My phone call today with Lee could have been much more professional. I called to gain clarity about two orders, both about missing items from a previous order and also to make sure that my other order was ready to be picked up and didn't accidentally get shipped. Lee's responses were sarcastic and unhelpful, causing me to not only be confused but frustrated. Before I drive an hour to pick up my orders, I wanted absolute certainty that they were available to be picked up being that this was not true last Friday. These are comments that Lee made: "didn't you receive an email?, Doesn't it say that the order is ready?, why wouldn't you have received your order?, are you sure you even placed your order?" The answers to these questions are not as black-and-white as Lee may think. And the most helpful and easy thing to do is to simply look up the orders and verify rather than make sarcastic comments to me. It should be obvious that I need help and that things are not clear for me, which is the reason why I called. After I was forwarded to Tony, who was able to clarify everything, I received another phone call from Lee following up with me to make sure I was fully helped. I did appreciate that. I'm well aware that we all have our off days, or are not on our A-game for every call.

The reactions from everyone was similar--"Wow this place is AMAZING!" "Where did you find this place?!" "It was soooo worth the trip! We will have to do this next year." "Good job, mom!" I could go on... My daughter chose Elena of Avalor as her princess. Elena was phenomenal!!!! She was so engaging. She could sing and dance beautifully. She knew ALLLLLLL the Disney songs the girls requested. She had so much patience and was kind and took photos with everyone that wanted one. Also, the cake was beautiful and delicious!!!! The "balloon twisting" was not what we expected. The performer brought balloons and inflated one, but there was essentially no balloon twisting or balloon artistry. We actually had to ask that each child be given a balloon. Considering this was an additional expense, I do not feel that the service provided justified the cost, and unfortunately, the children did not seem to enjoy or engage with it. The face-painting service also did not meet our expectations. The performer only brought sticker tattoos and stated that she had not been informed that face painting had also been requested. However, I showed her our booking confirmation, which clearly indicated that both face painting and balloon twisting were included in the booking. Unfortunately, the children did not receive the face-painting service that we had requested and paid for. We were also expecting the Miss Rachel portion to involve an actual performance or at least a more structured and interactive program. This was not what we anticipated, even with the understanding that the performer was a Miss Rachel copycat. We had to suggest that she incorporate Miss Rachel songs into the performance. Another concern was the sound setup. The performer only brought a cellphone to use as a speaker, which was not sufficient for the children to hear the music. We ultimately had to encourage her to connect her phone to our own speaker so that the children could actually hear the music. Overall, unfortunately, a significant portion of the scheduled entertainment felt unstructured and had very little activity happening. There were several periods of downtime, and the children did not appear particularly engaged. Given the additional cost for these entertainment services, we expected a more organized, interactive, and age-appropriate experience, as well as for the services specifically listed in our booking to be provided. I understand that miscommunication can sometimes happen, but in this case, the booking clearly reflected the services we requested. I wanted to provide honest feedback because we were disappointed with the overall quality, execution, and value of the entertainment we received.

"Clare" to my opinion was not only rude to me but also treated me arrogantly! When we agreed by phone on our talent choices, the deposit went from $50 to $100. She sent me a message via yelp that the deposit is only $50 but it changed after speaking to her on the phone to $100. Will the talent fee go up as well after the talents perform? "Clare" as you call yourself... I don't know about you but I keep my word! When you say an amount, you should stick to your quote. Your message via yelp and our phone conversation was not the same quote. I asked for a draft agreement before making a deposit to your company and you madly refused unless I pay a deposit first. That to me is a sign of WARNING!!!! That is a fact to me! Maybe if I had done business with your company before, I don't mind putting a deposit first without reading the initial agreement. But we haven't! Be mindful and don't ask me for MONEY first! Either you we're having a bad day today and you acted rude to me or that's just really your daily attitude towards your prospective customers. Reality check for you....you're not the only company in the area! Great Customer service in my opinion is very important! It would have been nice hearing that from your company which I felt you lacked today. I wonder if maybe Magic of the Nightingale can book more appointments if better customer service was acted upon on the phone while taking these appointments? What's included for her performance is the "hat sorting ceremony", face painting and balloon animals. I'm sorry, but the face painting and balloon animals were a joke! The painting was either of a heart, star, rainbow or witches hat - on the cheek. They were barely legible. Probably because of the disgusting old sponges she was using to apply them - yuk! Then the balloon animals I paid for were only a sword or dog... THAT IS IT. Besides that, The outfit she arrived in was laughable. Maybe a witches costume from Walmart. She was wearing tattered gym shoes and was really just sloppy. Again I'm sorry, but for the money I paid ($200 for 1.5 hrs), I really expected more. I purchased scarfs (per the houses for the kids to get once sorted) Clare, for whatever reason, felt she was entitled to one and put it on to wear before the kids even arrived. Thankfully I had a couple no shows so she didn't have to remove it to hand it to someone. I hadn't even noticed until she tried to leave with it. And I only realized how long she had it on when looking back at pictures. Now, I would give anyone the clothes off my back but please ask! At the end of the party we were cleaning up and she told me she was having a slice of cake - which through me off a bit but ok - then proceeded to tell me she was taking the rest home. Keep in mind, I DID NOT OFFER. Now, I wasn't planning on keeping the rest but again, I am your customer! Bottom line, I absolutely do NOT recommend this company or these people for any party. I used a girl for my sons 1st bday and my daughters 5th - she was $75/hour, did balloons and face painting and was incredible!!! It's through him that I heard of the Central Street Busker Festival that took place the next day and his line was loooong! Most recently, we went to his show last week that the Mt. Prospect Public Library held for spring break. That was very very well attended, with a long line of folks waiting to get in (and that's with all of us registered to attend!), but the show was a lot of fun. He did a little magic, a little comedy, and some fun balloon tricks. This guy has been doing this all his adult life--unless that's also a joke and part of his act--but regardless, he's great at his job. I'm looking forward to seeing him again and my little one having the chance to pick her balloon creation on her own.
