and Tai dishes as well... I just can't bring myself to back away from the Redskin Roll!! read more

I've been here many times for their happy hour and a few times for dinner and have been pleased every time. My gold standard for sushi is a place in my near my hometown in Jersey. This is not as good as that, but it is very good. Their happy hour prices can't be beat. I always end up getting the Redskins roll and the Alaska roll. The fish is always very fresh and they always have weekend specials of interesting offerings. I also always get the roti canai and while it isn't the typical massive handkerchief like crepe thing, it's crispy and delicious and the dipping sauce is amazing. Their cocktails are also very reasonably priced during happy hour (and Thursdays!) and I particularly like the exotic mojito! It helps that this is a 5 min walk from my apt as well. Will definitely be going back many times. read more

My husband loves sushi and we have checked out a lot of sushi places in the area and passion fun is by far his favorite. I personally am not a fan of sushi so I love that passion fin has an extensive menu of other options such as Chinese food, Thai food and Japanese food. Most nights I struggle with what to order because the food options are really that extensive and appealing. The service is always top notch and we always have a pleasant experience here. We can't wait to go back! read more

Where to start...I've tried to give this place a chance since it is convenient for my apt and the customer service is always terrible, but food is usually okay. Recently, things have gotten worse with my family getting sick from their sushi on BOTH recent occasions now. Several weeks apart and very concerning. There are so many other great options in the area, this is one to definitely avoid! read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet as I have been to it at least 20 times, which speaks for itself. This restaurant has hands down the best sushi happy hour in the area (and possibly in all of the DMV). Rolls are $3.50 and so are small appetizers (gyoza, shumai, etc.). Do yourself a favor and get the spicy crab meat roll - it's absolutely delicious. Only get the specialty rolls if you are hungry - they are huge! The service is prompt and friendly, AND they serve lychee martinis aka way to my heart. I am a fan. read more

I came here for dinner on a weeknight with friends. I wasn't really feeling sushi so I got the red curry. It was ok. I liked their shrimp tempura appetizer though. I wish I ordered sushi instead. I thought service was fair and the place was clean and had sleek design. read more

While the restaurant still seems to be getting its sea legs in terms of service, the quality of the sushi is very good and tasted fresh. The price is in line with what I would expect for the quality and they have a wide selection of special rolls. We liked the decor of the restaurant, particularly the changing colors of the water feature behind the bar. I'd give them a solid 3.5, but as I'm sure they'll get the service down soon, I'm rounding up. One thing to keep in mind is the parking. While there is a garage, we got the last spot in it on a weeknight. With the other restaurants around, I'd be wary of going on a weekend. There is valet, but that seems like an added complication. I'm not faulting the restaurant for the parking, just advising others. We will certainly go back, on a weeknight. read more

If you are looking for some fresh and tasty sushi at an affordable price then you should try Passion Fin. I have been here a couple of times with a group of friends and the food quality and taste has been consistent. We usually end up ordering a variety of sashimi and sushi and they are both on point! Their staff is very friendly and they also provide complimentary valet parking. One of their bartenders is really awesome and makes me a special drink as per my taste buds each time I visit! (sorry I can't recall his name). read more

Passion Fin - Variety of sushi & sashimi. - Asian Fusion Near Me - Vienna, Virginia

Very excited to find a sushi place so conveniently located. I didn't realize it was there and mistakenly thought it was more of a seafood place. Well, I guess it is a seafood place - of the yummy sushi sorts. It's wedged between the Merrifield/Mosaic Lost Dog Cafe and the Black Finn Grill. You won't see Passion Fin from the road. The decor is modern and cool looking with attractive lighting and a simple clean style. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. We've been there three times now and enjoyed each one deliciously. Sushi is fresh and tasty. Pieces aren't skimpy. We enjoyed both maki (rolls) and nigiri (sliced pieces of fish, crab stick, or egg on a bed of rice). They have specials that are fun to try, beautiful, and yummy. Miso soup and house salad with sushi house dressing is delish! I hope they keep up the excellent quality. As far as hot food, we've only tried a few appetizers like the calamari and volcano shrimp. Both were good, but we liked the volcano shrimp better. The calamari serving was a little skimpy for the price, but not bad. It's an Asian fusion type restaurant so they also have dishes ranging from Thai to Chinese to Indian. We love sushi so we haven't managed to try any of those yet. But food at other tables looked appealing, so we're hoping to give some of that a try soon. I believe they do carryout too, so perhaps we'll give that a whirl next time. There's free parking in the nearby Halstead garages or other places where you could park and walk a bit. It's walkable from the Dunn Loring Metro station too. read more

I wrote a review for this restaurant but accidentally posted it for another restaurant location. The following is my update: We have gone back to Passion Fin several times now and have never been disappointed. The sushi is the best around, and we are always surprised that not a lot of people order from the sushi menu. They're missing out. But this means that we get our sushi order super fast, as there is almost never a queue. The hosts and servers are all very friendly and attentive. Wonderful service. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Each time we've gone, they have different and amazing specials - each time we've been blown away by the new special and often wish that it was a permanent menu item. I would highly, highly recommend this restaurant. We have often said that Passion Fin is the best perk of living at Halstead Square. Here is my first review (from August 2014): I'm a sushi fan, and we came here for the sushi - we ordered several rolls, some that you can get anywhere and some that were pretty unique... and everything was delicious. The presentation was beautiful and the service was wonderful - our waiter was very attentive and seemed genuinely happy to serve us. We will definitely be back. We don't live far from here, which is going to be pretty dangerous. read more

I have to say I really enjoy Passion Fin, the food and the people. Jay manages the place and was kind enough to make a childhood favorite of mine even though it was not on the menu. The team produced an amazing shrimp egg foo young that took me back in time to my childhood living on Guam. I have also tried different menu items and never been disappointed. Suri (the Bartender) makes Passion Fin a place that will always get my business. She always has a smile on your face and helps turn a rough day into a good day. read more

My wife and I have been going to Passion Fin since it opened and really like the place. Jay, the manager, and CJ, the lead chef are always welcoming and make us feel at home. We rented the back room for our 25th wedding anniversary and allowed CJ to special order our menu and boy, he did an excellent job. The entire staff was fantastic and we had amazing sushi, most of which our guests had never tried before. We are talking baby octopus, monk fish liver and some of the freshest fish this side of the ocean. Everyone had a great time and it was a wonderful evening. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Solid sushi joint. They don't necessarily have anything that really stands out or knocks you out, but I have yet to get anything I wasn't very happy with. Their service is very quick and everyone is nice. The quality of the ingredients is great, and the lunch specials are priced very competitively. You'll never be sorry you went. read more

Great place for happy hour, variety of drinks to choose from. This place in my neighborhood so I have been here several times. Decent ambiance and staff is friendly. I like green curry and drunken noodles. They serve entree with either soup or salad. Portion size is great too. read more

Consistently good food artfully presented. Wait staff needs improvement. Prices a bit high, but it's quality sushi, I believe.

Clean and roomy interior. Nice space for even a big group. Food... a can say predictable so called Asian fusion.. definitely over priced (for the amount and quality of food). Their Japanese selection was not exactly Japanese food, and their Thai dish were not even Thai taste. Very slow service. That place was not even 1/3 full but, we had to wait for 6-7 minutes till the waitress comes and get the order. Though I live within a walking distance from this restaurant, I don't think I am gonna go back. read more

Great meal again tonight. Very fresh sashimi and attentive wait staff. I think this is one of the best kept secrets in the Reston/Fairfax/Great Falls area. Moved here from Houston last year, this is the best place we've found after a lot of searching. read more

Finally, there's a great Asian option in Merrifield! This place is beautiful & chic, very Manhattanish like and the food does not disappoint either. Jay, seems to be the manager there, and is very warm, inviting, and friendly. Be sure to try their roti appetizers, and their pad thai is on point as well. My suggestions for them: get call waiting on your business lines - we always half to call half a dozen times because they line is always busy. It's getting tiresome & we have had to head to other options several times because of that. Also, deliver...please! Lastly, consider offering some Asian drinks like thai ice-tea etc. Either way, a must go to! read more

Third time went to this place, luckily being serve by the same server name Mike, probably a Chinese, surprisingly he remember me and what I eat. I am a vegetarian, three times I ordered the sweet potato rolls, vegi rolls, and everytime he remembered that I cannot take eel sauce as the menu don't mention that, what a caring server. My friend ordered fish rolls, he even split the plate for us without me saying anything, I would give 5 star service for Mike, four stars for the food, next time I will request for Mike's service! As for the dining room, I felt that the music is too loud, and the lights are too dark, we have to raise our tone to talk with each other, how come the don't know that? Even Blackfinn's music not that loud. read more

We ate at Passion Fin because we had a Living Social coupon. Not only were we very pleased with the food, but the price as well. Drinks, 1x soup, 1x salad, 1x appetizer, sushi, a vegetarian entree and dessert for 2 came to under $60 with tip included. I was really only interested in the sushi and got 18 pieces of 3 different kinds at a fair price, and it was delicious. I'll definitely be going back soon. read more

New to sushi and this place was delicious. Fish flavor and texture was everything I hoped for. We sat at the sushi bar and could see the stock of fish which looked fresh and high quality. My only critique was that I didn't see nigiri style sushi, but I'm new so maybe I just didn't understand how to order it. I got a $16 Angel Roll. I got a picture for ya. read more

Found this place on Groupon. We went on the weekend for a late lunch and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and quick. The dishes came out looking great! They were delicous. I had Hunan Chicken with fried rice and salad, everything turned out very tasting. The salad dressing was very good and they actually put a good amount on it. For an appetizer we had crab rangoons which I will order again. Overall a great experience and their menu had great lunch specials I will be going back for. read more
