Yes some of the staff may not know everything. But there are a few there that have helped me out a lot. They technically are not authorized to tell you how to fix the problem but they are always willing to give their opinions on how they would do it. I have been there many times when other customers are acting like an ass and the staff have kept their cool. It's hard to review auto parts places, because the service can be so hit or miss. If you get the cheery, helpful older guy, you're in luck. If you get the grumpy old guy who hates his job because he wanted to retire five years ago or the young kid who is too lazy to look up interchange numbers, then you're going to have a bad experience. Unfortunately, this location seems to have a lot of younger staff who don't have the knowledge or older guys who are too crusty to care. I ordered a specific brand of spark plugs for my vintage car and they ordered them in from Calgary. I was very clear that I needed the specific brand and part number as that is what runs best in my car. Although I double checked that they were NGK plugs, I drove over to pick them up and to my surprise, they were Champions, which are known to run very poorly in my car. It set my project back a day because I then had to go order them in from a different store. I've had decent experiences here too and there definitely are some helpful staff, but I come out disappointed more often than I'd like. read more

Well, I will say I'm not as familiar with the stock in Part Source as I am with The Bay or Sears, but I'm thankful they have what I need for my vehicles. I recently needed a new arm for my windshield wiper and when here. I normally go to another store but seeing how I was at this end of town I stopped in. And, I was surprised to find the cost was less that what I would pay the other store. Granted, I don't have a huge appreciation for cars/trucks, etc, but I will say the staff and parts people at this store helped me out and gave me a quick lowdown. I know, for being a farm girl I certainly have become urbanized! The nice thing about Part Source is if the part you need isn't in stock they can order it in. I know, most places can do this, but I felt comfortable that they wouldn't go to a pick-your-part joint and sell me a crapped out piece of poo. Thanks Part Source. He must've pressed the wrong button to yell at someone else and I was the unfortunate recipient, not very professional. Let me start this off by saying that I'm not sexist. However, I find it's never a good sign when you go into an auto parts store and find it staffed by young girls. Doesn't it seem like an important business strategy for a parts store to hire someone who knows the difference between a water pump and an alternator? Unless you're after some goofy "limited edition" sticker for your 89 crown Victoria, then don't bother wasting your time at this joke of a business. Especially when there's a NAPA nearby. read more

Absolutely terrible experience this evening with the North Edmonton Parts Source Location. Today in the after noon (Jan 3rd 2017) I called the North End Parts Source for a stock check and price check on a Alternator for a GMC Sierra and the employee on the phone informed me there was one in stock. A reman'ed 145amp alternator which would cost $160 and change, I was thrilled they had one in stock that was a reasonable price for a local store. So after work, I drove across town based on the quote I was provided on the phone so I could pick up the alternator tonight and get my truck fixed.... But upon getting to the store and talking with the Asian fellow I spoke to on the phone, he said he remembered talking with me, but the price now will be $229.99 for that same 145 amp re-man'ed alternator. He quoted me the fair price over the phone but now said it was $229.99 when I got there. They said there was nothing they could do for me and I drove across town for nothing. I also spoke with Tony the Assistant Manager as well and he did not give a care in the world for myself, this previously loyal Parts Source customer and was not even willing to correct the issue despite the employee's error. The worst part is that the employee could not even admit his mistake, I mean we are only human. I explained to him that everybody makes mistakes, but he said "No no no" pretending like he has never made a mistake once... Yeah.. Likely.. Everybody makes mistakes, but I am confident I know what I was told on the phone this evening, that quote is what made me drive to the store in the first place. Terrible Store, Terrible Ethics, You think a corporation such as Part Source could make things right with a customer when one of their own employees makes a mistake, but in no way shape or form was I treated well by any of the staff members at this location. I was essentially called a liar and that I was making this up to save a few dollars. I can spend my money elsewhere, there is no way I am going to pay that ridiculous price for a re-man alternator. Will never be stepping foot again in Parts Source unless the company or store will offer an attempt to remedy my very negative experience. Try to stay away at all costs, if I could get a negative star rating I would, as this store does not deserve the 1 star that I had to select. read more

TERRIBLE! Very rude! Especially an older fellow named Tony. He must have been having a bad day because he was also rude to the 2 other people in front of me. Turns out they didn't have what i needed anyway. I tried Napa and they were surprisingly friendly and had what i needed. I know part source only hires non journeyman parts people so they can pay them almost minimum wage, but maybe if they hired someone with a ticket they'd actually treat their job like a career and value their customers. read more

Sexist and lacking knowledge. I went in looking for a K&N engine air filter. The salesman tried to sell me on a K&N washing kit, and when I told him I don't currently have a K&N filter, so unless this will wash a normal, disposable filter, then it's really not suitable, he suggested that I "ask my father or my husband or my boyfriend" for help to check the brand of my air filter. The brand is irrelevant -- a K&N washing kit is not suitable for any brand of disposable paper filter -- so I declined to buy the kit. He then tried to sell me a cabin air filter. Went to Part Source on Fort Road. Serviced (if you call it that) by some ignorant clerk named Mike who acted like he was doing me a favor just by talking to me through him demenour and attitude. I asked about weathertech floor mats and he told me that part source doesnt sell them. (I know that they do cause they were in the flyer.) He told me that it was not worth while for part source to get them in to sell as they made no money on them and it was usually a waste of time looking them up as customers never buy them anyway. I asked, but you can get me a price? He said, no he didnt think he could. :-\ (WTF?) I asked then why were they advertised in the flyer? He said to fool people into coming into the store. He said if I really wanted them so bad that he suggests I go to JBs or some other place cause they will be cheaper there. As I was walking out I heard another staff member tell him that they could get them in and that he should have helped me more. Thats right he should have helped me more, cause I am not going back to that store for anything from now on. I will go out of my way cause obviously the staff are trained to tell people to go elsewhere. I see this as not only a bad service from that clerk but even worse management.
