Super friendly and fun staff! My daughter broke her car key off of the fob. Toyota quoted her $500. We got a non fob key for $5 at American Lock & Key so she can at least drive her car now. Great service! I would highly recommend!!! read more

These guys are great. Really helpful and knowledgeable. I came in to cut a key/ program a fob for my car because apparently it was more than a battery replacement could fix. They asked all the right questions and we learned that someone, I'm not naming names, inserted the battery upside down and that is why an easy replacement didn't work. SO - not only did i avoid a huge charge that Honda was gonna ding me for but also avoided an unnecessary fob replacement . $10 for a battery...A+ customer service. read more

I have a house with a lot of doors and they had to be very specifically keyed. Nico came and made it also simple for me. Was very thorough yet. Got the job done in a very timely matter. Well again use American Lock & Key read more

These guys are a rip-off. They milled a key for my 2019 Honda Fit which was thicker than my original and it was grabbing when I tried it in the door and ignition. They tried to smooth it down but I was still not happy with it. The manager said I could be refunded but only have me half of the $100 I paid, saying they had to pay for the programming and now they have a key they can't use. He said it was a perfectly good key and I told him I didn't agree. I asked him what would happen if there was buildup inside the ignition and the key got stuck and he said that would be a problem with my car. So, I walked away without a product I was happy with and they kept $50. Like I said, a rip-off. They could have just as easily eaten $50 and given better customer service. read more

Knowledgeable, friendly, and affordable. Got two car keys duplicated with a key fob replacement on one.

The folks at American Lock and Key are fabulous! They not Only make keys but I had to color code the keys and they had key covers and lots of key rings. Great knowledgeable service. I won't go anywhere else! read more

Had the owner out to look at auto closers for fire rated commercial doors. He ordered residential closers and the doors still don't fully shut and his attitude definitely needs adjusting. No return call or satisfaction.. shame as we have done busy with them for 22 years, read more

I've used them for years for both business and personal. They make good key copies and have a massive wall of blanks to fit a lot of non-standard locks. They sell and install good hardware. They are much cheaper than the auto dealers for coded keys for modern cars. They even sell security safes. read more

Our front door lock failed and needed the internal spring and mechanism replaced. The unit needed to be ordered and Ruben returned 2 days later, (after the weekend) and installed it quickly! I do not need to go elsewhere for my security needs, I highly recommend them. read more

Found myself locked out of my apartment and there wasn't a spare key in sight. American Lock and Key was the only lock smith able to come out right away. They were here within half an hour of calling. The locksmith was quick and professional and even gave me the measurements for my key so that if it happens again and I don't have a spare I can get one made instead of having to have it drilled and replaced. read more

My mother lost her key ring with her car keys on it. We went to the Toyota dealers and one key was hundreds of dollars. They were kind enough to refer us to American Lock and Key. The owner was very nice and we got the keys made for under five dollars. He was friendly and quickly made our keys. I highly recommend this business super good prices. read more

Great service and pricing Toyota key for 5.00 each works great and amazing price and service. There is some idiot trying to debate the review and knows all about keys and electronics but the guy is not real smart. This is a older Toyota and a 99 year old driver but American is the best read more

American lock and key had an amazing service and handled situations very maturely especially Luis. I definitely will go back in the future.

This place deserves a medal! We were on vacation and the key to the car bent in the trunk. We had to Uber to a place in Pacific Grove who referred us to American Lock and Key. We got another ride there and it was close to closing. Luis greeted us. He warned us that the key may be broken from the pressure, but he would do his best. He made us a key (didn't break the other key) and didn't charge us because he was unsure if it was going to work. We promised to come back the next day and settle up. We got another ride back to the car and the key worked!!! We came back the next day (with donuts of course) and got a second key made and settled our bill. We are so thankful for the care and efficiency of this place. Luis needs a raise! read more

Very poor service, gouging prices. You have to make an appointment for 7 to 10 days away from when you need service. They do not have immediate services to the customers. Ownership never there and horrible management. Call Salinas...they're quicker. No bueno....Malo dinero. read more

Very poor service. Had ample information about my key needs and had me cut a $95 key knowing that it would not be programmable by Toyota.

I just recently brought my car here and everyone was so kind. They were very conscious about not wanting to waste my money and talked me through every step. I really appreciated their patience with me and honesty . read more

Wow, I really wanted to like this place. It's close, family owned and appears to be run by good honest people. Well the problem lies in the employees customer service skills. Not dealing with difficult people, just the super basic bottom line customer service which is just common courtesy. I walked into american lock and key, and there's an old man getting something done (really wassnt paying much attention to it) and he's being helped by this blonde kid who's working the counter. I let him help the old man but was a little put off at the fact he didn't do anything about the fact I walked in and waited. At the very least one would expect a "welcome" or an "I'll be right with you" and granted if that happened, I wouldent be writing this review. So I stood there and waited at this point just to be acknowledged. 10 minutes go by and in that 10 minutes I look over at the guy working the counter and he peeked up, we met eyes and he quickly peered back down. So now not only am I not getting helped, I'm not getting acknowledged, I'm being actively ignored. Cool! Audios! My new liberty safe had to be trucked down from san Jose, the guys who delivered it were amazing and installed it perfectly. Also it was great doing buisness with them. Going into american lock and key was literally nothing more that a waste of time, which I hate. So now they don't get my buisness, and they get a shitty review. The other guys got tipped. Welp, what can I say, other than SUCKS TO SUCK AMERICAN LOCK AND KEY!! read more

I took my car here because I was having a problem with the ignition key and the and the dealer recommended them. I arrived there and drove to the rear of the building but there was no parking space available. There is no street parking there I parked at the of the driveway and went inside. An employee was working on something so I told him that I have a question but that ended as a woman came from the back and told me very sternly, "You have to move your car." She told me that again after seeing the there was no parking available in the back. I said I only have a question. "I'll have to find another locksmith." Someone said, "OK". I found another locksmith. Thanks lady' I have had used them before and they did good work but that woman was rude and disrespectful. read more

So fast, I was confused to be done. I was in and out in perhaps 2 or 3 minutes for a key copy.

American Lock is true to its name and the great traditions that have served this beautiful country over the years. They are honest, polite, hard working and above all kind. I had the ridiculous misfortune of locking myself out of my house. I went to work. Came home completely shattered but was buoyed by the notion that I knew exactly who to call. American Lock had rekeyed the whole house 3 years earlier and they had been wonderful! I was looking forward to updating Matt on my continued happiness with his "Spotify" recommendation over the competition. This year I had a different young man who had just finished his apprenticeship and was still facetiming his employer AJ. In the end, despite that young man's valiant effort, AJ's assistance was needed. AJ arrived with a reassuring smile and completed the job in minutes. I began to feel some remorse for having doubted his young apprentice but AJ had only kind words and genuine concern for his fledgling locksmith who was probably seconds from success. He wisely expressed what all great teachers understand...more time, more time on his own which would eventually give him the confidence to work his way through complicated jobs. WHAT A NICE BOSS!!! WHAT A NICE MAN!!!! Then he shook my hand and wouldn't take ANY payment! I wanted to pay him for restoring my faith in humanity. For making me feel glad I am American and reminding me who we are as a nation...not perfect, not all the time anyway but mostly we have good intentions and we are KIND TO EACH OTHER. I shook both their hands. I thanked them both. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. Thank you AJ. Carmel, CA (I'm not on Long Island anymore) read more

I've been searching for a 1992 Honda key. After unsuccessful tries at the usual hardware places, I arrived at this shop one minute before closing. Knowing they were closing, I intended to only ask if they had the blank and would return if they did. Not only did they have the blank, they graciously cut 2 keys. The shop was full with employees getting ready to check out for the day. I observed great comradely, joking, laughing as they left the shop. The friendly gentleman and kind woman that stayed behind gave me great service. My experience was so positive, I would definitely recommend this place. Many establishments fail to understand what customer service means. This place seems to know how to treat their customers. Thank you. read more
