After almost a 20 minute wait in line I found out we were locked in the store and I asked why are we locked in here? They said "we close at 6 o'clock, 7 days a week". I didn't even think to check the hours on the door because I've never seen a retail establishment close at 6 o'clock on a weekday, especially when Halloween is about a week and a half away. There looked to be a short, dark haired woman who appeared to be the manager (with a line of about seven deep) and supposedly the store closed, who just kept walking back-and-forth, not offering to help with anybody in the line or anything like that every time I've come in here it takes forever and a day to check out. I paid for balloons for a tailgate party that we catered. I came in to pick up my balloons for the party and the store was closed. There were other people waiting outside to pick up balloons. The store was locked because the assistant manager just did not show up. There was a phone number to call but it went straight to voicemail. People were very upset. staff here are not very helpful. There was only one employee, Cindy, that was patient and helpful. The other female employee quoted me an outrageous price just to put helium in the balloon, almost the same cost to buy a huge Mylar balloon that includes helium. She also didn't want to assist me. The male employee, he may be in charge of the balloon area, gave me incorrect information. I gave him a coupon, I didn't have a chance to look at the details of a coupon beforehand, and he told me I couldn't use the coupon on some of the bigger items I purchased. I believed what he said so I didn't apply the coupon on those items. When I got home, I looked at the coupon and I realized it didn't say it excludes the items he mentioned. The Danada location has extremely poor customer service. I called 3 times before I got through. The first two times I was on endless hold, 10 minutes each time. The third call was answered and I wasn't put on hold, but the employee acted annoyed by my questions. I was asking for assistance in placing an online order for my workplace, and I had received specific instructions and wanted to make sure I input it correctly. Finally, I decided to go elsewhere. When it comes to selecting the perfect craft for the parties as well as with returning any excess merchandise, this is perfect location to visit. Well organized and great location. read more

HUGE shout out to Julia, who was working the register and was extremely patient with us when processing a discount retroactively on things we had purchased the week prior. Despite her having to scan and re-scan everything in our bags (we had about $160 worth of party supplies), there was no hint of frustration or impatience on her part. I could tell that she was new because she was asking the other clerk how to process certain transactions, but she had a great attitude and eased my anxiety at having to ask someone to re-process the whole transaction (but we saved quite a bit of money and it was worth it). Naturally they have tons of Halloween goodies at that time of year as well. Need little doodads but don't want to order from Oriental Trading Company? Check out PC's party favor aisle. Looking for a pinata? They've got 'em, along with all the treats you could hope to stuff inside. And there are other cool bits and pieces to be found, if you wade through a lot of assorted crap (for example, I found a mini Star Wars lunchbox for a present, $4). Service was friendly, which is more than I can say for the wretched location in Naperville on 59. So when it's time to party, now you know where to go. read more

Worst balloon delivery service EVER. I had ordered balloons (days before my event) to be delivered at 11am on the party day. Balloons had not arrived by 11:30 so I called the store. After getting the run-around from an employee and a manager, I was assured my balloons would be delivered "ASAP". The balloons were finally delivered at 1:15pm - after my party had already started!!! It was extremely aggravating to be setting up party decorations while running an event. The point of having them delivered early was to avoid this scenario. Never using Party City delivery service again. All Occasions does a much better job. Wish I had gone with them like I normally do. read more

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Before yesterday, I was going to write them a 5 star review. Today I'm fighting off the urge to write them a 2 star, name-calling one. I've called here many a times looking for different odds & ends party favors and such and I've always received exceptional service, due mostly in part to the young girl that works here whose name I should know, but don't. I can tell you that if there is a young, loud, long dark haired girl that a lot of times wears a baseball hat, you are in good hands... otherwise, fuggetaboutit. I called here a few days ago to reserve a helium tank for a party I was throwing for about 200 people. I was told a reservation wouldn't be needed, I can just come pick the tank up and return it within 3 days and they confirmed pricing for me. They left out the deposit charge out in their mention as well. It wasn't a huge deal bc I knew I'd be returning the tank within the allotted time, but the extra $120.99 added on to the $40 tank of gas might be an issue for some. Anyway, I show up on the day of my party and I grab a few items to go with my balloons like weights, table covers and balloon ties. I'm ignored for a some time before my presence is addressed at the balloon counter by employees who appeared to be actively ignoring me. Then, once I tell them what I need, I listen to the head balloon man get sassed by another balloon counter person about what color tank she should bring back for me, even though it's clear that she already knows what she needs to get. It appeared as though she just wanted to be difficult and get every.little.detailed word that would describe a medium helium tank out of her manager. Super annoying. So, after the balloon personnel scuffle, the guy directs me to go pay at the counter and says they'll bring my ish over. I pay and sign for the stupid tank and the guy brings this heavy tank over the register, drops it and walks away. As he's walking away I ask him how I use the damn thing, as it was my first time dabbling in helium tank rental. He says "turn it on and press down." Okay, d*ck- press down on what? Then he leaves and comes back with a nozzle. Glad I asked. Did he think that a helium tank nozzle is just something people have? So I repeat back to him what I'm supposed to do and he says "yea" as he walks away. He doesn't offer to show me, he doesn't offer to help me lift it into my car, just walks away talking on his stupid earpiece like the Sham-wow guy. So I bring the tank to my party and I'm setting up a million other things for several hours before my helpers arrive. I had planned on doing the balloons in the 2 hour time frame before the party so nothing got all deflate-y and sad looking. Bad idea. Bad idea, why? Because these f*ckers sold me a broke ass helium tank. A problem that could have been solved had they taken 8 f*cking seconds to answer my basic questions and try the thing out. But no. So now, I'm at my party and panicking because I NEED balloons to make literally EVERY other aspect of my deco work. I call and they tell me to bring it back and get a new one, but my party is now an hour and half away and this store is a half hour from my party location PLUS I have no make-up on and my hair looks like sh*t from running around and setting up all day. We ended up just buying a non-defunct helium tank from somewhere else and I returned the piece of sh*t one they rented me. I was kind of hoping the guy who couldn't be bothered to show me how to work their equipment would be there, but he wasn't and at that point I was still so exhausted from the day before that I don't know that I even had enough energy to cop an attitude start talking out my neck like I really wanted to. Also, there was no apology for my broken ass piece of sh*t tank debacle, though I did get a full refund. I will try to avoid this location as much as I can, unfortunately, it's the nearest PC to my house and I do really like the one enthusiastic girl who works there. Maybe I'll just have to creep around and find out her schedule so I don't have to come in when the grumpy grumps are there. read more

Cost is everything when planning Halloween or a birthday party since the decorations are usually ripped down before the first slice of cake is finished. Tonight we picked up the 6th costume for my son this month, a policeman - with all the trimmings, and 3 lollipops for a whopping $22.44, beats the $45 I spent at The Disney store on a Jack Skellington costume. The Halloween decorations were not scarey enough for my husband, plus I found them to be a bit steep for how cheaply made they were - I know I can get them cheaper online. Can I have your email? Yeah, sure...I will give you the random one I never check because Party City never gives me a freaking coupon anyway!!! I do love this store, I can kill some serious time in this place if I'm throwing a party or not...I buy all my Jimmy Buffett tailgating stuff here, random gifts, cute things like tutus when I have a charity 5k, just about anything! This IS my go-to party store, yet they keep asking for my email address, and I never get a damn coupon. And yes, I do peek in that email sometime... there is never anything I need from them. Today's experience was a little annoying at this location...their registers went down right before I was getting checked out. I bought some of those 15 for $1 candy, and 5 for $1... the cashier didn't count, she asked and I said, I bought three of the one kind, two of the other, she's like - so 45??? I don't know, you do the math...I gave you the breakdown because MAYBE there is a different sku for inventory purposes. Or... count them, I don't know. Huge, huge selection, be it for general party planning to specific holidays or even if you just need greeting cards. The Halloween section is a little overwhelming, going floor to ceiling - my main issue is that it's hard to get stuff down, even for people who work in the store, since items are so high up on the walls. The other issue I have with this location is that there never seems to be enough people working the register - most of the time, you'll wait to check out. I love any place that celebrates Halloween too hard and too early. In that way, Party City may be my spirit animal. I've been here countless times over the years for a whole litany of items, they're mostly convenient (down the street from my work), useful (there aren't tons of places to find stuff like theme decor and balloons), and not prohibitively expensive (though not exactly cheap, either). I'd never considered that I come here for their customer service, but the other day I had a fantastic experience with a super young cashier who appeared to be running the entire store as her mostly absent manager watched her struggle... ugh. Despite the scenario, she was polite, attentive, totally helpful, and managed the people at the counter, the people asking questions, and the person ordering balloons (me!). She quickly and easily got me in and out of the store with 10 obnoxious helium balloons, and for that I was grateful. read more

Usually party city has everything you need for a higher price than other stores. Its a perfect place to pick up all the supplies at one store. Butttt this morning third of the store was empty. I ended up getting couple of things and the rest I will order from Amazon. Customer service is sh*t here....actually there is no customer service. The best thing about this store is Annette who I have seen mainly in the balloon area. Great customer service even when it's super busy and she also helped me out when another employee messed up part of my order. As far as the rest of the store goes, yes their selection is pretty good depending on what you're looking for...probably can't beat it when it comes to kids stuff for parties. read more
