I really love going to vintage shops. It's so interesting to look at items from many decades ago…read more When I heard about Tova's Vintage Shop, I had to go check it out. The store it's self is adorable. If you're looking for a formal dress for prom or a dance, or a themed event, this is the place to go for sure. There are so many beautiful formal dresses here, black tie dresses, big skirt dresses, and even casual cotton dresses. There are dresses for infants and little girls. Everything is in pristine shape and looking beautiful. The prices range, of course depending on if it's designer or not. There's a whole selection of sparkly accessories, most of these items are oversized for my preference. There are lots of home items, I saw ice skates from the 1920s, lots of cool dishes with the Kennedys on them. This store is basically a museum where you can touch everything and purchase what you like for a very decent cost. I don't have a purpose for most of these items, so I didn't get anything. If you like vintage items, you'll love browsing through Tova's. I encourage you to stop by.

Clean, organized, and expertly curated shop…read more Most of the vintage here is very chic and wearable with a good selection of sizes. Vintage rompers, cotton dresses and great bags are the highlights here. I found a 1940s corset piece and wore it to my wedding (this isn't a wedding dress spot) but I'd encourage brides to stop in and add a glittery brooch.

I was actually dreading stopping in since I was shopping for a non-Halloween related event and expected it to be mobbed but I didn't have time to order off ol' faithful Amazon prime for my supplies. All of the Party City locations closer to me have closed (RIP West Hartford) so I was glad to have Manchester's store within a 20 minute drive since I desperately needed some platters, pop up disposable garbage bins, and other event essentials. The store wasn't too crowded, given it was a weekday morning, but there were still plenty of last minute Halloween shoppers trying on costumes. The staff member I dealt with was the only annoying part of the experience - she took forever to ring up my merchandise and kept forgetting what she actually rung up. I was in a rush and upon getting home realized that a couple items were on my receipt that she never put in the bag. Come on, you had one job. Luckily they were like a dollar each (plastic tongs) but I needed them and it didn't make sense for me to drive 20 min back to the store. Just a friendly reminder to check your merch and check your receipt - otherwise things get real annoying real fast!

    Halloween Dungeon

Halloween Dungeon is a year-round Halloween shop that opened in Seymour, Connecticut in September…read more2024. It was founded by local couple Amanda "Ravange" Tuttle and Alex Tuttle. The longtime collaborators turned life partners have loved all things Halloween for as long as they both can remember. Amanda has been working for a number of various haunted house attractions since 2008 (both as an actor and set designer), while Alex has designed and built a number of Halloween sets over the years. The two eventually founded their own production company called Doom Haus Creative Studios. Originally planning to open an escape room in Shelton, their plans were squashed when the 2020 pandemic shut down their progress. When a spot that was formerly home to the Greenwich Workshop art gallery became available in downtown Seymour, the couple decided to open their own shop. Every item on the shelves is either handmade by Amanda and Alex, handmade by one of their small business Halloween friends from around the country, or hand-curated by the couple. Halloween Dungeon is more than a Halloween shop: it's an immersive shopping experience. I recently stopped by Halloween Dungeon when I happened to be in downtown Seymour. I had a ticket to see a double feature at the Strand Theater (sponsored by Connecticut Cult Classics). As I was walking to the theater, my eye caught the exterior of Halloween Dungeon. I have loved all Halloween-related things for as long as I can remember, so it was a natural reflex for me to step inside the shop. The interior is almost like the set of a horror film. It's dimly lit with sound effects and you can smell the aroma of what I can only describe as "Halloween in smell form", courtesy of the shop's curated selection of scented candles. There were so many cool masks, costumes, books, and various props and accessories. I was especially impressed by the shop's selection of custom tombstones. I spoke for a few minutes with Alex and Amanda and they informed me that they host various events with costumed characters. They also have different themes in the store throughout the year, such as "Christmas with Krampus" or "Valloween". I didn't purchase anything on this visit, but I know that I'll be back. Whether your're looking for props for your haunted house attraction or items to make a terrifying costume, Halloween Dungeon is the place to be!

I was recently in downtown Seymour, and happened to stumble upon this amazing Halloween store!…read moreFirst I have to start off by saying that Halloween Dungeon is no Spirit Halloween or Party City... No, this is a LEGIT Halloween store with many items that are handmade. Here's the scoop on this spooktacularly cool spot! The store is located right on Main St. in Seymour, just two buildings down from the Strand Theater. You'll know you're in the right spot because you'll see the Frankenstein and other creepy figure in the front windows. Once inside, there's a cemetery complete with headstones, turf grass, and a picket fence. There's a large chalkboard sign listing the number of days until Halloween. The two owners (either husband and wife or boyfriend/girlfriend) are very friendly and will greet you upon entering. The store goes decently far back with tons of spooky items for sale, like high-quality clown masks, straight jackets, fake heads and brains, "severe trauma kits," custom headstones, skulls, skeletons, halloween handbags, books of spells, "Zombie Parking Only" signs, and so so much more! All of the items are high-quality, and many are even hand-crafted. They even have events and characters come in every so often. For example, the owners told me about how the had Van Helsing come in to take photos with customers several times. And around the holidays, they had Krampus come in for a meet-and-greet with customers. It's obvious that the owners are very passionate about Halloween and their store and I would definitely recommend paying them a visit! They'll be sure to wish you a "Happy Halloween!" when you leave.

First time was early/mid October to get some costume ideas and to check on the inventory. It was packed with lots of costumes for adults and children plus props, decor, makeup, hats etc. My second visit was on 10/30 and the inventory was greatly reduced. I asked about the return policy and learned that store credit was the only refund and since this is a pop up, they would be gone right after Halloween. Place has a Nice set up with automated decoration. A subway car with monsters and flashing lights. Cool stuff and well organized. Not much in the way of staff but the cashiers were really fast. I found some makeup and my costume for the costume party I was planning to attend. Everything was under $100 for what I needed.

I experienced the new Spirit Madison Scare Park. The Scare Park was basically a bunch of horror animatronics characters displayed. You put your foot on a pad & bam the animatronics come to life. Zombie clowns,Art the Clown, possessed bats,& a whole lineup of nightmares that come true.It was super fun if you're into spooky stuff. Inside had a huge amount of Halloween/horror/spooky product selections anything from socks to mugs to costumes, etc. I felt like i was in a candy store. I wanted to buy it all but i controlled myself & wallet. Now fair warning Spirit is not cheap. It is pretty pricey & Spirit Halloween took off their 20% off 1 item that was always available. I guess b/c they're a trend now & also I get it licensed products are costly. However, you can catch coupons on their website & not sell your soul for an animatronic.
