FORCED TO PUT 1 STAR! Only know of this scam of a company because my friend used to work there and I signed up for an annual HVAC contract to help him win a contest they were running for the holidays. Fast forward several years, friend doesn't work there any more and have had two service requests over the past 6 months. 1 for my rental property and 1 for my main residence. Was an AC service for my rental property and it took several visits to figure out what the issue was...maybe. I quickly realized that the technician didn't have a clue what/how to help me. His bright idea was to fix things and work through a process of elimination that would potentially be an endless costly unknown bottomless pit exercise that would have cost thousands best case. Had to call the office and request another technician and was told that he was "the best one we have" by their dispatcher/admin, but they still sent someone along with the tech the next time, interesting isn't it? After days and days of no response finally received quotes that were unbelievable and I just didn't respond and ate the diagnosis fee. Ended up having another service company fix it for literally fractions of pennies on the dollar compared to what Parrish proposed. Plus on the FIRST visit. (1st time shame on you right?) The 2nd piss poor experience was just this week at my main residence, had a minor gas leak under my stove with the appliance connector. Washington Gas tagged the area left the issue noted to fix, and said this is easy, should take 5-10 minutes and not be an issue. My dad who is a 40+ year retired HVAC/Plumbing contractor saw the issue and confirmed the ease of the fix. He would have fixed it but didn't have the tools with him as he was just visiting. I Reluctantly had to call Parrish again as I was heading out of town and needed to get my stove operating again for my family while I was gone. (2nd time shame on me) Concerned that price gouging may be attempted as the technician will see that it was my wife handling the visit. Technician arrives as I was waiting to board my flight and my wife informed me after simply reading the tag/memo left by the gas company, the technician immediately stated that it would cost over $400 and take several hours to fix. HAAAAA!!! While on the plane before takeoff I heard this sad attempt of price gouging and called the main offices and voiced my opinion of the obvious scam attempt, and was told again by I believe the same dispatcher/admin that this technician "is the best we have" and that what he says goes etc etc. my Flight took off, but informed my wife to call their office before my signal was shut off to try and figure out some resolution to this absurd attempt of taking advantage of my wife. I even bought the in flight wifi to text my wife to just pay the diagnosis fee and tell this idiot to get the hell out of our house because he may have 33+ years of experience (proclaimed several times by the technician in an obvious and embarrassing attempt to hold credibility), but it seems like he's been dedicating the last 33+ years of his life to performing his trade absolutely incorrectly, which is sad to say the least. Can you imagine doing that? I would be ashamed of myself doing anything for that long and not being any good at it. So sad, and sounds like any other decent plumbing tech has probably forgotten more than this guy knows about plumbing, even apprentices I bet. In an attempt to put this behind her and get the stove operating my wife asked the tech again to seek advice or help because this sounded absolutely ridiculous, the technician again claimed to have 33+ years of experience and that there was no one else to call and nothing else could be done and this was our only option. Well comes to find out, the technician didn't have the right tools and said that he had to remove the exhaust fan to be able to do the work and that this was final, BECAUSE he was ill prepared and saw the attempt to price gouge??? Wow! Home office wasn't budging and he was apparently keeping up his price gouging bluff. Made me sick even thinking I had left my wife and Children to deal with this BS. So after paying the $106 diagnosis fee, the 33+ year "plumbing veteran" leaves. My wife calls another service that comes immediately at no cost and fixes the issue for $75! So there's your answer about Parrish. if you want to expose yourself to this stupidity and reckless behavior go right ahead and give them a call... but just remember that their idea of the "best resources" is probably in comparison to a rock or an inanimate object like a paper weight or a pile of shit! Just a sad sad approach, but understandable since they are based out of Manassas. So do yourself a favor and just don't consider Parrish for anything, you're probably better off trying to fix it yourself and breaking it even more and still end up paying less by calling another service. read more

Had a great experience with Parrish. They worked on my HVAC unit on one of the hottest day of the year. I thought I was in for an expensive repair or replace, but a quick visit and an inexpensive repair later, we were back up and running. The tech was careful to keep his mask on and was polite and engaging. Really happy with the whole experience. read more

Beware! We had a contract with Parrish for 18 years and they ended our contract after being loyal to them and paying a monthly contract fee for this time period. We set up an appointment to fix our attic fan. The technician told us there were two options, 1. fix the motor for $435.00 or 2. replace the fan for $700.00. We went with the 1. The technician could not find the correct part and came back after not finding the part. Then he told us that the only option was to replace the fan for $700.00. I said no and the tech left without doing anything for us. They wanted to charge for the time but he never fixed anything we were left with no working fan. Mind you we had a contract for 18 YEARS and paid monthly on this contract which fars out weighs the fee for his time. If there were two options to fix this fan, and we went with one of them, he could not complete the job, why would we pay anything? Very disappointed after being a loyal customer and they pulled the plug on us. Customer service is the worst! Beware if you want to be a loyal customer. UPDATE: When I called to express my dissatisfaction I received attitude from the management who accused me of calling just to get a discount. During the walk through the new owners saw that it was not fully level and I had to call Parrish to come out AGAIN. This technician came out and told the new buyers that it looked like Parrish did a "bandaid" job on the unit to appease the owner and that it was not fully level. This came close to stalling our closing. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Poor work and Poor Management. For years I have had Parrish Services provide routine maintenance to my AC and furnace. I have even allowed them to install a new A/C unit. In 2 years the AC unit was no longer level and needed service to it. They charged time to my home in the morning, they charged time to go to Lowes to get supplies, charge for another tech to come to the home, all without valid explanation. To add rocks and sticks to the AC they charged over $400. I talked twice to the manager about their lack of sufficient quote prior to the work being done and about how they can charge over 5 hours of labor while only being at the home from 9am-1030am. An hour and a half at the site and they charged for over 5 hours of labor. Will never use them again and will not recommend them again to anyone. I had a blown fuse or two and some shorted out light fixtures that interfered with about 1/3 of my lighting. Rusty and Brent were the electricians that came over and after a day's work my lights all work and I am awaiting an estimate for some additional work. Both Rusty and Brent explained the process to me and always kept me up to date with pricing. The total cost was much lower than I expected. Both of these gentlemen were efficient, polite and represent the company well. read more

I'm updating my review due to the exceptional attention and service I received. When the owner was made aware that our new AC was not working and having repeated problems, Alan called me personally and came out to asses the work. He was honest and admitted that they messed up and the system we were sold would never work with our existing furnace without modifications. He explained things to us clearly and asked for a chance to make things right and salvage a 20 year relationship or he would completely refund our money if we were not satisfied. He came up with a plan that required a full days work at no cost to us. Two months later our system is working very well even during the current 95-98 degree days we are having. I hope once the Fall comes the heating side of the system is also problem free but if I have issues, I know Alan will make it right and that's worth a lot. Things don't always go tight but when they don't, I'm satisfied that Parrish Services will stand by their work and make sure we are happy customers. read more

Mr. Greco is a fantastic example of why we continue to utilize Parrish services for a variety of house projects/needs. I can tell educating customers and building long term relationships are values encouraged by this team, more so than pushing a quick sell or pressuring clients with fear that the house will blow up if they don't fix it right away. Mr. Greco still took the time to educate me on what my problem was if we wanted to fix it in the future, and he never made me feel like I was wasting his time. To make a long story short, I had problems with my heating and water heater which are connected. I had 11 different appointments and 7 different technicians with Parrish to diagnose the problem. They even had me purchase a $200 thermal expansion tank for my hot water heater, which did not solve anything. Finally, my home warranty company sent out a technician from a different company who correctly diagnosed the problem in under 30 minutes. (A clogged pipe feeding into my water heater!) My impression: There are more knowledgeable technicians out there that are much cheaper. Parrish also seemed to be very sales oriented. Their techs always made it seem like I needed to buy something else for my system (expansion tanks, mixing valves, UV lights, etc.). I almost got a service contract with these guys (which they push pretty hard). I'm very thankful that I didn't. I'd look elsewhere. read more

SO OVERPRICED!! I had a heating, AC, plumbing annual package with these guys, but they continued to absolutely GOUGE me with their pricing whenever I had an issue. Their plumber provided me with a quote of $1,100 dollars to fix a pinhole leak in a PVC pipe -- I hired another plumber to address the issue for $95 dollars. I had already cut the down payment check for $600, but was able to get the other quote within 4 hours. I called them and asked that they rip up my check and that I would not be having them do the work -- they assured me the check would be ripped up, but instead cashed it 5 DAYS LATER! It took 1.5 weeks for them to reimburse me. When I replaced my AC unit, their quote came in $2,000 dollars higher than the vendor I ended up selecting despite using the same equipment. They also had to come out on 3 separate occasions to fix a basic toilet leak -- took my new plumber 1 trip. Needless to say, I canceled my service with them and have found a competent, FAIR, company to work with. read more

Parrish is so much more about a sales pitch than productive customer service. They nearly always were teling me what appliance or part of my systems could go bad soon or already were in need of replacement/repair. I had them replace my entire HVAC system. The price seemed fair BUT...a large but...I had TWO gas leaks after installation of the new system. BOTH were where they'd connected the new to the existing pipes. So not only could I have had major medical/property problems, they didn't cover the cost of repair because "it wasn't all their installation". I couldn't wait for my overpriced contract to expire. I've now got an honest and effective service company. Good riddance, Parrish. read more

We had good service from Parrish for a year but when we called this year we were bitterly disappointed. Alfonso Wilson came out and tried to sell us a whole new unit when all we needed was 2lbs of freon in a 9lb unit. Make sure you find out who your tech is! This guy is a sales man. If you have 2-10 Home Warranty, I recommend you request they NOT send Parrish Services to handle any HVAC issues. They were unresponsive, tried to sell us services we didn't need, and in the end would have cost more than Michael & Son coming out and providing us service off-Warranty (which is the option we went within the end). read more

Despite the dismal reviews they've received, we went ahead and used them - mainly and only because our home warranty company told us to. Well, they were just as bad as everyone says. I've now had two technicians come and approximately 12 hours of my life wasted with no results. PS. if you do decide to use them and they give you a 5 hour window, don't bother staying at home until the last 10 minutes. Doesn't seem like they'll come before then (or call 1/2 hour before they come like they tell you they will). read more

This company is horrible. They were called out to fix an electrical problem by my home warranty company. After 3 trips they finally did the repair. Then I start receiving bills from them. After talking to their billing department they agreed that they made a mistake and the home warranty company should be billed. Low and behold months later I now get a letter from a collection agency today. This company is incompetent in its billing and is incompetent in its service. STAY AWAY! read more

Keep looking. Turn around and hit the back button because Parrish is one of those aweful companies. I called Parrish because a friend used them. Later I found out they my friend was overcharged $$ and didn't like them himself. Listening to my friend is my own fault. I had to get a freon refill. They charge $160 first lb. and just under $50 every additional pound. After which I agreed to sign up for the service contract because the tech promised as part of the service visits they will inspect the whole system end to end to make sure you are covered. WRONG. They come in find the obvious stuff and say its going to be more money to do a REAL complete check. Scam. DO NOT sign up for the service contract, Parrish will push it like a drug on the corner when they are in your house or after the job for a "follow up" call. It's a sales call. They called multiple times when my contract had expired, even after I told them them I was not interested in another year. I thought being a service contract "member" would have privledge but nope, they are terrible to everyone. Avoid them at any cost. read more

This if the first yelp review I have written because I am so unhappy with Parrish Services. July 2013 I came home to my old system A/C being frozen they came out told me I needed a new system but could get me up and running. I originally thought I was going to buy a system through them so the freon and hard start would be "included for free". I also signed up for the maintenance contract. When I called back to cancel the new system I was charged 700 for the freon/service call/hard start.( this was supposed to include the 10% discount I got with the maintenance contract I signed up for). I felt a little taken advantage of but moved on. September 2013 I bought new system that was less expensive but kept the Parrish Maintenance contract. The maintenance contract was $16 a month *2 inspections a year * heat and cool check *clean coils change filters. The first maintenance call I made was April 2014 (system is now 7 months old) They came out did the heat and cool check. Thy guy told me that filers were not enough I needed to install this air purifier in my system $1400, but he could give it to me for the low low prices of $1100. I was left feeling like every time they are going to come to my house they are going to try and sell me stuff. I canceled the maintenance contract. Remember I have at this point paid $160 in maintenance contract dollars. This month another $16 came out of my bank account. I called to complain and was told since on the 1 visit they did both a heat and a cool check they have satisfied what they were going to give me and i needed to continue paying until July. It didn't matter that the heat and cool check were done on the same visit. They never said it would be two visits. So for $192 They come out 1 time for 20 minutes. The company is a ripoff and they are all about trying to get as much money from a client as possible until they break. read more

Stay away from Parrish Services and look for someone that has more credibility. I say this after nearly 6 months of troubleshooting a water heater they installed in 2007. First, they said we have no record of installing this water heater, so no warranty from us. I had to go through HMS then. Then, finally when we paid them, they came to check the water heater and said oh yeah we did install it (because there is a big honking parrish services sticker on the water heater). But, that doesn't mean I don't have to pay HMS. They quickly diagnosed the problem with burner assembly and put in a new one in a week. But that wasn't it. So, they said ... oh well it wasnt the burner assembly, it's the ventilation. So they cleaned up the ventilation. That still didn't fix it, so they said ... hmmm ... it must be the gas control valve because that's about all a water heater has. So they put in a new gas valve. And, that wasn't it either. So the manager calls me and says, I don't know what it is and I want to give up. You should call someone else. Thanks for wasting 6 months of my life and keeping me without hot water to tell me you give up. By the way, the water heater is still under warranty! read more

It's now almost 2pm, I called at 11am to check why I had not gotten a call back,they said they'd check on it and call me back. I still have not heard back...growing very impatient here. I don't understand the other reviews! I guess all the HAPPY customers don't bother to get on Yelp and express their satisfaction. When we lived in VA, this is the company we always used when the heating or air went on the fritz. They always came out when they said they would and fixed everything quickly. One summer day the A/c broke when it was 100 degrees. Parrish was backed up with work, but promised to fit us in on this ungodly hot day. Without them, it would have been a sleepless night! This company is the worst!! They checked out my a/c unit last year, and tried to sell me a new one, because I have an older R-22 unit.. When I refused, they deliberately left the top valve connection loose, so the coolant would gradually leak out.. I had the system checked for leaks this year, with a different company, and none could be found after the leak test was done.. These people are criminals.. read more

Today they called and it was yet another week. I am stuck using this company because HSA home warranty does not have any other approved contractor in this trade. You do not want to use these guys! Very pricy, they sell you the yearly maintenance contract and then don't want to do what it takes to complete their work. Their goal is to separate you from your money and give you mediocre service. I had a leak in my A/C compressor unit, and instead of suggesting fixing it, they re-charged it with Freon gas and never bothered to tell me about the leak until I discovered it later on from another contractor! Lack of communication between what their technicians say and what their system states. They want to give you the impression that they are a decent company but they really are not! They are good in signing you up and scheduling you for a service and that is about it! I regret ever doing business with them! read more

Stay away from them. Agree with many that this is probably one of the worst heating and air conditioning service in Virginia. The technician is subpar, slow, takes much longer than what another technician needed to do exactly the same thing - just diagnosis. Was charged $180 despite being so-called signed up for a priority service membership at $16 per month. There were no document that states the work done that would be signed off by me. In comparison, another company charged only $65 to do the diagnosis. No so-called $106 trip fee (just to come out to the house - no work involved. Work is charged on per man-hour basis; so if you get a very slow technician, whom I believe is also subpar, you get billed at $120 per hour regardless. That's like daylight robbery. So, again, stay away from them!!! read more

Parrish Services sent a technician to my home to fix a broken garbage disposal. He looked at it and demanded to be paid $45 before he would even touch it. This was a " service fee" for showing up. Then he said it would cost $475 to fix the garbage disposal. I checked on the garbage disposal unit- it costs $75 at Home Depot. So basically he wanted $400 to install it. Avoid this company- they are out to rip off people and charge exorbitant amounts of money. I doubt they will last long in this economy with this kind of service. read more

I'll make this short; I had a problem with my AC late in the season early in the fall. After seeing Parrish at my next door neighbors house a few times I got a referral from them. A tech from Parrish comes out and after telling me I needed at least $1500-$2000 worth of maintenance work on an 8 year old system, tells me he can fix my immediate problem for $350. I tell him to go ahead and fix the issue but I am going to take pictures and show the work order to a trusted HVAC person I know - FYI he was on vacation at the time. After he's done he then tells me to tell my other HVAC person "You had to pay what you had to pay". After talking to my trusted HVAC person, it turns out the part cost Parrish less than $50 to purchase and should have cost me more than $150 to install. A few days after getting this information I called Parrish customer service and explained my issue. After a 10 minute run around I was told a "manager" would call me back. Three calls and two week of effort later and I NEVER heard from anyone at Parrish. This was 3 months ago. Thanks Parrish! read more

In March 2014 the coldest day ,my heater didnt work , I called them and the technician fixed and charged me almost $400 plus $16/month as member for one year! However , my air conditioning is not working in the hottest day June 29, 2014 . I called them , they sent the technician came over and they are going to change coil in and out side next week . It will cost me $6000. I told the technician you better do good job , cause you guys had lot of bad reviews all one star, he said dont worry thats only home warranty services which we don't carry that anymore. What a joke. Home warranty company steers them your way, they reschedule their appointment, you re-arrange your schedule and take time off from work, and then they don't show up. Tech did call at 9 p.m. to say he would be happy to come by first thing in the morning. Called home warranty company and told them NEVER schedule work at my house with these losers again. read more

TERRIBLE COMPANY! DON'T USE PARRISH SERVICES IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY! We were told to use Parrish through our home warranty company. It is safe to say not only will we not be using them again, the warranty company won't either! They kept giving us the run around on a part for our hallway bathtub. First they got the wrong part, then the warranty company wasn't sending them a new one, on and on! FOUR MONTHS LATER after getting the run around one too many times I put my foot down and demanded my warranty company let me use a different plumbing company. The plumber got here at 11:30 this morning and had it fixed by noon. In another instance we needed them to come snake a drain that was flooding our basement. It was connected to the sink and dishwasher. The earliest appointment they could give us was a week from the point I made the claim. After a week of eating off paper plates with plastic forks because we couldn't wash our dishes. My fiance took the day off and waited around all day for them. They never showed up OR called to say they weren't coming. After I called and spoke with the manager he sent someone out the following day - I had to take the day off work. Ladies and Gentlemen..... Please beware of this company if you need your AC repaired or inspected. Here is what happened to me last week. My AC was not cooling properly and I call these folks to check out the system. They send out a tech named Maurice who tells me that some freon needs to be added to my system. That's all that the AC needed....a little freon. He was at my home maybe 25 minutes. When he left...the system was cooling. However, his demeanor was definitely not cool....meaning that he was looking to get in and out as quickly as possible. I've never seen anything like it in quite some time. I should have recognized that this was trouble. The upshot...This dude then ends up overcharging the system with freon which in turn causes the entire system to shut down within 24 hours of the service call. Honestly, I was somewhat suspicious when this guy tried to "hard sell" me a service contract...telling me how much $$$ I would save if something "happened". No, I didn't buy the service contract. The next day, I decided to call another local AC contractor who diagnosed what had happened. He gave me the bad news...along with some insight which I pass along to you. The upshot....The service call from Parrish Services cost me a lot of money and I am going to report them to the BBB. I ended up having to replace 50% of the entire air conditioning system. Yeah...I am furious about this experience and being taken advantage of by this company. Don't get burned.... With the economy stinking these days...evidently some people think they can "create" some business on their ownand at the homeowner's expense. My advice....Steer clear of this company.... read more

I called about a strange odor coming from my unit and they came out the next day. The repair guy who came was very friendly and discovered a mold infestation, which he proceeded to clean up and recommended a UV unit that I went with. Hopefully the UV will keep future mold and mildew to a minimum. Installation was very fast. read more

I had them install a whole house generator, and was extremely pleased with the process. There were some delays that could have been better communicated to me, but once all the parts were in, the installation was a breeze. We haven't lost power since we had the generator installed, but I am confident that if we do, the generator will click on as tested. read more

We've been had an HVAC contract with Parrish Services for 13 years and a plumbing contract for 2-3 years. Over the past several years, respect for my time has declined and their appointment window has increased. Today, 15 minutes before my appointment window closed, I called dispatch and learned the tech was going to be an additional 2-3 hours late. Of course, the supervisor on the line indicated that she was just about to call us, but it took me initiating the call to learn this. Excuses are constantly made as to why the techs are late; the focus is always on the other customer and the other job that is delaying the tech, and no consideration is given to the inconvenience caused. I had to listen to the supervisor talk over me for 20 minutes about why these things happen and she refused to provide me a name with someone "up the chain" for customer service. I eventually had to hang up as she would not stop talking. When we decided to initiate a maintenance contact with Parish, we were told our monthly fee was to provide us "priority precedence" in terms of service response, but this is clearly no longer the case. They take our money and we wait just like any other call-in customer. You would be better served to just call when you have a problem. Parish clearly has enough business that they no longer need my business. Alan, we hope you read this because your company no longer reflects the great standards with which you started. Clearly you can no longer provide the same level of service to your customers because you have so many, to the point that you can let your long-time customers walk away. On a positive note, we contacted the Billing folks and advised them of the cancellation of the plumbing service plan, and we were promptly provided a refund of our payments for the current contract. At least the money folks know how to respond to customers quickly and decisively. read more

Our experience left us wondering whether the technician was more interested in increasing the charges or fixing our heater. We forfeited the $350 that would have been credited towards additional work and went with one of the local Leesburg companies. read more

My furnace pilot light wouldn't light. My home warranty company hired Parrish Services to come out and look at it. The technician showed up in the time slot they provided. It all was fixed in about 30 minutes. Afterwards he explained what had happen and informed me of the other services. Couldn't have had a better and quick experience. I would recommend them to anyone in the area. read more
