They provide Ginormous selection of costumes & accessories for just about any occasion however they can't compete w/Heidi Klum Queen of Halloween. This store has a vast array of costume from little trinkets to very elaborate costumes. The choices are limitless and of course determined by your budget. I was in here recently for Neon Night Yelp Community Fund Raiser @ Bernie's Book Bank. The party theme was neon/80's so I came here looking for some trinkets to keep w/the theme of the party. I wish I had gone a little earlier so I could have had the chance to peruse the store in a more leisurely fashion but I had 2 people to pick up 1 in Wheeling & the other in Deerfield prior to heading up to Bernie's Book Bank in Lame Bluff. I am a make up artsit (hence some of my photos) and I love the fact that if I need to have Latex masks or Latex to create my own, its all here. Its really nice to know that you can get it all in once stop, but NEVER think you will be in and out the month of Halloween, are you kidding me? The line during this time can stretch well over a block and you will just wait your turn or get turned away, that simple. They have a great huge selection and very good customer service they walk me through and explain to me what came with what outfit and what would be the best thing to do if I wanted to change up a little bit they are very helpful and very knowledgeable about what they have. I'd recommend everybody to stop in and take a look at what selections they do have for their Halloween experiences even birthday parties things like that any celebration that a costume is needed. You can't miss Fantasy Costumes, as it takes up 1/2 a City Block in Portage Park, with it's gaily painted windows. This place has it all, it's just a chore to figure out where, and having some items behind counters, away from the perusal of shoppers, just makes it trying to build a costume. Two of my counter helpers were very helpful. The makeup counter girl was super nice and convinced this guy that a 7-step application process, isn't that bad! (We'll see about that). But did I really need someone to show me white gloves? Seriously, they aren't that expensive. All of their hats are also behind a counter, preventing a quick "try on". And who's going to walk out with a big hat under their jacket or on their head? Security guy: "Hey man, did you walk in with that fly Pimp Hat on? Okay, bro, it's cool." My third "helper" was anything but helpful. The girl behind the pre-packaged costume counter. She got a costume for one couple and then just watched them try it on, leaned against the glass counter, exclaiming "I hate this job..." while the rest of us waited for her to get over her ennui and help us out! Since she only let you peruse one item at a time...you can see how long this charade took for each customer! Right now the Red Eye paper has "20% off one item" coupons, so use it on your high ticket item. Yes, the store is crazy busy at peak evening hours. But they're open 24 Hours, so I recommend all you Night Creatures find some restaurant or bar in the beautiful up and coming neighborhood of Portage Park, tying one on, and going Costume shopping in the middle of the night! read more
