After self-installing a smart-doorlock, I accidentally locked myself out on a weekend. I called a…read morecouple of local locksmiths and found this fantastic company. Jorge gave me the option of coming out later that day. When he promptly arrived, he quickly assessed the situation and recommended changing the key to match the rest of our home's exterior locks. He got to work and was researching whether or not my specific lock was able to be rekeyed. The information on the lock vendor's website was not thorough and explicit as to whether or not that model could be rekeyed. After about an hour of troubleshooting , Jorge eventually came to the conclusion that we could not rekey. He apologized for any inconvenience and only charged me for the unlock service. A few days later, he messaged back to let me know he called the manufacturer's technical support and verified that our specific model is, in fact, not able to be rekeyed. Jorge went above and beyond. Not sure if it was driven by curiosity or just doing a complete job for his clients. Regardless, it was an exceptional customer service experience and I wish there were more Jorge's providing services.

Once upon a time this was a great locksmith. I had all my residential and industrial lock work…read moredone by them (in the store,) Then about 2008 things seemed to go downhill. There were new people running it who looked like a couple of Samoan guys and they couldn't get anything right. Even a simple dirt-common Schlage door key had to be brought back twice before it would work at all, and even then it was stiff. They told me a Chicago double-side key I needed a copy of was a "special" key which would cost $ 11 to copy. No it isn't. When I protested, they dropped the price to $ 6. Which is still a bit high. Several other Chicago keys I had copied, did not work. How can you screw up a key copy? I had to bring the entire locks back in and wait, while they fiddled with the locksets until the keys worked. But surprise...they didn't work the other locks which use the same key, when I got home! The guys running the shop joked "You should have taken it to a real locksmith!" No kidding. In their defense, since I had to come back multiple times to get a key that finally worked, they gave me a free copy. Which didn't work.

In case you are wondering, the keys were for 2012 Toyota Camry and a 2010 Dodge Challenger. Let me just say that for both key fobs, service charge, cutting and programming of the keys, came out to about what Toyota dealership quoted me just for the 1 key.
