Very expensive. For a 5 minute switch out of a key lock to a thumb turn lock it was 312$. $135 for lubrication seems excessive.

When an incident bumped up the urgency on our lock change in a big way a few days before our scheduled appointment, I called to see if they could even just put us on a stand-by list for any earlier openings, and Mike and his technician Joe went beyond the call of duty-- we had comfort and security in our new home within a few hours of calling (they were super clear that they couldn't commit to a specific time, but could find a way to fit us into that same afternoon-- perfect). It was a huge relief. I thought I had them stumped one day when I came in with an ignition key for a 1978 Subaru Brat. I have to admit that the locksmith himself seemed a bit perplexed at finding the proper key to cut. But, he found the perfect match! I even take key blanks that I have bought from the dealer to have them cut here too. Their prices are always very reasonable and they always stand behind their work. About 10yr ago I bought a truck that used transponder keys and was only given 1. Fast forward many years, and I'm ready to replace this key and get a second key made for the wife. I ordered two transponder keys online, and set about trying to get these keys cut from the original (I have equipment to program the keys to my truck). I visited your typical places like local hardware stores and other lock companies and were told they couldn't copy keys they didn't sell you. I was even sold a clone key that wasn't programmed at all. I finally resorted to paso robles safe and lock (only took this long because I'm in atascadero and they aren't open on the weekends). Tony was extremely helpful over the phone, explained some of the potential problems and told me to swing by. I had my two keys cut and voluntarily purchased another because the two keys I ordered were slightly on the short side and had them all cut. All three keys worked out of the box. This is the only real locksmith that has a physical location, staffed with people that could actually help. Not only that, everyone there seemed very helpful. Unless you just want a house key copied and you don't care where you buy the key from, skip Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace... Skip the mobile only locksmiths with no actual physical location and just go straight here. I wish I would have gone here first, as I spent a couple weeks finding places locally, getting lots of weird explanations, weird advice etc. Paso Robles lock and key got it done right and it was like a 10 minute visit. This guys did a great job on a whole house re-key for us involving six locks under a home warranty service. Their work was quick and they made sure they could do exactly what I wanted before even coming out by having me test my key in all the different lock tumblers to make sure they were all the same type of key before they came out. Needed new lock for my mailbox. The Post Offices solution would have been a new mailbox, $100+. Tried the big hardware stores/key automats, they didn't have the blanks. Came here and got a new set straight away - the tech checked the keys and thought the blank may be too thick, so he cut a second set and let me have both. The person I spoke with after being placed on hold multiple times said his name was Mike, I know this because I asked his name only after I hung up the phone on him while he was trying to rope me into a service I didn't ask for and don't need, all I wanted was a copy of my car key no programming! He actually called my personal phone after I had hung up on him, this man needs to take a class on customer service! How this place got so highly rated is a mystery to me because the service I received over the phone this morning was offensive. Update: I was told that I couldn't program it myself using the procedure I learned online, well that was a complete lie! I just programmed it and it's working great. Mike didn't want to copy my key for 3 dollars like i asked he instead lied to me to try and get me to pay for a much more expensive reprogramming procedure that I could do myself at home for free in less than 10 minutes. I wanted to post a 5-star review of Justin Bedolla of Paso Robles Safe and Lock. Right in the middle of the Covid-19 stay at home order, our back-door lock stuck in the locked position! My husband and I go out that door about a hundred times a day and would have been locked out if it was not fixed soon. I called Justin and he responded immediately with care and professionalism. He not only replaced the damaged door lock, but was able to rekey my entire house lock system and he painstakingly took apart and cleaned all my door locks! He went over and above.
