Excellent food here! We arrived at 7:30pm before closing at 8:00pm but they had no problem seating us. Decent decor but little air conditioning on a hot evening in July. I enjoyed the history of India on the wall dating back to 3600 BC. We ordered vegetable samosas, Garlic naam, Chicken Biryani and palak paneer both at medium heat. Somosas came out quickly nice and hot. The pastry was crispy and the filing had some heat but it was not the most flavorful that I have had. The garlic naan was superb, fresh, hot, and tender. The biryani was had nice chunks of chicken thighs with a good amount of heat. The palak paneer was delicious, spinach and paneer, just the way I like it. The service was attentive and kind. Service 5/5 - the service was great! Routinely checking in on the two of us. Food came out relatively quickly. The food is fantastic! My favorite appetizer that can't be beaten is the garlic naan bread. Crispy with a soft texture with every bite with a blast of garlic and spices on top. It compliments almost every curry and masala dish. Speaking of masala, the Chicken Tikka Masala is an iconic staple of Indian cuisine. It's originally mild in spice heat, but the creaminess, tenderness of the chicken, and near perfect blend of spices makes up for it. If you wanted an extra kick, feel free to ask for extra spices, go with the Vindaloo, which tastes like chili, for a comparison, or some Malai Methi, a cashew curry sauce instead of a tomato base. The staff were fantastic and have excellent pointers on new foods to try and know the menus of almost every dish's ingredients. Passage to India has memorabilia of most things Indian and Indian culture. It has a great feel to it like you wandered to a pocket of India! If you wanted to make some of these iconic dishes, they have a market attached to the back of the restaurant to buy the ingredients to make these wonderful dishes! If you've got a sweet tooth, I strongly recommend the Chai Tea, a vanilla black tea, and a side of the Black Forest Cherry Chocolate Cake. FYI Beware; Passage to India on 45th will charge you 15% tip with you knowing it. We were a party of three our bill was almost $80 dollars we were ok with it until we saw the 15% tip, we were shocked, I asked why they charged us the tip? They said this is how we operate. I automatically said NO, the law states in ND if your are a party of 6 or more you can charge for extra gratuity. The man behind the counter said no and showed me the menu that they have written in their Indian language that he can charge because it written and stated that's how I run my restaurant. I completely refused and said call the Police because I will not pay it. An old lady (maybe the owner) when she heard I said call the police, she returned the tip. Atmosphere - Nothing special, but I did not spend much time in the restaurant as it was take out dinner for two people.  Service was takeout and it was very fast, in and out. Food - The food containers were not conducive to the Lamb Rogan Josh that I ordered. I did not have a place to empty the containers onto.  Sorry no picture of the saffron rice.  The lamb chunks we very large and tender. I was able just use my fork to break into smaller pieces.  So the size was not even an issue.  The sauce or stew that it was in was amazing, I can not even put it into words.  So get yourself to the place and order it, NOW!!  My wife loves India food, that being said we have never had anything like these meals tonight.  She had the Lamb Biryani which had the same large lamb chunks in basically a very spice fried rice dish.  Her food container was perfect. Another excellent choice as I stole some early in the meal. Service - We found their menu online as we were driving, okay wife did all the work as she was the passenger.  I already knew I wanted based on Triple D.  She placed the call so it would be ready when arrived, which it was.  It had to the fastest food order ever, fast and to the point.  They had a table near the registers with probably five plus bags of take out.  You tell them your name, they find your bag, ring you up and bam you are done.  If you need plasticware it is next to those backs, I did have to go back in and find it. I do t remember which entree this is... when I called I asked for a recommendation for a no-meat and no-dairy dish. Whatever this is, it's worth getting another dozen times. Great food but hidden charges. Ordered takeout and paid when I picking up the order. Looked at the receipt and saw 18% gratuity was added automatically. They said they did this for multiple reasons; Covid tax, accidentally, I selected it (I did not), Etc. We thought the employee was scamming us so we tired contacting the owners of the restaurant and got told a similar story by other staff about the charge. I have no problem tipping but 18% for a take out order, nope. If they need to charge more add it to the price of the food don't charge me fraudulently. After much arguing and me threatening to take the food back a report this as fraud to my credit card company they reversed the 18% added gratuity. See picture for proof. read more

I have always had great food from here, tonight the lamb kabobs were not eatable, tough as leather and no taste I threw out more than half my order never order that again ugg horrible hope they can make this better or take it off the menu. Decided to take a one-day trip to Fargo. After seeing many of the usual chains, I opted for something a little more personalized. I was glad I took the time to hit up Passage to India. The food was very well seasoned and most dishes had very good flavor. Option on the buffet included a kidney bean curry, rice pudding, chicken curry, chili chicken, gobi manchurian, veggie masala, chicken tiki masala, and tandoori chicken. Chai is also available as a buffet item. There was also a carrot dessert that I did not sample, nor did I sample the fried jalapeno peppers. I'll note the peppers were whole; jalapenos just aren't my thing. Additionally, they have a nice little compartment of sliced onions, jalapenos, and lemons in the "cold" section. Three different types of chutneys are available. The uttahpam was stuffed with onion and cilantro. Very good flavor. The employees staffing the place were very nice. I had a waitress who told me she was new. She was extra-cautious about clearing plates and refilling water. I think she's on the right path. Definitely recommend this place. For those who have concerns about such things, I did see a Halal certificate hanging in the front entryway. read more

The place has really great food, It's probably one of the best Indian food restaurants I've been too. I usually eat at the restaurant, but as of recently I've been getting it delivered to my apartment. I've done it twice and the first time I didn't get one of the entrees but got the rice for it. The second time i got it delivered I found a piece of wood or something in my food. So I just be weary if you have it delivered, but otherwise if your dining in the restaurant it has a great atmosphere and awesome food. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. Along with amazing food, they have the most wonderfully attentive servers I have ever come across. They also have a very nice atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the paintings they had on their walls. Another plus that I appreciated was the good amount of vegetarian options.
