I ordered a two pairs of glasses, one for reading, one for everything else. When I was chose them the male worker told me they'd be about $150 and $250. That sounded like a deal. When I picked them up they were $900+. He'd been talking about the frames NOT the frames and lenses, and without consulting me he had ordered the most expensive lenses. I was shocked. They had a responsibility to make sure I knew the prices, and had many opportunities to tell me. In addition they used the temples from my old glasses for the new pair. I'd left them behind because the bridge was broken and I thought they needed them to help pick out the next pair b/c I wanted the same frame. No one told me this either. If you are looking to upgrade your eyewear, I cannot recommend Annapolis Opticians enough. The selection of top quality, in style frames is second to none in this area. My initial visit was accompanying my husband and step-daughter. Both were interested in new frames. They were hopeful to find what they wanted here, but not expecting it (if you know what I mean). Due to the pandemic restrictions, they are appointment only. Scheduling an appointment online was a breeze and they had lots of availability to choose from. I was very happy that they allowed all three of us attend the appointment together (I was serving as fashion consultant!) and they had an excellent system for sanitation (including multiple air purifiers running throughout the store). I absolutely felt safe but not restricted. We could try on whatever we wanted and they sanitized all the frames we touched once we were done. It was a breeze! My husband and my step-daughter found perfect frames for themselves. Me, on the other hand, (whom I should mention again was not in the market for new frames because I am very happy with the ones I currently have - I was only there to make sure my husband did not make any bad glasses decisions...) found not only one but three different frames that I was over the moon about. Damnit! Now, they are a high end shop, so these were certainly not budget frames. This also meant that three new pairs of glasses was not in my budget. I narrowed it down to one eventually (much, MUCH deliberation) and I could not be any happier with my decision. Graham and Adam both took lots of time to talk through all of the options and measurements, etc. with all three of us, both when we ordered the frames and when we came in for the fitting. I was most impressed by their unrushed, thoughtful approach. Graham's obvious perfectionism in everything that he does was also much appreciated! My husband is on his first pair of bifocals and they took a little extra time to talk through this with him to make sure he was happy. I tell you what folks. You get what you pay for in a lot of different industries these days. My husband and I just paid a lot of money to "reframe" three members of our family and we couldn't be more satisfied with our purchase. This is a premier retailer in the area with exquisite customer service. I am not surprised that customers travel from near and far to shop here. This place deserves 5 stars in my book. They were recommended to me by close friends and even though they didn't "officially" take my vision plan, I decided to go anyway. I think the first thing that impressed me was the phone call making my first appointment. To me the appointment / reservation is the most important thing with any service or restaurant - it is the first impression! The friendly and intelligent administrative person on the phone was genuinely concerned and interested in helping me. I had to reschedule my appointment about 10 times due to my poor planning and they didn't seem to mind a bit. Their vision tests are more comprehensive than the discount firms or chain stores. Their doctors are very professional, thorough and patient! I had my full medical eye exam a few months earlier and just went here for a vision test - so no need for the eye drops! Yes, I hate those eye drops! They have a huge selection of frames but what sets them apart is the quality of their lenses. They assisted me in picking out the perfect frames for the right price. When the glasses are ready for pick up, they spend the time to ensure they fit correctly and place on your face okay. Annapolis Opticians encourages you to come back anytime for a free adjustment. Glasses always loosen up and it is so easy to walk in to have them adjusted. They remember you by name and assist you right away. This is the type of service I gladly pay extra for. read more

I can't believe this place doesn't have a review yet. I walked in and the two ladies were ultra helpful without being pushy and tried to find a frame among their vast collection that looked good on my face. There are so many different frames and brands- this is the best selection that I have seen in Annapolis. Only thing is, they didn't seem like they had bustling optometrist appts lined up but I already have my prescription, I just need some fab frames. Prices are a little higher but their frames are also way cuter and more fashionable than some of the other places with limited selections. I say get your prescription and then come here to check out your options. i.e.: I found an awesome Kate Spade frame for $222. Single lens go for $90 and then the anti glare and all that jazz is $140ish? totalling $450ish. I might have to save up for that or shop around a little more but at least I found a frame that accentuates my features. They didn't know about Yelp so I hope they go in and unlock their business. read more

But, Graham, his stunning sister Julianna, and her husband Nic, have transformed the place and expanded the top-notch line of eyewear. If you are lucky enough to not need prescription glasses, their line of sunglasses can't be beat. Of course, they can make you prescription lenses for them as well. These guys are the best! I was looking to elevate my sunglasses game from Ray Ban to something a bit more stylish and sophisticated and Nic came to the rescue, suggesting some options before finally landing on some frames from Kala Eyewear. His recommendation of tortoise matte frames was spot on and I left the lenses up to him and was pleasantly surprised to receive gradient lenses which I hadn't had before, but now love because they look great and are super functional as well. They looked so good that my wife started wearing them more than me, and I couldn't object because I enjoyed looking at the frames on her as much as I did wearing them myself. They are honestly the best darn looking glasses I've ever owned. And the quality is incredible. Can't say enough good things! Drove from Hyattsville to check them out. Great customer service with a fantastic selection of frames - edgy, traditional, stuff you don't see elsewhere. Fast-forward 5 months - my fav new glasses had a run in, or more accurately a run over with my car and I now live cross-country. She said to mail in the frames and since they were still under warranty, they'd take care of fixing them. 3 weeks later, they mailed the glasses back & they're good as new! These are crazy times in the midst of a pandemic. So let me tell you a story that will warm your heart! I broke my glasses....my only pair. The place I purchased them from was closed. I searched YELP and found Annapolis Opticians. I called Graham and explained my problem. He asked me to send pictures, and we talked about the problem over the phone. The same day he asked me to drop them off. Although he wasn't able to make a permanent fix. This is because I really damaged them...not his fault. He was able to fix them until I can see my doctor for a new prescription. When that happens, I will return and purchase my new glasses from them. He did all of this and did not charge me. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate his kindness. We should frequent these local businesses when things return to normal. read more

I've been buying glasses regularly for a lot of years. I never look forward to it. I travelled from northern Virginia after hearing this place was different. The experience was nothing short of transformative. I'll never go anywhere else for specs. Nic helped me pick out the perfect frames for looks and function. When he found out I look at computer screens for hours at a time, he found the most light weight and comfortable models in his inventory and had me try them all until I fell for two lovely pairs. During the process, he brought his entire team out to give feedback on appearance. About the selection - not one set of frames are from a mass producer. Each is designer and curated beautifully. I never knew there was such a variety available. Julianna walked me through all of the available lense options and made payment a breeze. I even got a tour of their lab where they do most of the finishing work themselves. Later, when I sent an email about blue light filters questioning their efficacy, Julianna responded with a detailed and well thought out analysis of the various options. Nothing in that email tried to sell me anything. There US doesn't require opticians to be licensed. In my opinion the best opticians in Annapolis due not only to their incredible selection of unique, contemporary styles but also a whole section devoted to vintage frames! I haven't seen a shop as large with as much variety anywhere, and the staff are knowledgeable and attentive. First, I'd like to say these are nice people. My issue was receiving lenses recommended by Mr. Corby that did not suit my needs. While his best recommendation, and I believe well intentioned, the Essilor "computer lenses" were nothing like "occupational" lenses I've had in the past for the same purpose. His recommendation was it could take two months to get use to them. I've never heard of such a long adaptation. Not like I've not worn PALs before. I immediately did not like the lenses at all and wanted to down-grade back to something I was used to which I had expressed a strong preference for originally. Unfortunately, after spending over $400 on lenses alone (my frames) their policy did allow any refund and I could have ended up in $150-200 lenses for the original cost of $400! However, a full refund was also offered and I accepted that. Why would Annapolis Opticians not then fill my lesser needs for the fair and original price quoted on a "lesser" lens type? I was told they would do "nothing more" so I took my refund and went elsewhere. I should add that the refractory exam by Dr. Diffendall I had here was first rate. He listens well and discussed my every concern. His Rx was spot on. read more

Julianna, Nick and the whole team here are amazing. Not only are these the best glasses I've ever had, but the store is so welcoming (they new every customer by name who came in while I was there). They were patient with my while I tried on every frame that caught my eye, from the Ridiculous to the overly practical; they even indulged me by letting me do a fashion show for the team and helping me make my final choices. Once the frames were picked Juliana spent a lot of time, not selling, but educating me on the options for lenses and helping me pick what was best for me. I recently purchased contacts from Annapolis Opticians (Acuvue Oasys one day 90 pk x2). Initially when I ordered them, I was told that I would be able to do a one month supply, which I preferred as this was my first contact purchase. I thought all went well, I received a phone call and was told the contacts were in only a few days later. Minutes later I received a second phone call saying that the wrong contacts had been ordered and they would reorder for me the correct lenses. But with a catch--I could only order a 90 day supply. I was a little apprehensive, but I had tried the samples and liked them so I placed the order (over the phone). Maybe it was my mistake--I should have asked for the price before they were ordered, but I was in a hurry on my way out of work. After only a few more days, I got the call letting me know that my contacts were in again. When I arrived, I was presented with TWO boxes (apparently you can only order in pairs even if your prescription is the same in both eyes!) and told that each would cost a whopping $127 for a total of $254. Now I had never purchased contacts before--I had no idea that this wasn't right until I mentioned the price to someone else. I looked up the same contacts online to see what prices I could find, and wouldn't you know, they were only $85 per box. If you're keeping up with the math here, that's a 49% markup! I paid an extra $42 per box--$84 total. I will be returning to see if they can make it right, but after that I will not be returning to Annapolis Opticians. read more

A careless moment on my part turned into a great experience at Annapolis Opticians. While in town on a road trip, I dropped my very expensive half-frame glasses, and one of the lenses popped out. The plastic retaining strap was broken, so I couldn't perform the repair myself. Concerned about driving on the road with impaired vision (especially at night), I decided that I couldn't wait until I got back to my optician at home for the repair, and the next morning, I ran a quick search for opticians in Annapolis on Yelp. Annapolis Opticians stood out with their favorable reviews, so I figured I'd start there. I was impressed with the atmosphere of the business, and after showing the damage to Nic at the counter, he said that they could fix the lens in less than half an hour at minimal cost. 20 minutes and 10 bucks later, I was back on the road. Graham took great care of me and introduced me to a pair of Adidas frames with interchangeable lenses. Price was right in my budget and they were just what I needed. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the Doctor doing my exam was very thorough, and made sure to explain things to me in a way that I could understand. Terrible opticians. I purchased progressives which had a reading spot about the size of a silver dollar. No relief offered other than "that's just the way it is". I sued. Judge suggested another try at making them. The second lenses were far worse than the first. Caveat emptor: the buyer should be very cautious in dealing with these people. read more
