Fantasy costume Shop at 4065 N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago for all your costume needs. This is such an awesome store. They provide Ginormous selection of costumes & accessories for just about any occasion however they can't compete w/Heidi Klum Queen of Halloween. This store has a vast array of costume from little trinkets to very elaborate costumes. The choices are limitless and of course determined by your budget. I was in here recently for Neon Night Yelp Community Fund Raiser @ Bernie's Book Bank. The party theme was neon/80's so I came here looking for some trinkets to keep w/the theme of the party. I wish I had gone a little earlier so I could have had the chance to peruse the store in a more leisurely fashion but I had 2 people to pick up 1 in Wheeling & the other in Deerfield prior to heading up to Bernie's Book Bank in Lame Bluff. The staff inside the store were very helpful in finding the items I needed for my costume. Unlimited selection limited only by your imagination & budget. If you ever need anything for a costume or themed party this is the place to go. read more

The best place in Chicago for theatrical quality makeup and wigs. Hands down. I come here every year for all the fake blood, scar wax, bruise wheels, and latex you could need. They carry a great selection of fx designer brands (mehron, Ben Nye, etc.) as well as cheaper drug store brands so you have a wide variety depending on your needs. Great place! read more

Fantasy Costumes is a Fantastic place that I have been going to for all of my Halloween needs, party needs, and it is a one of a kind place !! I have been going here every year at Halloween, and again for all my special party needs, my good friend bought her wigs here , when she had a health scare, and they were so beautiful. I love this place, everyone there is so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, if you've never been there, you MUST go check this place out, it is a staple in the Portage Park neighborhood right on Milwaukee Ave for at least 45 years, that's how long I've been going there!! And now I live over an hour away, but it is worth taking the ride, there is No place as cool as this place is! Check it out for Halloween and for all your party needs! Fantasy Costumes is a Blast ! read more

I could not love this Northwest side gem more! A small business that knows their business, their merchandise and truly aims to leave you a happy customer - such a rarity these days. I've been shopping there for my kid's Halloween costumes for years and see the same employees there as I did 12 years ago. That's always a good sign. read more

I've been coming to Fantasy for nearly 20 years and everytime I go I find yet another surprise. I am a make up artsit (hence some of my photos) and I love the fact that if I need to have Latex masks or Latex to create my own, its all here. Its really nice to know that you can get it all in once stop, but NEVER think you will be in and out the month of Halloween, are you kidding me? The line during this time can stretch well over a block and you will just wait your turn or get turned away, that simple. The array of wigs and make up is beyind what most could comprehend, but the nice thing about Fantasy is that you can also rent outfits anytime of the year. In the mood to be Marie Antoinette? Come and get it, or maybe a priest, bring it. Its all here. Check them out, I am sure you will find exactly what you are looking for. read more

I have gone to Fantasy Costume many times over the years, but this particular time was by far the best experience. I agreed to dress as Elsa for a child's birthday party and the day of the party (hours before!) my dress went missing. I called Fantasy costume and they, of course, had a beautiful Elsa dress that I could rent for the party! I was so relieved, I don't know what I would have done if they weren't there! read more

Honestly, this place is overwhelmingly ready to serve clients looking to rent a great costume! They are well-known for being a Chicago legend in this regard. There is so much here that is available for purchase and for rent. Even if you're not in the market for a costume, it's a fun place to visit and get some ideas for the next costume event you attend! I was impressed that they had a few options for me in the way of a My Fair Lady dress. Way to go, Fantasy Costumes! read more

Very cool place. They have everything you could possibly need for a great party. Glad I found this place.

You can't miss Fantasy Costumes, as it takes up 1/2 a City Block in Portage Park, with it's gaily painted windows. This place has it all, it's just a chore to figure out where, and having some items behind counters, away from the perusal of shoppers, just makes it trying to build a costume. Two of my counter helpers were very helpful. The makeup counter girl was super nice and convinced this guy that a 7-step application process, isn't that bad! (We'll see about that). But did I really need someone to show me white gloves? Seriously, they aren't that expensive. All of their hats are also behind a counter, preventing a quick "try on". And who's going to walk out with a big hat under their jacket or on their head? Security guy: "Hey man, did you walk in with that fly Pimp Hat on? Okay, bro, it's cool." My third "helper" was anything but helpful. The girl behind the pre-packaged costume counter. She got a costume for one couple and then just watched them try it on, leaned against the glass counter, exclaiming "I hate this job..." while the rest of us waited for her to get over her ennui and help us out! Since she only let you peruse one item at a time...you can see how long this charade took for each customer! Right now the Red Eye paper has "20% off one item" coupons, so use it on your high ticket item. Yes, the store is crazy busy at peak evening hours. But they're open 24 Hours, so I recommend all you Night Creatures find some restaurant or bar in the beautiful up and coming neighborhood of Portage Park, tying one on, and going Costume shopping in the middle of the night! read more

"I wanna be a cowboy and you can be my cowgirl I wanna be a cowboy and you can be my cowgirl I wanna be a cowboy Looking like a hero, Six-gun at my side, Chewing my tobacco...." So you wanna be a cowboy, well then you've come to the right place. But what if you don't want to be a cowboy (chaps make your ass look fat) or your girl says ixnay on the owgirlcay, what do you do? Well partner, you saddle up and get over to Fantasy Costume and they can get you sorted out. I mean maybe you've always wanted to dress up as a gynecologist; erm weird, but no problem, they've got a costume for that - Dr. Ken U. Spreadhum to be exact. Or, for that person who doesn't JUST want to be Rick James, but a blonde Rick James - they've got it covered. Mascot-caliber costumes your thing? Well, they've got those too, including Elmo. I didn't even get to the props and accessories; lordy, lordy they've got them up the yin! Whether you need a Princess Leia, Raggedy Andy, mullet or afro wig they've got it covered. Just don't try one on without a wig cap, unless verbal bitchslaps are your thing. They've also got animal noses, fishnets, prop chainsaws, ears, clown shoes, and much, much more. We stumbled in here toward the end of our Portage Park neighborhood tour. We didn't have a mission, we were just there to browse, goof off and get some costume ideas. Maybe that's why we seemed to rub bouffant lady wrong way; when she wasn't asking if she could help us, she was reciting store rules. Bottom line: 3.5 stars; points off for service, let's just say it could be warmer. I haven't been to many Halloween stores, but this one is pretty top notch, selection-wise. Seriously, if you can't find what you need here, it's quite possible that it doesn't exist. TIP: If you want a cheap giggle check out the packaged wigs. They have funny names and pictures to avoid copyright infringement like: soccer wife wig (Victoria Beckham), 60's mod wig (Austin Powers), and promoter wig (Don King). TIP: The week before Halloween they're open 24 hours. read more
