My one complaint about my experience is the AI system that fielded my questions about inventory; it kept repeating questions I had already answered about what I'd like to see, so I wasn't sure my preferences were going through. But once I got to the showroom, it was apparent my info got through, because Stephanie had set aside the pieces I was interested in. She was very helpful, and patient with my indecisiveness. One of the bags I wanted was out of stock, and not coming back, but Stephanie remembered there was a return at the warehouse, and managed to get it to me. Because it's DTC it can be challenging to purchase online given the level of customization (returns are accepted but at your own shipping cost). I was spending too much time agonizing on the website - so I scheduled a 30 minute virtual styling appointment through the website. It's $30 but you receive $30 credit afterwards. Ordered a bracelet for my daughter for Christmas. It was WAY too big. In order to return it, I had to pay return shipping and a processing fee and they don't refund original shopping. Biggest sham company! Horrible! I paid $400 for a so called "handbag" that looked worn and was the size of a small make up bag with a cheap short leather strap I could not even get it on my shoulder. Advertised it using a size zero model so it looked bigger. I tried to EXCHANGE it it but they doubled down saying it was a final sale. NOT a luxury bag..complete sham! I can understand the frustration people express having dealt with customer service a couple times myself. We are used to a "customer is always right" culture where Amazon refunds us before they even get our return and ultimately that is not realistic for a small business. I do agree that sometimes the customer service responses come across in a way that isn't well received and maybe there could be rewritten responses to be a bit more apologetic and explain the goals of the brand. For instance I had received a bag with a bad crease and wasn't happy with it and the response I got from customer service felt very boilerplate "that's just how our products are". A message like "I am so sorry you are disappointed with your Jane! [details about company values, how they select their leathers etc] but we are sorry that it is not a match for you. Here is our return policy please let me know how you would like to proceed." A response like that would have gone a long way for me! All that said I simply cannot stay away. The products are beautiful and Irene's glowing passion for what she does brightens my day every day! I had a rough week last week and literally watched reruns of PPTV to cheer me up. This company is an absolute disaster. I have to be honest, watching the cringey instagram videos of the frenetic owner should have been red flag enough but my Mom really liked some of their bags. Well, we placed an order and a week later were notified it was "cancelled for unforeseen circumstances". Two weeks went by and no refund so my Mom had to have the third party vendor step in. Fast forward a couple months, and I just bought two bags, sure enough we got a cancellation email and no refunds as of yet. I learned of Parker Thatch last year and I am hooked. I have now purchased multiple bags from them and love every one of them. I have to say, I have never owned this many purses before now, but I have also found that each has held its purpose in such an amazing, intentional way. True luxury but not frivolous. I have found the leather to be well made and of great quality. The sling and little buddy are unlined - which takes some getting used to but it is intentional to the structure, so I get the reasoning after you understand it. The nylon is well structured on the Jane bag I own and I have carried it on multiple trips. It has been used a great deal and holds up beautifully. The bags are pricey, they are not something that is accessible to everyone. However, there are quite obviously brands that are more expensive and this brand is a luxury brand that is far more accessible than many others. I find the cost is worth the product. You know they are well thought out, handmade, intentionally produced without excess. The quality is exceptional. They are made with the intention of use, and to keep them for years so you feel a true investment when getting their products. I have never had issues with returns and refunds. Their policies are well laid out on the website, you remove the tags they are yours, if not you have 14 days. I have also had issues with a strap breaking and customer service was fabulous as I was in the warranty period. Never an issue with them and they were very pleasant. Shipping is slower than Amazon but that's ok! We don't need everything in two days and this is truly a small business, which in my opinion makes it even more fabulous. The most atrocious customer service I have ever experienced. Buyer beware, stay FAR away from this company. Look at the HORRENDOUS customer service reviews. All they will do to ANY CUSTOMER CONCERN is respond and defend their position. Customer is NEVER right in their world. I have NEVER seen a brand respond this way to customers and at the laughably enormous prices they charge for their "premium goods", they should be embarrassed and ashamed at the service they provider customers. Disgusting. I purchased a crossbody bag and beaded strap and couldn't wait for its arrival. I received the bag and LOVED it. I was so excited to wear it. I put the strap on, put my wallet in the bag, put it over my shoulder, looked in the mirror, loved it again... I clipped the tags. I finished getting myself ready and gathering my toddler's things to go out to dinner. (Important note: I have a history of a bad cervical spine strain and subsequent spine pain following). Within TEN minutes, I said to myself "oh shit, this is heavy and already hurts my neck". The bag wasn't usable for me. I took the bag off, rewrapped it, and left for dinner. I emailed customer service within 24 hours of receiving the bag, letting them know of the issue, and they refuse my return because I clipped one threaded tag. I pushed back. I asked for my issue to be escalated. Not only was it not escalated, I continued to receive boilerplate responses, with a 5-day delay. How the hell is a consumer supposed to know if something like this would work for them without wearing it?! Why on earth would I keep the tag on when I planned on wearing it out to dinner THAT night?! I took the bag off, rewrapped it, and left for dinner. THE BAG IS STILL BRAND NEW. YOU ARE NOT EVEN COMING UP WITH A CREATIVE SOLUTION, LIKE A RESTOCKING FEE. I keep being told this is "industry standard" which is absolute BS and NOT TRUE. I told customer service how upset I am that I can't keep the bag, and asked them politely to not add insult to injury by making me keep a nearly $800 bag I CANNOT USE over a mere technicality. I ordered a pink suede card holder keychain. I knew the minute I took it out of the package it was flimsy and wouldn't hold up for longer than one month. I contacted customer service and asked if I exchanged it for a leather one would I have to pay for shipping a second time. Like other reviews, the customer service at this shop is HORRIBLE! I received a copy and paste standard response basically saying "Nope, you'll have to pay for shipping it back and reshipping a new one!" So basically 3 x for shipping. The tag bracelet looks cheap, and the chain feels like plastic. I also bought the pinky ring. I like the ring. It looks cute and I like the weight. The biggest problem with both is that they make your skin smell metallic because it is gold plated over an undisclosed metal. I also purchased the medium Mimi tote and the shoulder strap. I like the color pattern and the size of the bag, but it also looks cheap. I do carry it all the time because it is functional. I won't purchase from Parker Thatch again, though. As much as I love my sling bag, the stitching started to fall apart in less than a year (10 months). I found a large safety pin and was able to keep it together. It was to my surprise that when I reached out to Parker Thatch (just over two months laster) customer support, they said it was out of their 1-year warranty and that I "should take it to a local cobbler, shoe repair or specialty dry cleaner to help with the repair." I can't tell you the disappointment I felt with this response. They seem so proud of their products. I've even been to the store in Orinda with a client and bought her not one but two sling purses and straps....because I thought it was such a good product. It might be their policy but this response is not what I expected...especially for such a small, local, hand-made product oriented business. Don't waste your money!! I took a chance on a new brand and bought lil easy bag and Jackie strap. I threw my money down drain. paid almost $700 and I'm so disappointed. They do not exchange or return sale items and regular price items you have to get permission to return, lengthy process, the bag was on sale $399, carried it once and it picks up lint balls from everything! I had on T-shirt and nylon vest and lint was everywhere ,removed most of it with heavy duty box tape is only thing that works. Paid another $200 foe strap so short it's useless. The only way to contact customer service is through email--they provide no phone number. I was having problems with a bag, and we exchanged two emails. They weren't answering my question sufficiently, so I sent them a third email--no reply at all. I found a phone number through a Google search, and their voicemail says to email customer service! This sling in my opinion is the only pretty one she has, the others look easily hand made, nothing complicated. My final review, overpriced, no strap included(my strap from Etsy gets so many compliments) stains your wallet and any light stuff if you chose a dark color because she doesn't finish the inside, no pockets inside, leather seams too soft for a bag.
