Don, the owner, was very friendly and very good with all his wigs. He looked at my hair and helped me find the exact color of my hair, which is a little bit challenging because I have a lot of highlights he gave lots of tips on washing and detangling. They do not have human hair, but honestly, this looks just like human hair to me. Dan really knows his stuff he's been doing it a long time. They are mid-priced, but seem to be in good shape, spanning all the lengths and colors of the rainbow. Marge Simpson blue curlet wig stacked high and spry? Got it. Cotton candy pink poof? Indeed. Regular boring browns, blacks, blondes and reds? Yep. Jeri curl extensions? Well, only the best. They've got a lot of everything. Think $25-$50. Definitely not the "wig-in-a-bag" from Party City, but you also won't appear to have a dead animal lying atop your head for the duration of the holiday. No reviews yet?! Hm, odd. I called around 7:45 pm to find out how late they were open, they told me only for 15 more minutes. I was then asked how long it would take me to get there, which I said I was unsure of. Finally, he asks for my name and says they'll stay open for an extra half hour for me. Mind you, I was in no rush and prepared to just come in the next day during normal hours, but he insisted that they would stay open. Sure enough, we get there and they were open. The staff was also very friendly, though I'm sure they wanted to get out of there. My friend and I were there for the crazy colored wigs (ok, ok you got me...we were shopping for the Gay Pride Parade at the end of this month), and sure enough we each walked out with an incredible new (but fake) 'do and spent less than $40. I'm sure I could have found the same thing for less, but I bet the people would not have been as friendly and definitely wouldn't have INSISTED on staying open for us! Most of your incogneeds can be met here, but as the sign suggests their moneymaker is the fake hair. They do have tons of options for many occasions and the prices aren't too steep so by wig shop standards I'd say that makes em' definitely above average. read more

Wigs & Plus is my favorite hooker store. (as in, the clientele is probably mostly hookers and drag queens except for during Halloween season.) They have been my, no-fail go-to costume-accessory store since I moved to Chicago in 2008. They have an excellent array of wigs, fake eye lashes, frilly panties, fishnet stockings, corsets, costume jewelery, fake mustaches, beards and goatees. The extra special bonus is the people who work here are also *always* supremely helpful. Usually when I visit Wigs Plus it's pretty dead, except for right aroun halloween. I was there two weeks before the holiday and was accompanied by about 7 other patrons all needing assistance. Despite the 'rush' of customers the service was supremely attentively as I tried on wigs, picked out eye-lashes and deliberated over which style of long satin gloves to purchase. Not happy with this place. I happened to take a peek inside and committed the cardinal sin of taking a picture and someone yelled at me from across the store. Seriously? Couldn't they just have come up to me and politely explained their "no picture" policy? What is this TMZ and suddenly I'm the paparazzi? I think it was a little unnecessary and just didn't seem like professional customer service. Go to Heads and Threads instead. So many wig selections. Its a good place to go if you're short on time and need a wig asap. They have costume wigs as well as very nice lace-fronts. They aren't crazy and they don't follow you around the store all day. The owner and staff was very friendly to me on my visit. I would definitely get another wig from there. Why was I here? Because I like glitter in, on, and dripping off plastic. I go here for my headbands, hair pins and a self esteem boost. The all knowledgeable man behind the counter suggestive sells you everything from hair to shampoo. Their hair products are of low quality--typical brands loaded with cheap oils and parbens. Their headbands fall apart and are cheaper at kmart. But if you want a wig, weave, or a dull itch you can't satisfy come on down. read more

I needed a costume wig. I found hundreds at Wigs & Plus. The staff was helpful and helped my find the wig with the longest possible hair for less than $50. Now I look ridiculous! Lice. A lot of it. My sisters and I came here over the weekend and thought it would be fun to try on some wigs. My oldest sister was looking for a platinum blonde wig so we all bought wig caps for a dollar and looked around and tried some stuff on while she tried out some blonde wigs. Two days later and I have a total infestation of lice. Nits, lice, everything. Whole shabang. It was mild when I caught it but I texted my sisters to let them know. All three of us have it. I practically skipped into this store, dragging a dude along behind me, after seeing all of the pretty wigs on display in the window. Every color and texture you could want when it comes to costume wigs, plus an equally sizeable offering from name-brand, well-known "real" wigmakers. They offer something for everyone. Well, almost everyone - if you want a natural wig or hairpiece and don't have black or dark brown hair, you are out of luck. They'll order it for you, but you won't be able to walk out of the store with it that day. That was disappointing. But hey, if you are a blondie or a redhead and you want to switch it up, they have plenty of dark selections for you. That said, I was only able to find one item that I could purchase that day. So, I totally bought fake bangs. NAY, I bought real bangs - they are made from real hair, after all. They match my slightly darker blond winter hair color perfectly. I was amused to see they had near-exact matches of previous hair colors and styles of mine from long ago and was very tempted to try them on - dark pixie cuts, a pink-streaked bob, etc. Honestly, if I weren't such a chicken, I probably would have gotten one of those just for fun. In addition to wigs and extensions, they really do have just about everything here: padded undies, jewelry, food(?!). They also honestly have the single largest selection of cholesterol and gel I've seen in probably any beauty supply anywhere...I didn't even know that many varieties were made. read more

When I saw it for the first time, I laughed. Large selection of wigs, and other random products you might find at a dollar store. I bought some incense, and a cheap pair of flats. Originally went in to look at extensions, but was disappointed that they didn't have much of a selection of non-yaki weaves, and nothing longer than 12". Will go down the street to one of the other two wig stores when I need to buy "muh weave". read more

SO many wigs! they must have 2000 models, plus various colors of each model. they're all on mannequin heads so you can see what they look like instead of having to just go by a picture on a bag. staff was very friendly and helped me find just the right wig to match a picture I brought in. most wigs are under $30 - This will definitely be my first stop for costumes in halloweens to come. read more

me & my grandmother went in this store to get a pink or purple wig. they would not allow us to use the restroom. then, a worker at the store followed us around while we were shopping, trying to see if we were stealing anything. first they don't let us use the restroom, then they watch us like Hawks. we refused to do business with them and walked out. read more

This place is not and has never been open on Sundays. Thanks, Yelp! Good thing there are two more supply stores down the block or this would've been such a wasted trip.The store itself is pretty nice when it comes to the plethora of items they sell here. The man who works at the front is extremely knowledgeable about brands and knows about every product. So why only 3 stars? First off, their prices are a bit more expensive compared to Beauty House on Wilson and I always have to settle to find something different because they never have the specific brands that I initially come in for. Also, I get that this store is on the smedium side and they have merchandise everywhere; however, the whole undercover security women following you around the store is quite ridiculous and extremely obvious when you're the only one in the store and she keeps ending up right beside you, at every turn. I purchased some fusion extensions from this store a couple weeks ago, the Asian man behind the counter assured me that the "elegance" fusion hair was the absolute best quality they have and noone has ever had a problem with them blah blah.. So I spent 325$ on buying that brand of hair that day. After paying someone $500 to put them in for me(she and I are both certified in fusion extensions) by the next day some strands were already falling out. After a couple more days a few more fell out, so i went back and bought another $80 worth of hair, i intended to have them in for at least 4 months. I ensure you they were put in properly, by 2 weeks I had lost over 30 strands. By 3 weeks with only washing it 3 times in the past 3 weeks, I was losing at least 10 strands a day. My last fusions I had lasted me 6 months and only lost 3 strands in that time period(the only reason I had to take them out was bcuz they were so grown out). I went out to dinner with a guy friend and ran my hands through my hair and a strand came out, embarrassing. So at this point after Saving for months and investing $1000 on hair that should have lasted 6 months vs 3 weeks I was pretty upset! They clearly are saying they are selling "keratin" fusion extensions, but in fact it was just good quality hair with shitty glue instead of keratin bonds. So I had to take them out bcuz it was getting embarrassing with hair falling out everywhere I go. I went to take them out and literally was able to grab 10 or more strands at a time and just pull them out. Proper keratin bonds takes at least 5 minutes each bond to get out with soaked in a solution and using the pliers. Mind was blown ! Pissed! Before I took them all out I went back into the store and told the Man that sold me them the situation , as I started pullin a handful out of a time to show him like wtf? And he would not do anything about it, I spent $1000 on this and he can't give me a dollar of my money back?! Great costumer service ! DON'T BUY FUSION EXTENSIONS HERE!!! read more
