The staff is amazing and very friendly and courteous. The only thing is if your appointment is on Tuesday that's usually the day that Dr Elman follows up with patients that had surgery so you may not want to make your appointment on those days if you are just coming in for a regular checkup because there could be just a tad bit of a wait. Other than that I love coming here doctor Elman it's really excellent. If I had to have surgery again in my eye I would definitely trust Dr Ellen to do it.

I finally saw Dr.Rutzen he was so nice and friendly he took the time to explain all of my options and he also explained each one in detail and also the cost associated with each different option. I left the office feeling very comfortable with my decision to come here. My husband showed up for his appointment, and it was with a completely new doctor he'd never met. Now, it seems Dr. Betancourt is gone -- also ZERO communication to patients. It also appears the practice has been sold, as they are now going by the name "Horizon Eye Physicians." When a medical practice is sold, there should be a state law that patients are informed. Dr. Jan was friendly and professional the whole time and addressed all of my concerns about my vision. In the end he told me I was in between my current prescription and the next so I could go either way but since I've been noticing that my vision had worsened I could move to the next prescription. Terrible Experience & Unprofessional Handling of Insurance…read more I arrived at this office dealing with severe eye irritation that left my left eye swollen shut and highly sensitive to light. Unfortunately, the care and professionalism I received matched the physical pain I was in. Upon entering, the staff was unapproachable and cold, and Dr. Jan addressed me only by name to give staff directions in front of me while entirely skipping a basic greeting. Before my exam, which included a painful laser photo that left me needing a moment to recover. I explicitly verified my insurance coverage again. Despite having called ahead to confirm insurance, receiving two text reminders, and having the appointment confirmed day-of, the receptionist shouted across a crowded, very small waiting room immediately after my procedure: "You can't see the doctor without paying out of pocket. We don't take "Name of insurance!" She literally yelled outloud the name of my medical insurance carrier. When I reasonably asked why my appointment and insurance had been repeatedly confirmed beforehand, the receptionist simply shrugged her shoulders coldly and demanded I leave, while Dr. Jan closed her office door to avoid the situation steps away from me. To be subjected to public humiliation while in acute physical pain, with zero empathy, compassion, or accountability from the staff or the physician is completely unacceptable. I left in pain and deeply disappointed by this establishment. Avoid this office inside of Costco if you expect basic respect and competent administrative communication.

The eye doctor is amazing or the 3 star rating would be 2. I returned for an eye exam on 10/4/23 and didn't let the fact that Lynn gave me many glaring looks bother me too much. After all I'm better than that, but what really almost set me off was the fact that while I was being fitted for a new pair of glasses, Lynn walked behind me and made a hand gesture like Fk you to me. She thought I didn't see her, but they have the mirrors on the fitting desks and all over the walls. I really wanted to confront her about it, but just let it slide. I'm actually still wearing frames and high-quality lenses I got from them years ago, and when I stopped in, they adjusted them for me on the spot for free with a smile. Hands down the best customer service and product quality in the area. From the thorough exams and frame fitting to the lifetime care and adjustments, Annapolis Opticians sets the absolute standard. I genuinely miss having them as my local shop, but they've earned a customer for life. Still an easy 5 stars!
