Food is amazing as always. I come here very often but could not get past our horrible service. Coming from a server myself that really saddens me. She came to our table 3 times, take order, drop food, drop check. We needed more water/napkins but even when she was in the room she refused to look out way, despite other tables being around us as well. Another table I was watching and it took over 20 minutes for her to cash them out and they ended up leaving cash and walked out. She spent a lot of time either talking in the bar with others, or stepping outside, but never in the dining room where her tables were (had 8 active tables). We had to get her attention to get the check and to cash us out. Never asked how we were doing. Never offered drinks. When she came to drop off check she didn't even look at us. Felt very uncomfortable and like she hated her job. I have seen her many times before, but never waited on by her. Here's my problem, raised in Southern California, so Mexican food I'm very much a snob, just because you put cheese on it doesn't make it good ... the salsa was weak, to runny for my liking, now the bean dip, it had FLAVOR so I asked how they make it, its a little unhealthy but you can taste the difference, it's LARD and I do miss it but again, it's so favorable.... So I order a few things, the best thing was the beans ... it was delicious.... but the rest, I have to say, it was a disappointment... Our first experience here. When we drive by this place it's always packed and the yelp reviews were generally positive. So we decided to give it a go. Two aspects to our visit: service and food quality. If I was to rate this place on food alone I'd give it a 4. My wife did the vegetarian platter and I did the spinach enchilada. The platter was average at best but the enchilada was quite good. The chips and salsa was very good. The Cadillac Margarita was also very good and strong. Where they will get dinged is the service. The host was probably 12 which was a little awkward. Not what I expected. When we were seated our waiter took their time to get to us and there were not that many people in there. He didn't smile unless I cracked a joke. But most employees didn't smile either. Food came out very fast which was nice. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. We've been here quite a bit since we moved to Bothell. We were looking for a new Mexican place and couldn't quite find the right one until we tried Pasion Tequila. It's a small place, it's usually packed and we've always had to wait at least 5 min but it's well worth it. The chips and salsa are great. Pasion Tequila, makes some kick ass margaritas, like they should be. The food is definitely more authentic than Azteca, or any other chain Mexican restaurants. I've decided to try every plate. My favorites so far are the Alitas De Puerco(fall of the bone delicious), and the Mole Enchilada. Some other really good plates are the carne asada, fajitas, and a ribeye plate but I can't quite remember the name. The prices aren't bad either. read more

When you are two working parents, sometimes you have to order. So, the expectation that you GET what you order should be a foregone conclusion. I ordered the 4 taco combo to share, drove to pick up, drove home, and realized they forgot to include tortillas for the tacos. Drove back, they offered me a double order of tortillas to make up for it... not sure how that helps, but OK... drove back home. Now my food is cold, I've wasted precious time that is already limited with my family, and my order is still not right. Soggy tostada, no extra avocado like I asked for, the food looks like they dumped a pail full of slop into the to-go container. What really pisses me off is I tipped 20% on the order because I like to support my local businesses. $60 wasted for this meal. DO YOUR JOBS, or don't be in business. read more

It wasn't bad, but nothing remarkable either. We went mid-week, when our day ran really long. We arrived and were seated quickly. A waitress brought water and the traditional basket of chips and salsa in passing, literally dropping them on our table as she was passing by on the way to another table. There were 2 salsas, one of a more traditional style, and the other was drier, with what I think was cabbage as its base. My granddaughter ordered a hamburger and fries, and I ordered the enchilada tapatia. The meal was brought quickly, in about 10 minutes. Mine came the the traditional runny refried beans and boring Mexican rice. Nothing at all unique about that, and it's my own personal disappointment for most Mexican restaurant meals. The enchilada was tasty, and more than enough for a serving. I know they put the sour cream and toppings on it for presentation, but it also means that I can't bring leftovers home; they just don't reheat properly. On a positive note, the margarita was delicious, you could taste the tequila. I will probably visit again, just to see if they have something better to offer. read more

My family and I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and the restaurant was busy with several large parties. We still had very friendly service despite the staff being very busy. The chips were warm and crunchy, and the salsa was refreshing and spicy. The kids enjoyed their meals of cheese quesadillas and chicken tenders (there's always that one picky eater). I ordered the tacos al carbon, which are described as, "Two soft tortillas (corn or flour) simmered in red sauce (mild) and filled with strips of skirt steak and a chunky salsa." The steak was delicious in this dish! My husband ordered some combo plate, and he enjoyed his food, as well. As you can see from the pictures, the portions are plentiful. It's tough for me to rate this one. The food is good, the service pleasant, the drinks well made. However, as a vegetarian I feel deceived by their menu. They have several items listed as vegetarian that are not. They use chicken broth in the rice and lard in the beans, yet they include these as vegetarian plates on their menu. Chicken is NOT a vegetable. I am Hispanic and from the southwest, I know these ingredients are considered traditional by some, but they are unnecessary to make good beans and rice and are not how many families make it. If this restaurant wants to use these ingredients they could at least update their menu and stop calling dishes vegetarian, it's dishonest. read more

A friend has been talking about this place for a while. As you might assume, most Mexican places taste fairly similar. Being in that rare mood where anything sounded good, we decided to try this place. The prices are fair and the food was really good. They started us off with a large basket of warm chips. Unlike most places, the basket was huge and the chips weren't cool or room temp, they were hot. I had the Flautus, there were crisp, but the chicken was flavorful and juicy. The rice and beans also had a zippy flavor letting me know the spirit of Mexico was alive and well here. My only true complaint was the teaspoon of guacamole. When an item comes with guacamole, I like to see a large spoonful, worthy of a mouthful. This was hands down the most flavorful Mexican meal I have had in some time. I will certainly be back to sample more of the menu. read more

Ok for full disclosure we come here way too much. At this point, the bartender knows our margarita order. Definitely a sign that we may end up here too often. They are always fast with warm chips, spicy salsa and pickled cabbage. Definitely a great way to start an evening of Mexican food and drinking. This place has a restaurant and then bar with indoor and outdoor-ish (think sunroom) seating. It is always full of locals and often is on the loud side which is fine with me - full of life and energy. So five stars for margaritas - get the Cadillac margarita. Four stars for food since some dishes are just ok. I like the steak fajitas. Three and a half stars for the building and ambience. It is not the nicest looking but is always fun and friendly. If you are ever wondering "where is that guy today???", there is a good chance I am here. read more

The food is the best Mexican food in the northwest. I traveled Mexico for six years, and lived in Texas for 26 years. I've been in Seattle for 7 years and I keep coming back. Their margaritas are made without measuring shot glasses, which is the way it should be. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive. The bar is cozy, warm and friendly. We tried them out on New Years Eve, so it was pretty busy as one might expect. We squeezed into the small bar and had a great margarita while we waited for our table. We were seated within 15 min and decided we really should try one more of those margaritas to make sure they were as good as we thought! Yes, they are excellent! We ordered some bean dip to start off (nothing really special, since moving to the NW in 2010, the one thing I do miss about Southern "Mexican" food restaurants is the cheese dip. I like it when the bean dip is covered with a layer of thick, creamy, queso dip with chilis. Oh well, the sacrifice is worth having decidedly better entrees to enjoy! We did like the cabage condomint that was served with the chips, along with the fresh, housemade salsa. I had the Tacos al Carbon - two large tacos, with flour tortillas lightly dipped in a red sauce and nicely stuffed with a generous serving of moist, spicy pork carnitas. Served with good rice and a choice of refried or black beans, this was a very tasty and generous amount of food. These were different tacos than I've had before - the tortillas held up even after being dipped in sauce, but it was kind of weird for a food you eat with your hands. However, it was so tasty I didn't mind getting my fingers covered in red sauce! My hubby had the lamb shank and he thoroughly enjoyed it! The meat was moist and nicely seasoned, falling off the bone as he forked his way through it! I snagged a bite for myself and it was so flavorful I briefly questioned my choice of the tacos! The sides of rice and beans were typical, but tasted really good and were topped with a generous amount of melted cheese. My husband appreciated the container of warm flour tortillas - 5 instead of the usual 3 - but he only at 3 :) Even though the restaurant was crowded and kind of loud, we were pleased with our service and the food. Since moving to the area in mid-Dec, this is the best full-service Mexican restaurant we have found. There are a lot of choices here and each offer their own advantages/disadvantages. I found Pasion Tequila to be authentic, provides good service and puts out some flavorful, generous servings of food at a reasonable price. read more

The pico de gallo is minced and not chunky which was the first thing that caught my eye. It's different and easier to eat. I ordered one of the preferred dishes on the menu, the vegetarian dish which is sautéed vegetables on a bed of rice and you choose your sauce you want on top from over 5 different selections. It came with corn tortillas and was delicious! The plate is huge so I took some home with me after because it's more than enough for two meals. I also ordered the jalapeño margarita, it wasn't what I was expecting.. just two jalapeños and a lime dropped into some margarita mix. I feel like mincing a jalapeño and putting a little bit more work into it would be more worth the price and you would be able to taste the flavor more. Horrible experience. We noticed "OK" food safety outside the door. But we still wanted to try since yelp has good reviews. First the waiter was rude. As usual we got the complementary chips and salsa. But we noticed that the person who brought it to the table kept munching something. That was very awkward. We then ordered chicken wings for starters. He brought us what looked like a mixture of chicken and some other meat. Probably beef or pork rib. We complained this to the waiter. He neither accepted nor apologized. Instead he kept insisting that it was chicken. We have been eating chicken since our childhood. We know how it looks like! After arguing with us for 5 mins, he just picked that piece and went inside. Neither replaced or apologized. Didn't even take it off the bill. Even the other food that we ordered didn't taste great. Stiff drinks, delicious food, and if you sit in the cantina area, the bartenders are great! This is my favorite place to go for Mexican on the east side. I've had several things on the menu and never been disappointed, though if I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to say the traditional Molcajete is superb. All of their margaritas are great, especially their "Skinny" margarita - which isn't some artificial low-carb girly drink - it's actually a more traditional margarita, made with pure lime juice and agave, rather than a mix. A horrible experience! My first and last time here! Ordered food to pick up over the phone. The lady keeps asking me to repeat myself. Get there pick up food, the guy has no idea what's going on or what is in our order. Gives me a bag of food, and when we get home some of our food was missing. Called to see if we could get a refund the lady tells me "ahh yeah we have your food here", and I asked for a refund. To which she tells me she couldn't refund it "because she doesn't know how to work the computer" she told me I could Drive back (a 30 min drive btw) and they could give us the food. So i drove back, as it's Mother's Day and my moms food wasn't included in our pick up, and had now been sitting for over an hour. I get in there is a line, I wait patiently and when I get to the front; the guy at the front asks me how many people, and I said "I'm picking up an order that was missed" and he holds his hand up in my face like "wait" and then waves the people waiting in line behind me to help them and doesn't return. I stand there waiting, and then the same guy who handed us the first part of the order comes up, and doesn't know what's going on when I asked for my order. He goes to the back, brings out a foil dish, and I asked him to confirm that's our missing food, and he shrugs and says "I don't know". Not one person even apologized to us, not the lady on the phone, the guy who rudely put his hand in my face, or the clueless kid bringing food out! I asked if there was a manager or someone I could talk to and then guy goes "nah, he's not working" and goes on to help the lady behind me. Horrible customer service. These folks make a powerful and tasty house margarita. Their portion sizes are generous, and the food is good. Having grown up in southern Arizona I have developed a taste for a particular style of authentic Mexican food so I believe my "good" is probably most people's "very good" or "excellent". Of course, taste is subjective. They serve this really nice shredded cabbage along with the complementary chips and salsa, which is almost a meal in itself. We've never sat in the bar area but it looks like folks in there have a lot of fun. This is probably a family run business. I love this restaurant!! I've gone here since I was in high school and that was 10 years ago. This family-owned restaurant provides such a cozy, family atmosphere and has such good food for such reasonable prices. The queso is literally like a fondue which is exactly what I like in a queso dip. The classic margaritas are not too sweet and are absolutely delicious. The chicken enchiladas are my go to and never disappoint! My boyfriend got the Chile relleno that was oddly omelet style which we didn't expect, but was quite delicious! They even stuffed them with chicken requested by my boyfriend. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service was just a little bit off. We came on a Sunday around 4pm and it was very, very slow. A woman greeted us and sat us down. She didn't seem very happy to see us there and did not like when we had questions or modifications. We had to stop her multiple times just to get a word in because she would just walk away in the middle of us talking.
