People would not even open it up to investigate. The owner of Hartland computer told me about Doc Computer repair in Nicholasville KY, "The guy there can red neck wire it if anybody can." I took it to Doc's. They eyeballed it and said they could likely fix it. They also looked the tablet up and told me that parts and support from the manufacturer was ending next month and I would need to get a hustle on to get to them if this failed to work. The weekend passed and they called me and said it was fixed and ready for pickup. OMG I was so happy! It was $140 which I had approved at drop off. I will be back to Doc's! Great place. I also took in a older MacBook Pro that would no longer boot up. When I got my computers back (at more than $200) things were fine -- for about a month or so. The trackpad on the Air stopped working and the cursor frequently moved on its own. I took it to the Apple Store and they replaced the trackpad. The cursor problem got worse. Back at the Apple Store again, they said that the back of the computer did not match the top of the computer -- the serial numbers didn't match and evidently the trackpad didn't fit correctly when it was replaced by Hartland. The cursor issue was also caused because the back had been replaced by a back that didn't match. I ended up having to buy a new MacBook Air; the Apple Store did credit me for the trackpad they replaced but I was still out a lot of money because of what Hartland did. I guess they figured it didn't matter if they used cheap or substitute parts. Or maybe they just don't want to repair computers any longer. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
