When you are two working parents, sometimes you have to order. So, the expectation that you GET what you order should be a foregone conclusion. I ordered the 4 taco combo to share, drove to pick up, drove home, and realized they forgot to include tortillas for the tacos. Drove back, they offered me a double order of tortillas to make up for it... not sure how that helps, but OK... drove back home. Now my food is cold, I've wasted precious time that is already limited with my family, and my order is still not right. Soggy tostada, no extra avocado like I asked for, the food looks like they dumped a pail full of slop into the to-go container. What really pisses me off is I tipped 20% on the order because I like to support my local businesses. $60 wasted for this meal. DO YOUR JOBS, or don't be in business. read more

A horrible experience! My first and last time here! Ordered food to pick up over the phone. The lady keeps asking me to repeat myself. Get there pick up food, the guy has no idea what's going on or what is in our order. Gives me a bag of food, and when we get home some of our food was missing. Called to see if we could get a refund the lady tells me "ahh yeah we have your food here", and I asked for a refund. To which she tells me she couldn't refund it "because she doesn't know how to work the computer" she told me I could Drive back (a 30 min drive btw) and they could give us the food. So i drove back, as it's Mother's Day and my moms food wasn't included in our pick up, and had now been sitting for over an hour. I get in there is a line, I wait patiently and when I get to the front; the guy at the front asks me how many people, and I said "I'm picking up an order that was missed" and he holds his hand up in my face like "wait" and then waves the people waiting in line behind me to help them and doesn't return. I stand there waiting, and then the same guy who handed us the first part of the order comes up, and doesn't know what's going on when I asked for my order. He goes to the back, brings out a foil dish, and I asked him to confirm that's our missing food, and he shrugs and says "I don't know". Not one person even apologized to us, not the lady on the phone, the guy who rudely put his hand in my face, or the clueless kid bringing food out! I asked if there was a manager or someone I could talk to and then guy goes "nah, he's not working" and goes on to help the lady behind me. Horrible customer service. These folks make a powerful and tasty house margarita. Their portion sizes are generous, and the food is good. Having grown up in southern Arizona I have developed a taste for a particular style of authentic Mexican food so I believe my "good" is probably most people's "very good" or "excellent". Of course, taste is subjective. They serve this really nice shredded cabbage along with the complementary chips and salsa, which is almost a meal in itself. We've never sat in the bar area but it looks like folks in there have a lot of fun. This is probably a family run business. There's a young man who works there (teenager we think) who impresses us with his professionalism and enthusiasm each time we visit. read more

Pretty good food, but I gauge a mexican restaurant by it's beans and rice. This place has beans that are so smashed they are thin as water. The rice was dry, over cooked and flavorless. I love this restaurant!! I've gone here since I was in high school and that was 10 years ago. This family-owned restaurant provides such a cozy, family atmosphere and has such good food for such reasonable prices. The queso is literally like a fondue which is exactly what I like in a queso dip. The classic margaritas are not too sweet and are absolutely delicious. The chicken enchiladas are my go to and never disappoint! My boyfriend got the Chile relleno that was oddly omelet style which we didn't expect, but was quite delicious! They even stuffed them with chicken requested by my boyfriend. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service was just a little bit off. We came on a Sunday around 4pm and it was very, very slow. A woman greeted us and sat us down. She didn't seem very happy to see us there and did not like when we had questions or modifications. We had to stop her multiple times just to get a word in because she would just walk away in the middle of us talking. I normally don't stray from my taquerias when I'm craving Mexican food. I like authentic style burritos and tacos when the mood hits. My general rule is to avoid "family Mexican restaurants' as the experience usually results in a higher price and less enthusiastic cuisine. Pasion Tequila is different from that. It boasts great food and reasonable prices. I ordered the pollo a la diabla -- which is like the ever-popular in Mexican cuisine "camarones a la diabla", but with chicken instead of shrimp. DELICIOUS! Also, you start with chips and salsa -- but they also bring you a small bowl of the house pico de gallo, which is cabbage-based, spicy and a bit of heaven in a bowl. I see that others have mentioned this in their review, and you should take note of this as well: it's really worth it to stop by here just to try this. This place is very popular, and there was soon a line out the door waiting for a table (on a Thursday early evening, mind you). We came rather early (5:30 p.m.) so we were seated right away. Others after us seemed to have to wait for 15 to 20 minutes. But it's worth the wait. Also, there's a very small bar immediately off the hostess area where you can cocktail and sit on a stool while you're waiting for you table. Full bar = delicious margaritas. I am right there with the last reviewer. Please don't have a vegetarian section on your menu if the food isn't vegetarian. The beans have lard and the rice has chicken broth. I am sure many vegetarians have ordered their vegetarian options assuming they are actually vegetarian. So glad I asked them. There wasn't another option of rice and the black beans tasted like they were out of a can - zero seasoning. As for gluten free, I asked about the meal I ordered but clearly it was in there somewhere. Man I love spending my evening sweating and crapping (yeah TMI oh well). Ok so let's say you are an average joe - not veg or have allergies. How was it? Meh maybe 3 star. The guacamole wasn't very flavorful and neither were the sauces. The food was just pretty bland. Such delicious food! We got the Enchilada Lorena and the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. They were great for take out and packaged so well. I don't know if the picture does it justice but the Enchilada was huge and great for splitting for two people. They also threw in some chips and salsa which we weren't expecting but 100% appreciated. La comida es fantástica! I love this place and can't get enough. Heidi's about ready to kill me though because every time I want to go out to eat I always say this place first! We've been loyal patrons since they opened. The atmosphere is good, not really great, but good enough. The staff are awesome, all are friendly and always ready to help. I never see the bottom of my chip basket which scores big in my book. I normally get the polla a la crema which is delicious. It comes with onions, green peppers, mushroom, and of course chicken in a delicious cream sauce. The tortilla's could be homemade, I'm not sure but they sure do taste like it. I have now started get my normal though the pollo en mole which always a big decider for me on whether or not the restaurant has what it takes, whether or not the sauce is from scratch or a bag. There's is definitely home made. Perfect hints of heat, spice, peanut, and chocolate. Again, you roll your own in their fabulous tortillas, yum! I crave this stuff. I will be going back again and again, as long as they have me! My only criticism is that it might be a bit small and the bar is definitely small. They do make great margarita's though! read more

The single worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I'll preface this by saying I understand most WA Mexican food is not very good. This place just had no redeeming qualities. Dimly lit, dingy seating area, barely clean utensils. Extraordinarily slow service. Had to practically beg for the check. Got an enchilada plate. Beans were almost liquid - clearly nuked from a can. Rice was served ice cold. Had probably been sitting in an unheated pot for at least 30 minutes. Enchilada sauce was clearly either canned or made very hastily. Food was bland and tasteless. I am a regular at Pasion, we have followed this family on their new adventure from when they use to own and operate the Jalisco in Bothell on 228th. What sets them apart now is that their menu is not franchise, it is carefully thought out with favorite family, traditional Mexican recipes straight from the heart of Mexico. This family has had the pleasure and honor watching our kids grow up over the years as we have got to see their kids grow up. We always are asked "how is so and so doing, if they are not out to dine for the night". Which validates they run their business with Passion, Care and Love. This will be our new favorite Mexican restaurant. We kept passing this place and noticing that it is always packed at night......what is this Pasion Tequila?! It a small restaurant but it gets packed quick starting at 5pm. The chips and salsa are awesome. The Azul Margaritas are amazing! They are the type of margaritas that don't taste like there is any alcohol in them so you keep drinking and then you feel it later cuz it taste so good that you had 5 of them!! As my first time here the plate I got was the Alitas De Puerco(fall of the bone delicious) and this dish was on a completely different level. My wife gave this restaurant an "East LA stamp of approval"!!! There is not that many Mexican restaurants that can match up to the good quality mexican food like they have in Southern California here in the northwest. Keeping this short and simple: Best Mexican food in the area! We've tried several Mexican restaurants in the Woodinville/Bothell and north Kirkland region, and this place takes the cake. Friendly servers and prompt service. The owner circulates throughout the restaurant frequently chatting with customers. When it comes to the food, they start you off with hot chips, a tasty salsa and a unique take on pico de gallo (cabbage, jalapenos, tomatoes, onions). I've had about six dishes at Pasion since discovering it a few months ago. Fajitas, carne asada and taco salads are all great, but my favorite is the seafood chimichanga. Shrimp, scallops and Dungeness crab inside. The dish is a bit pricey (around $17) but they give you two large chimichangas, and they're rich. A good dish to share. While I was out in Washington for work, my coworker brought us here. First of all, as packed as it was, we didn't have much of a wait. I was shocked. This tiny place had people spilling all over the place. The bar area is a mess with people crammed, and bartenders slingin' drinks as fast as they can. A place like this with that many people would've easily been a 2 hour wait here in Michigan. The margaritas were strong, and the food was excellent. They have a very extensive menu. For someone who is dairy free, I was happy to find plenty to choose from. I would definitely go back if I should visit Washington again! read more

We have been going here for years. I do not know what happened but I am sad we will no longer be returning. We usually sit in the bar and there were seats open. We walked in and it smelled of vomit. Then it would go away and then in 15 minutes it would come back. It was awful. The food that came out was disgusting and not edible. I had crunch rice covered is super oily cheese. My chicken was so dry and thin it could have been jerky. My husbands meal shockingly was worse. He ordered his usual Chicken mole. It came in a pool of oil and it definitely did not even have any hints of peanut butter or chocolate at all. It was flavorless pool of oil with again the same chicken jerky. We both took those nasty first bites, smelled the disgusting vomit coming through again and quickly asked for the bill. They were extremely rude and did not even ask what was the issue. Arrive. With party of 11, including two Littles (mine). Chips and sala appeared while being seating, including their unique and delicious cabbage-heavy pico de gallo. Drink orders taken within minutes of sitting down, and appear like magic immediately-- including short to-go cups of water for the Littles. Meanwhile a birthday party erupts on our right and the enthusiastic staff comes out to sing a modified Spanglish happy birthday to some protesting old git who suffers the indignity of a glittering sombrero and being called "Ponchito" by the wait staff. Good fun! Orders taken with precision I stumble over a few vegetarian options in the menu and settle on the spinach enchilada in Chipotle sauce. Spoiler--if you're a vegan you're fucked! Hubster's orders carnitas de puerco, Littles quesadillas with French fries. Special mild sala appears for the Littles, then their meals just like that. Gotta say, service is 5 stars at this point. The meal itself: Littles eat like starving wolves ( this is sometimes a bad sign). Husband eats like starving wolf (nothing new here). My enchilada with chipotle sauce arrives. Beans, passable. Rice, excellent save the excessive salt. Avocado garnish-- flawless. Enchilada. .. Fresh spinach, nice cream sauce full of fat. Chipotle sauce. ... WEAK. Think my order must have been confounded. No smoky flavor, no heat. Meh. Tasted like jar sala only less spicy I ate it, and it was enjoyable, but disappointed with the salsa. Too full to take it to dessert. Would def come back. I'm not a fan of this restaurant and I've been twice. The first time I actually got pieces of broken plate in my food. It was returned to the kitchen and my new meal came out, once again with broken plate in the food. The meal was comped but what's the point if you don't get to eat. I did try it a second time to give it a chance and it was just ok. I love Mexican food and have yet to find a restaurant in the Bothell area worth going to. I've been hard pressed to find a really great Mexican food joint, something unique and full of flavor is what I've been dreaming about. I get so tired of crappy pico de gallo and guacamole! So having just moved from Woodinville (where Oobas is the closest you get to tasty Mexican) but far from authentic, to Bothell, I had to consult my peeps on Yelp to find where to go. Hence my adventure to Pasion Tequila! Def my local fav mexy joint now. As other reviewers mentioned the crab and spinach dip is real good and pretty unique to find on a mexican menu. Their roasted salsa and slaw mix to dip the chips in was great. For din din I had a big arse enchilada with pulled beef. It was just right! One of the guys in my group got a Margarita and it was cold, strong, and delish! Service was great and very friendly. Served with rice & beans (I asked to have black beans with my meal) $10.50 I also ordered ONE child's chicken quesadilla, with a side of fries...and it was enough to feed my six-year old and my two-year old. For about $5. My husband ordered two drinks...I can't remember what they were called but they came with a Redbull can in the drink and the server comes over with a knife and cuts the can when you are ready to suck your drink out of a straw (to avoid spillage). I ordered two LARGE Bud Light's on draft. My husband ordered the Fajita's Pasion - which are like your usual fajitas except it comes with BACON!! At the last minute my husband ordered another beer (a Pacifico). So: 2 adult meals 1 child meal 1 extra child drink 2 BIG Bud Lights 2 Big Tornado drinks (or whatever they're called) 1 Pacifico Our total bill was $73. Totally fun! Totally worth the price! I was between giving 1 or 2 stars to this place. I will not be going back. Food: sloppy Mexican food that lacked flavor. My plate should not be swimming in cheese and sauce like it is a cream based soup when I ordered enchiladas. Service: The hostess was grumpy and rude when we walked in. We had an EXCELLENT server. He was polite, prompt, helpful, and waters didn't go empty. Sadly, I can't bump it up to two stars just based on his service. Price: Very overpriced for the taste of food. However, if you like LOTS of food on your plate with very little flavor this is the place to go. Their prices did not meet the quality of food. Spending a good portion of my life in the Kenmore/Bothell area, the extent of my local mexican far has consisted of Gallo De Oro on main street Bothell. A couple years ago this was fine, the place has an outdoor patio and you could get a massive quesidilla with a diet coke and unlimited chips and salsa for about 10 bucks. But having lived in California for the last 2 years, coming back Gallo just doesn't cut it anymore. My friend recommended I try this place out before I give up on good Mexican fare close to home. I must say, this is the fanciest Mexican joint I've ever been in! Dim lighting, painted walls, dark colored wood decor, decorative clock and paintings, not the cheesy mexican reds/yellows paintings of ladies with baskets on their heads that I'm used to. I figured out that this place used to be a thai joint, which explains the color/decor interior theme. Either way, I hadn't had a sip of water all day and I asked the bus boy who brought us our water glasses if he could just give us a whole jug of water, and I planned to drown myself in H20 by the time the meal was over. He smiled and said no problem, and a jug of ice water was on our table :) My friend recommended the shrimp fajitas, and frankly those are always a good choice, so shrimp fajitas it was! At this point I will say the only downside of this restaurant is that the menu items are not very cheap, I think even the small combos on the menu were in the 10-12 dollar range, and the shrimp fajitas were about 16 dollars. With that said, the chips and salsa here are GREAT. They bring you a huge basket of fresh, crisp, non-oily tortilla chips. A bowl of your standard tomato salsa, but also a bowl of surprisingly spicy pico de gallo. Both were very flavorful and completely hit the spot. The food took a little longer than other mexican joints to come out, which frankly I enjoyed. There is something wrong when your fajitas come out 3 minutes after you order them. When my food came out, I could tell the veggies and the prawns were just cooked, and weren't sitting in a pre-portioned freezer bag waiting to be thrown under a broiler. The amount of food was right on for the amount of money I paid, the quality was superb. The onions and peppers were thick cut and still had a good crunch to them, but still hot and sauteed in a really flavorful mix of oil and spices. I also liked how they used HUGE prawns in the fajitas, and not those wimpy little ones you find at most places. The beans and rice were standard and tasty, and the guacamole was awesome. By the end of the night I had enjoyed a mexican feast, in a restaurant that had amazing ambiance, with excellent service. The bill was a little more than you will spend at most other mexican places, but it was worth every penny.
