Customer service is the worst. I was there to order a bouquet of balloons. The girl behind the counter ignored us for about 10 min. She then helped someone else didn't even acknowledged us standing there for 10 min. She finally came to us and said" what you want?? I was like ok. I then asked her what would be better if I go with option 1 or 2. She said lady I don't know. I told her thank but no thanks I'll take my business somewhere else. And I did to dollars tree next door. Where the staff there help me and I ended up paying less and even gave them a tip which dollar tree employee didn't want to take. My daughter went to return something brand new in proper packaging receipt bag everything. She paid with Apple Pay and spoke to Jessica and she was very rude and told her she was not going to do her refund on her card. She stated she was giving her store credit. Apparently for her being the manager she's incompetent and has no customer service at all, for being in retail and being a store manager....!!!! Even the customer behind my daughter stated is she Serious, referring to Jessica. She went back and forth with my daughter for about 10 minutes. We will not be back for rude service. All but one employee is rude to me when i come in, and I'm here a few times a month. I try to be kind to them and chat, but they always seem upset or burnt out on the job, even during the week. Also on weekends the lines seem to take forever. I had better service at the Turlock location. I come here because i live closer to this location. Balloon selection is good, however. This is the last time I'll ever come to this location for anything! There's never more than one person at the cash registers leaving a long ass line for the one person working there to deal with making the wait time forever! I came in yesterday for number balloons & had it filled with helium & like always, there was only one person working the front and a long ass line of people. By the time I was helped I was rushing to get home that I didn't even notice my balloons were already deflating!! When I woke up the next morning one of the balloons was almost completely deflated! I brought the balloons back & again only one person working the cash registers & another long ass line go wait in. When it was my turn the employee kindly told me that the person who filled my balloons didn't tie the string on the right spot causing my balloons to deflate. He told me he'd fix it but asked me if he could finish up the line first, I told him he could and I don't mind waiting for too long. But the line continued to grow & the person he was checking out after me was taking forever with him. Why does the location constantly choose to always have just one employee at the front helping customers??? This is probably why I'm reading about the bad customer service, the little employees that you have available to help with that are possibly all burnt out from being the only ones there all day. It's the weirdest thing ever. Is it just a coincidence that every time myself or someone I know comes in here it's always the same situation?? I mean come on.. My cutie pie nephew is turning the big two years old this Sunday! We are having a birthday party for him on Sunday and I volunteered to bring the cake and plates. I went to another party store in Modesto, which I like better because it is 1. closer to my home and 2. it is cleaner. Unfortunately they didn't have a very cute selection of Elmo party goods. So I made the trip down McHenry to Party City. I was a little scared to leave my car unattended in the parking lot. It was kind of scary...yikes! I put on my big girl pants and headed into the store. The store was much cleaner inside than the last time I was there about a year ago. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They had a nice selection of Elmo party plates for your next happening toddler extravaganza. They did have other themes besides Elmo, but I was on a mission and didn't pay too much attention to the other themes. I did see a Finding Nemo that looked pretty cute! Five stars for cleanliness, friendliness and selection. Minus two stars for the questionable surroundings. read more

Horrible customer service at Modesto Party City. I try to shop local when I can.....like today, I was trying to purchase pink candy for a breast cancer awareness event at work and I asked if I could get the on-line price. Clerk asked manager who said yes, told clerk she should be able to ring up otherwise manager would override. I said, "ok, thank you so much", and headed to go get two more bags. Manager walks past me and tells clerk, "I'm going on my 10". Now I'm back at the register and the "new" clerk cannot ring up because she needs the manager's approval. Clerk tells me I'll have to wait until after manager returns from break. I said, "really". I waited 10 minutes and started calling other retailers trying to locate the pink candy. I also asked the clerk if she could phone the manager, she said she didn't have her number. Clerk asked another clerk to help but she wasn't a manager and also didn't know the manager's phone number. Good thing there wasn't an emergency! The clerk went outside looking for the manager but couldn't find her. Finally after about 22 minutes the manager comes in and assists the clerk and turns and walks away. Clerk hands me my bag with no thank you. I took the bag and then stopped and looked at the clerk and said, "you should have said thank you, I'm the customer", I then looked at the manager and said, "you should have said sorry for making me wait". Manager says, "I didn't know you were waiting". So even after she did know I guess I still didn't deserve an apology. I then said, "It doesn't matter, you knew the clerk needed your approval". Manager said, "I didn't know she'd need an approval". I said, "you should have checked". Still no thank you and no apology from Tracy the manager or the new clerk. I let them know I would never be back. I sure hope they use this review as an opportunity to correct this bad behavior. I wish I didn't need the candy so bad. read more

Uselesss staff, poor customer service. Today my son and I stopped here for party supplies. I noticed employees getting rude with customers, first of all. Whatever, my purchase was simple, so I stood in line and got through the process. I noticed as I was walking out the door that my bag felt light. The person who checked me out forgot to put a bag of candy in my bag (she did charge me for it though). One of the employees saw me rifling through my bag and told me I could just go grab a new bag of candy in the store. So I did, and I left. That was annoying but it was made right, so I'm not really mad about that. What I am mad about is, once I got home (30 miles away), I noticed she also forgot to put a Father's Day card I purchased in the bag that my son picked out for his Dad. I only spent $35, but at this point, this employee failed to put $5 worth of merchandise from my small transaction in my bag! She wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, she was rude and curt. I called them and asked them if my stuff I purchased was still there and after looking around a few minutes, they did find it. No way to refund me over the phone, they expect me to drive ALL THE WAY BACK if I want the items I PAID for. I know it's only $5 but I am fuming. This store is extremely messy and unorganized. It's not stocked like other Party City stores I have been too. It's depressing just walking into it. There only ever appears to be one person working the whole store. Honestly if there is more than 2 people in line I either know I'm going to be in line for 20 mins or I just leave. And if there are people in line and you want balloons... Forget it. The one person working (doesn't matter which clerk I see) looks like they would rather be anywhere else in the world then there at that store. How can a party store be the most depressing place ever? Party City is my number one choice of store when it comes to throwing birthday parties for my girls. They have a huge variety of themes to choose from, I mean they even have Justin Bieber! Lol. Anyways, they have anything you can think of, decorations to tableware to the festive pinatas that you get to fill with goodies. As for me, I always check out what I want on their website before I go to the store. My last visit was a win and lose situation. I was able to get most things I wanted but on their website they had a few items that they didn't sell at the store but they had something at the store where they didn't sell on the site. Got some Rapunzel birthday stuff for my Daughter's birthday. It was on clearance and such a great deal. Her birthday came and we only needed to use some of the stuff. Today I took back the stuff we didn't use and since it was over 30 days it would be in store credit and usually they don't take back clearance but the manager okayed it. YAY! So I was able to get some thank you notes for my baby shower this weekend and also a cute bead necklace that says Mom to be. Now my daughter wants one that says big sister. LOL read more

This store used to be a train wreck. The aisles always had a post-tornado, looted, look to them. I am delighted to report that the last time I was in the store there was dramatic improvement. Selection isn't amazing, but if you're looking for general party gear, it's pretty inexpensive, and it gets the job done. I usually go for balloons and ribbon. Candy is overpriced, imo. First the cashier told me 'no', then another said, 'Oh there are cellophane bags on the back of aisle eight' She didn't offer to help me find them. This store is a basic party supplier. Maybe because it's the Central valley, there's a better selection of cowboy hats and charms and decorations. I appreciated that. Question and concern- Why do you not offer shopping carts to your paying customers? I walked in on Friday morning, with an infant baby and toddler, wanting to spend lots of $ on party supplies. To my surprise, there were zero carts around the Front doors. I kindly asked the cashier if they had any shopping carts, and she looked around and said no, they are being used. I took it maybe tons of customers are using them- NOPE- staff was using 2 full of stock probably to go out back on shelves. This is not ok- I grabbed my little basket and filled it with as much as I could carry along with carrying my baby and holding onto my toddlers hand. First of all- that employee should have Been trained to empty carts into baskets or floor or shelf... to offer a cart to a paying customer- whether i was alone or with 2 babies- but the nerve to not even offer to a Mom is sad. And why are there no carts for shoppers? I was there for like 20 min and saw no customers with carts. Amazon and online is much better. read more

This was the closest location to me that had My Little Pony birthday supplies in stock. Love that they have tons of party themes complete with the usual plates, napkins, coordinating balloons, decorations and favors. They also have a dedicated favor and candy section which is great when you are trying to find bulk toys and sweets for party favors. If you do some shopping around online, you'll find that Party City has some pretty decent prices for hard to find themes like My Little Pony and Thomas the Train. The store is everything I expect it to be; a one stop shop for balloons, decor, even baking supplies. There are even a few catering items if you were really in a bind and low on time (chafing dishes, cutlery etc..). I would come back again! read more

I would give them zero if it was an option! Absolute WORST customer service. We had to stand in line to ask where to locate something. THEN we were told the incorrect place. Finally someone went and got what we were looking for and when asked where they found it they responded with I don't know. Soooo that was the first issue. When called to the counter we just got a "NEXT". No please. No "hi how are you?" NOTHING. I could not believe it.
