We were in the area to visit Mt Washington, perfect distance to see even more though. The mountains surrounding Hillwinds are just as beautiful. The river next to our building was a quaint babbling brook that completed the New Hampshire charm. The chairs on the walkway overlooking the river were so nice I wish I could've bought them off of the owners. The owners were nice to us, and tried to accommodate a last minute request without any gripes. They also answered all our questions about the surrounding area with a smile, even though they must tell visitors the same thing about local restaurants and attractions. Check in was fast, maybe 2 minutes. The Lodge is clearly a busy business. On a Tuesday night they had no vacancy, gladly we had a reservation for our room. Said room was clean, spacious and regardless of past reviews, the room did not have a musty smell, nor did the room need a dehumidifier. Though, it may not make a difference we had a second floor room in the riverside building. The room did have all the amenities that are detailed on their site (ie fridge, microwave, ironing board ect). The breakfast was a perfect launch of the day. A bagel, piece of fruit and coffee had us ready to hit the road. Check out was even faster than check in.

Extremely clean, room smelled clean. Besides that what I loved was the fact that you have grills available to you, there are benches near the river, they have a fire pit you can use, they supply the wood, and there is a good size pool too. They have corn holes, and a volley ball net. The grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. They provided a light breakfast of muffins, cereal bars, orange juice and fruit cups. My only advise is pick a room on the 2nd floor because you can hear your upstairs neighbors. Thankfully by 10pm they quieted down. I highly recommend it!

Having struck out with campground availability at my usual haunts, I was quite pleased to hear that Maple Haven had a site (albeit reportedly small) to accommodate my needs. As the weekend of my booked stay grew closer, I were dismayed to hear of rain for the entirety of the trip, but decided to give it a shot anyways. I'm glad I did! Despite the darkening skies, Maple Haven was an easy find. The woman in the office was very nice and quick to get me my campsite before the storm clouds completely rolled in. Due to the rain, there were some cancellations at the campground so I was offered a larger, more private site. "B1" was roomy, located next to a brook, with a nice picnic table and fire pit. Sand had clearly been added to one area of the cleared space which was a good spot to set up camp... less sharp pointy rocks to poke through the floor. It softened the ground under foot but made for more extensive cleanup as I repeatedly tracked it into my tent. Needless to say, I took a trunk full of sand home. It POURED during my trip but my campsite remained intact... no lakes formed, brooks did not overflow. Things were very secure. The driving force behind considering Maple Haven were the advertised showers/bathrooms. I enjoy camping, but I also enjoy the ability to take a long, hot shower after a 10-mile hike in the woods (my usual activity on these kind of trips). The bathroom itself could have been a bit cleaner but given the circumstances... wet, muddy ground outside... I was not bothered by them. The outdoor showers looked spacious, but due to the weather, I had to resort to the indoor one. It was very small (I was warned of this by the office) but it was hot as could be and absolutely served its purpose. The bathhouse is by no means fancy, so if this is what you need, look elsewhere. Otherwise, this no frills amenity was a must-have for my the trip. I would certainly consider staying here again. I had plenty of privacy, the amenities I desired, and a well-maintained, quiet campsite.

Upon checking in, we found there was no way to lock our door (inn keeper said, "it's Vermont, we don't lock our doors.") The smoke/fire detector in our room was beeping every 15-20 seconds. The top bed linens and pillows were dingy and dirty. A bath robe that hung from the door looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long, long time. My wife and I spent no more than 5-10 minutes in the room following our "discoveries." We did not feel safe or secure at this inn, and so, we immediately booked accommodations at a nearby hotel for a 3 night stay. The hotel reservations were considerably more expensive, but, my wife and I felt neither safe nor secure at McIndoe Falls Inn. And, on the backside of a multi-year pandemic, we had concerns with the lack of cleanliness. The inn is in dire need of a refresh. Finally, and inexplicably, they also charged our card for the remaining balance of the entire, 3 night stay. I sent them an email at 4:44pm, just a few minutes after we left to inform them we would not return. I don't have a problem with the initial deposit for the first night. I greatly resent being charged full rate for a 3 night stay, while we were only there for 10 minutes. Based upon innkeepers previous comment, we were their only guests, so it's not like others were beating down the doors to get in. I will be disputing the balance charges with my credit card company. In case I haven't been clear enough, I do not recommend McIndoe Falls Inn, at all. The pictures and descriptions on their website is a gross misrepresentation.

Stay here! This place is magical! I taught a workshop at McIndoe Falls Inn (btw...it pronounced…read moremac-in-do) and the innkeepers are amazingly warm, accommodating, and kind. My room was beautiful in a rough elegance kind of way and so comfortable! If you want to see the Fall foliage or simply have a place to get away and rest then this is the place to be!

My wife and I stayed at this campground for our first trip to the White Mountains. We were very…read moreimpressed with the different options for each campsite, we chose one closer to the river. It is very easy to get to and is right off the Kancamagus Highway. Full disclaimer: our stay was late June, right before Memorial Day so it we had the place to ourselves. We chose campsite #10, it had plenty of space for our vehicle and made it very easy for load in/out. I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground).The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road. If you're passing through Lincoln (via 93 exit on Kancamagus) you will see some self serve wood piles by some gas stations.

Passaconnaway is a great (relatively) primitive campground right off the Kanc. It's got drinking…read morewater and outhouses, but no showers, sinks, or RV hookups. It has a couple of nicely secluded spots and tends to stay pretty quiet (in part because of the lack of amenities). There's a series of trailheads from the lot just across the street that acess some beautiful hikes, and since it's close to the center of the Kanc you're pretty close to whatever else you want to go see in that neck of the woods. Bring cash because it's an "iron ranger" system (currently $20 per night for one car) and the firewood there is $6 a bundle.

Many options but many with poor reviews. After a week of research was able to narrow the selection down to two places and the breakfast served here was the deciding factor. Booking as super easy on their web site. The Inn is located in a quiet area outside of the college town of Plymouth in Compton, NH a 5 minute drive to the arena and minutes from the highway made this the perfect location for our stay. Easy to find and ample parking made getting there easy. When we arrived we went to the entrance abutting the parking area. Travin answered the door, allowed us in from the cold and got our checking in under way, promptly checked in with in seconds of coming in. We were escorted to our room and each room we went through, Travin explained that we could make use of at anytime but to please be mindful of other guests sleeping. Up a narrow set of steps, being an old building from 1764, I would imagine they once were the servants staircase. We arrived to our room, key passed to us and we were on our own. Fast and efficient check in process. The room was fairly large for a queen bed and you can tell it is an older home but very well maintained. There as a small crack in the bathroom flooring, but very minor. We went out and met up with family and grabbed a pizza for our room. The room was well heated with no drafts which one would expect in such an old home. We slept very well, bed was comfortable. In the morning David greeted us and asked if we had a preference of where we wanted to eat! We were given a choice of the dining room or their lovely greenhouse porch. It was a beautiful day but a bit chilly. David was thoughtful enough to place a small space heater by our table to keep us warm, so wonderful! For breakfast we were not given a choice but recall Trevin asking if we liked eggs and bacon, absolutely! The eggs were baked with some cherry tomatoes halved and some light seasoning. He made this amazing bread stick. It was a croissant bread wrapped around a piece of bacon and baked off. Brushed with some Dijon and finished off with sesame seeds. YUM!! Not a crumb was left on our plates. Checking out was easy peasy, leave your key in an envelope on the dresser and your out! We really liked the town of Plymouth and will be back to explore some more. Definitely will stay here again. Thank you Trevin and David for your amazing hospitality.

I've camped here a few times and there is so much to like about this campground…read more In the past we've really enjoyed the option to do things on the pond- we've put our inflatable kayak on it and paddled around for a lazy afternoon. Watching people put paddleboards on the water too definitely seems like fun too! The location is great for easy access to the hikes up Osceola and Tecumseh. Waterville Valley and Lincoln are both very close as well so there has been plenty of things for us to do and places to explore. We've made advanced reservations but also had luck with grabbing a first come first serve site by heading up on a Friday morning. But usually the campground is pretty busy so we wouldn't chance getting a first come first serve spot if we were coming in on a Saturday. Even though it can be busy, most groups are pretty good about keeping noise down after dark but its not uncommon to wake up a few times overnight or super early in the morning from a car door slamming or a car beeping. The A sites are pretty remote and much quieter than the other sites. Lately, we've been more enamored by the D sites due to their central location. We were disappointed at our most recent visit that most of the toilets were out of order and that there was only 1 working shower in the entire campground. Hopefully they'll fix this soon since it is a really nice option to have while camping.

We have been here every season and it never gets old! The resort is really nice. Our condo was just a short walk to the newly updated rec center that has a beautiful pool and hot tub. The outdoor pond is clean and has a nice beach area, they even provide floaties. Our condo was updated and clean. Plenty of room and even nice outdoor seating. The fact Deer Park is just off the exit made it so nice and easy to find. The views and nature path are really nice too.

Solid blues and black diamonds for the intermediate skiiers and plenty of greens for beginners. Love the bubbled in 6 person lift for the windy days. All around great mountain that I love to keep coming back to every year!
