Both stores were kind of crowded but checkout was quick. Lots of costumes and masks. Hippie section could be better.

I was surprised how clean and well stocked/organized the store was, considering I visited the day…read morebefore Halloween. I was actually dreading stopping in since I was shopping for a non-Halloween related event and expected it to be mobbed but I didn't have time to order off ol' faithful Amazon prime for my supplies. All of the Party City locations closer to me have closed (RIP West Hartford) so I was glad to have Manchester's store within a 20 minute drive since I desperately needed some platters, pop up disposable garbage bins, and other event essentials. The store wasn't too crowded, given it was a weekday morning, but there were still plenty of last minute Halloween shoppers trying on costumes. The staff member I dealt with was the only annoying part of the experience - she took forever to ring up my merchandise and kept forgetting what she actually rung up. I was in a rush and upon getting home realized that a couple items were on my receipt that she never put in the bag. Come on, you had one job. Luckily they were like a dollar each (plastic tongs) but I needed them and it didn't make sense for me to drive 20 min back to the store. Just a friendly reminder to check your merch and check your receipt - otherwise things get real annoying real fast!

East Hartford

"Turn out the lights, the party's over They say that all…read moregood things must end Call it a night, the party's over" (Willie Nelson) Its becoming more and more difficult for the real deal brick and mortar retail world to compete with Amazon, eBay or a dozen other internet vendors. Maybe shopping from the convenience of your home hasn't completely won the battle, but it sure has its predecessors on the run. The latest example of this trend will be on display on February 28 when the chain that has sold balloons, Halloween costumes, candy, party goods, and housewares for 40 years is closing all of its stores. Discounting the remaining stock has begun, and we noticed something curious about their pricing - it seems to vary from store to store for the same item. We've been chasing some themed bags of candy for a convention and saw lower prices in Simsbury and Manchester than we did in East Hartford. We brought in paperwork from our Manchester purchase and asked if East Hartford would match a price from a store within their own chain. It was quite disappointing that they wouldn't. Oh well, I guess the party really is over.

I went to this Party City store to look for some decorations for a little kid's birthday party…read more They have everything here, the amount of balloons is insane. Sadly everything in this store is disposable. From paper cups, to paper decorations, to balloons, everything is designed to be a one time use item. They have everything, but most of the items can also be found at discount stores for much less. I can only imagine how overpriced (and junky) everything is during Halloween season. I just don't feel right about spending $8.00 on a "disposable trash can". Most of us already have trash cans at home. Please shop smart, and skip the nonsense at this store.

Wonderful experience, was looking for dance kneepads, and they had them. Was tempted to purchase…read moresome point shoes. Next time. :)

Extremely disappointing experience…read more I visited your store yesterday, 9/14/26, around 5:30 PM with my three children to purchase dance gear for my 8-year-old daughter, who is starting dance for the first time. I drove over an hour because someone from her dance studio recommended your store for sizing her shoes and leotard so I could complete the studio's order form. I was under the impression the studio placed its bulk order through your store and had no idea they actually ordered through another store. When I explained this to an employee, she immediately told me there was a $15 shoe-fitting fee if I wasn't purchasing shoes that day. I had no issue with the fee and immediately agreed to pay it. Unfortunately, instead of simply explaining the policy, she was extremely dismissive, rolled her eyes, ignored me, and made me feel like a nuisance. I was also there intending to purchase several items, and I ultimately purchased my daughter's first leotard. Thankfully, another employee eventually helped us and was incredibly kind and professional. She helped us determine approximate shoe sizes so I could complete the studio's form. When we went to check out, the same employee who had been rude to me rolled her eyes again when I explained we weren't purchasing the shoes and handed them to another employee, who said, "Ugh, these aren't even the right shoes she needs anyway," while also rolling her eyes. I already knew they weren't the exact shoes she needed--I was simply trying to determine her approximate size as a first-time dance mom. At that point, I felt I was being unfairly blamed for something that had nothing to do with me. If the store has an issue with the dance studio placing its bulk order elsewhere, that is an issue between the business and the studio. I had no involvement in that decision and wasn't even aware of it. I was simply following the instructions I was given. I believe the employee who treated me this way may have been the owner, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I later called because I thought I had left the leotard there. I ultimately found it and called back to apologize, but I also explained how unhappy I was with the way I had been treated and asked that the owner be made aware. Instead of acknowledging my concerns or apologizing, she simply said, "Okay," and hung up. I completely understand store policies and fees. What I do not understand is treating a customer disrespectfully over a situation they had absolutely no part in. What should have been an exciting experience shopping for my daughter's first dance gear was incredibly disappointing. I appreciate the employee who eventually helped us, but unfortunately, I will not be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere.
