    escargot and bison meatballs
    Youna C.

The ambiance was nice. We had the bison meatballs and escargot to start. The bison meatballs were delicious. The escargot was okay, I've definitely had much better. Honestly, the escargot I make at home is more flavorful. The Paella was extremely salty and had the consistency of porridge. It was quite off-putting. The lobster and shrimp in the paella were pretty good. The octopus was overcooked. I 100% do not recommend this, especially for the price. The lemon meringue martini was excellent.

The soup and salad was delicious. I really enjoyed the salad it was my first time eating here and won't be the last.

Phenomenal dish!!! This was a special dish for the evening and was incredible. Tim provided excellent service. If you want a nice place in Fargo, this is a must. Warm ambiance on a cold day.

Popped in to Maxwells tonight for a quick dinner. It's nice big restaurant with a pretty cool bar. I was the first diner of the night and just popped a seat at the bar. I started off with their daily soup, which was a dill lemon chicken soup. It was absolutely delicious. I'm going to remake this dish one of these days. Just tons of chicken and amazingly balanced flavors. For my main entree, I order the lobster fettuccine. The saffron Parmesan sauce is tasty. The lobster was cooked perfectly. It was a well composed dish. This is definitely a date spot or a place to celebrate an event. Would recommend to anyone.

Adding more pictures from my latest visit. I was seated in the bar section and the service was great. The grilled French bread in the escargot was unfortunately cold and not crispy. However, the carrot cake bread pudding made up for it and more.

Really Really Really a must for anyone who loves great food!!! I was in Fargo for a two day business trip. I went to Maxwells twice!!! Had the Black Angus Tenderloin on night one (see photo) tender and flavorful. The presentation was Perfect, almost too pretty to eat! On night two I had their Charred Pineapple Lo Mein ... Absolutely AMAZING!!! I started both meals with their Beer Cheese Potato soup. The best Beer Cheese soup I've ever had!!! ... so smooth and rich. Service was excellent. This place is the real deal!!! See you at Maxwells next time I'm back in Fargo... and you are welcome!!!

My family loves eating at very good restaurants when we visit places. Now, good can mean anything from 5 Star Inn at Little Washington in Virginia or the best BBQ in Atlanta. I always look at a variety of sources: AAA Stars, Tv show food maps, trip advisor, state/ city magazines and their top lists and yelp. Unfortunately, it appears ND is an often overlooked state when it comes to dining. So, I will confess, I didn't have the highest hopes of a great meal. I was wrong. Maxwells was wonderful from start to finish. Beautiful restaurant, warm welcome from the host, prompt and friendly service, well-timed course arrival, well-picked wine menus and, finally, exquisite food. I started with Foie Gras which, if i had to criticize something was that it was so much food! Now, to be fair, it's on the bar menu and had I had been with a group of friends, it would have been perfectly portioned! I thought it was a clever way to prepare as I have always had it as single strip of Foie Gras and this was large pieces mixed with mushrooms served over goat cheese spread on charred toast. So good. I think had the bacon wrapped bison with butter poached lobster claws. The bison was the standout. Great flavor and perfectly cooked. The lobster claw was a tad over cooked but still good. Risotto's earthy ness was well matched against the Bison's flavors. Too stuffed for dessert but was a wonderful dinner. Thank you Maxwells!

I've been here twice now, once for brunch and once for dinner. It's a solid place for a fancy brunch (priced at $25), with a variety of options for salads, meats via a carving station, fresh fruits and veggies, desserts, and a chef's window where you can get made-to-order omelets, crepes, etc. For an additional price, you can also get bottomless bloody Mary's or mimosas with your meal. I was glad I got to go here for brunch because it let me taste a little bit (or a lot) of everything, but since we went a little later in the morning, there were some items like bacon that weren't replenished as quickly as I would have liked. For dinner, I was super impressed! It's going to be a higher price point than your typical FM restaurants since it's finer dining, but worth it. I would rank it in my favorites and seemed comparable to Montes and Rustica in terms of the price, atmosphere/service, and quality of food. I ordered the Vieux Carre at the bar, which I would highly highly recommend if you're a fan of whiskey, B&B,m and brandy (and if you prefer strong drinks). It was served in a deep goblet and had a layer of smoke, which infused the drink with this deliciously smoky, woodsy, and rich taste. For my meal, I ordered the sea bass off of their specials menu, and this was amazing! The fish topped jambalaya, and then came with this delightful and unique combination of brussels sprouts, bacon, and jalapeno chutney.

Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our food and experience at Maxwell's. While we ate off of the regular menu, we chose to sit in the bar for a more casual setting - we had not made a reservation and we were dressed casually. I had first assumed that while in the bar, we would be limited to the bar food menu but that is not the case. Starting off with a drink, I had a vanilla porter draft beer. I don't remember the brand but I believe it is out of Wisconsin. My wife couldn't decide what to drink so the bartender said he would just make something for her, which ended up being a martini drink that was supposedly a variation of a margarita (with pomegranate). She said it was tasty and strong, and also $12 which seemed a little steep. You could tell the bartender took a great amount of pride in his craft and I could hear him explaining the history of some types of booze to a customer who was asking some questions. For my entree, I had the Lobster Spinach Fettuccine. It was fettuccine made from Spinach, with a very good cheese sauce and topped with a lobster tail and bread. I've always thought lobster is overrated, so while it tasted fine, it was the fettuccine and sauce that made this meal so good. The portion size was very filling. My wife ordered the Roman Gnocchi Tower, which was okay. Nothing spectacular. We finished by sharing a chocolate cake with Bailey's ice cream on top. The dessert was very good and reasonable at $7. Odds of me frequenting Maxwell's again or very often are minimal. Not because of the selection and quality of food, or the ambience (because it is a warm, comfortable place), but mostly because I'm not the type of guy to spend $50 per on his meal. If spending $40-$60 on your meal is not an issue for you, then I would recommend Maxwell's for a try. If you do not know of Maxwell's or are not using something like Yelp to find out, you probably won't stumble upon it. But the same could be said of other good local fine dining like Mezzaluna or Sarello's.

Lately the…read morerestaurants always seem really empty, which gives the place a bit of an eerie vibe, but our hostess was kind and our waiter was really nice. I ordered the Tuesday special with a lobster tail, shrimp scampi, and mashed potatoes, and it was a decent deal for what you get. The food tasted about how I expected, though the shrimp scampi was a little salty. I usually love ending the meal with the chocolate wave cake, but this time it did not taste as good as it has in the past, which makes me wonder if it was an older slice or if the recipe changed a bit. I did not enjoy it much this visit. I would still say this is a fine place to go if you already like Red Lobster, since the experience was pretty standard.

The ambiance was nice, our server was excellent and the food was delicious…read more However, the one BIG negative was that the food dishes that had whole medium to large sized shrimp in them still had the "tails" on the shrimp!! You read that correctly. The shrimp dishes we received were served with the shrimp tails still on them. When my husband started eating his shrimp dish and he bit into one of the shrimp he quickly realized that there was a crunchy texture to it, one that there shouldn't have been considering the type of dish he was eating. When he spit out the piece of shrimp, he found that the tail on the shrimp had NOT been removed prior to adding it to the dish. This led me to check out the shrimp in my shrimp fettuccine Alfredo dish. Of course, that required me digging the shrimp out from under the pasta and fettuccine Alfredo sauce. Sure enough, all the shrimp still had their tales on them. Who makes a shrimp dish and leaves the tails on?? The Red Lobster in Fargo, ND. The shrimp tails are NOT meant to be eaten let alone cooked into a dish and then served to customers who are then required to dig around in their food to remove, said shrimp and then take off the tails before adding the shrimp back into their food before eating it. When I brought this up to the waitress, she asked the manager and the manager had the nerve to say that all of the Red Lobsters have been serving their shrimp in this manner for a year now. That is BS because I've eaten at several other Red Lobsters across the country and several other seafood restaurants, and they do not serve any type of shrimp dish with the shrimp tails still on them. So FYI to anyone who is planning to go eat at the Red Lobster in Fargo, North Dakota and might be considering ordering a shrimp dish. It would seem that whoever is running this restaurant and or the kitchen seem to feel it's perfectly fine to serve shrimp dishes/meals with the shrimp tails still on them. In the pictures below, you will see that it looks like in their table advertisement card that this shrimp dish looks like it still has the shrimp tails on them however, this dish appears to be that of a shrimp salad and not one that is covered in pasta and or a sauce, so you will not be caught completely unaware that when you bite into your shrimp you are likely to be biting into a shrimp tail too.

The menu has the usual pub fare - wings, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. But on Saturdays and Sundays from 9-1, the menu expands to things like omelets, hash, Benedicts and breakfast sandwiches. So, when our Friday night hotel bartender recommended Lucky's for breakfast, well, we knew where we'd be headed. The breakfast service we encountered on Saturday was extraordinary, so hats off to our server Beth. Our party of ten walked in when breakfast opened, and she quickly set up a few long tables for our group. Oh, and she set out two coloring activities and crayons for the two young guests in our group. Our breakfast started with complimentary bowls of popcorn and we saw some very interesting eye openers on the menu, like a Breakfast Punch (with Rum, orange and pineapple juice, strawberry purée, and ginger ale), a Lucky's Blueberry Pancake Shooter (with Stoli Blueberry vodka, Butterscotch, Orange Bacardi, and a slice of bacon) and a Keoki Coffee (with Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, coffee and whipped cream). We passed on these alcoholic temptations; Beth took our orders flawlessly and the food started rolling out of the kitchen in no time. We started off with a order of Beignets for the table ($9.99) - "Deep-fried beignets made with croissant dough, topped with powdered sugar & a side of strawberry jam. I tried one and it was very good -piping hot, light as a feather, but surprisingly not greasy. My wife ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet ($13.99 served with her choice of toast and a side of fresh fruit, home fries or cheesy baked hash browns. It was a generous portion and the fruit cup she ordered was fresh and tasty. My Cajun Hash ($15.49 with Andouille disks, shredded chicken, two big shrimp, peppers, onions, cheesy hash, & scrambled eggs) was one of the best breakfasts I've had all year. It was a gigantic portion, and I was more than full with half of it. Beth was automatic with the coffee refills, was very sweet dealing with the two children in our party and gladly gave our couples separate checks. One very cool thing we saw was a "Treasure chest" full of children's toys, coloring books, and activities as freebies for the little darlings that visit. These weren't junky dollar store toys, but some nice stuff. We could not have been happier with our breakfast at Lucky's 13.
