This is a well managed and well maintained building. It still looks new as when it was completely finished in 2008. There are more buildings coming up in the McLean area now that the metro is near completion but the One Park Crest building is ideally situated down the hill in the cross between Westpark Drive and Park Run. It is about 20 minutes walk to three (3) metro stations in Tysons Corner. If you plan on purchasing, you want a building that's a decent walk to the metro stations and this one is perfect for that because it is not too close for you to hear the daily above ground train noise. You do not want a building that is too close to the highway either unless it has very good sound insulation. This building has pretty decent sound insulation. All units come with standard hardwood floors, granite counters, marble tiles and floors in the bathrooms, stainless steel appliances, and smart wiring for entertainment.
The HOA management team downstairs are responsive and professional. It is important that you have people who care about your building if you own a unit. They have a friendly small maintenance staff as well that cleans the hallways and common areas.
Most people who live here seem respectable of their neighbors. There are a handful of international people, young and old. You can tell from walking in the garage that the demographic is on the higher end of the income level. There aren't as many young children because the units are 2 bedrooms maximum. They do allow you to have a small pet. Once in a while you have someone who doesn't seem to follow the rules such as leaving their Harris Teeter carts in the hallway because their lazy arse do not want to walk back to the conveniently located 24 hours grocery store next door (do not worry about it being there because traffic is not bad coming and going and it is super convenient on snow days). There's also a Starbucks in the Harris Teeter building and they have free wifi. The downside is that you can get sweet cravings at night after watching a commercial on desserts and be at the Harris Teeter in 2 minutes to buy your red velvet cake or Haagen Dazs. I think I've added some pounds from the cravings.
There's a spacious party room upstairs with nice views for you to reserve as well as a library room downstairs. If you have guests over, there are two guest suites to reserve at reasonable rates (no house keeping though). The exercise room is pretty decent with 4 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 3 or 4 stationary bikes, weights, abdominal machine, and a massage suite.
The downside is that the pool on the roof is rather small but it doesn't get too busy. Also outside parallel parking is limited and with Ovations apartment opening up, it may be a challenge. However, there are guest passes for you to sign up for with the desk concierge and your friends can park in the garage with the required guest pass. Each unit has a reserved space(s) and towing is enforced. There is a 24 hour concierge at the front desk (3 people rotating shifts) and this is especially convenient when you have special deliveries but cannot be home to sign for them. It is also good for security reasons in addition to the several security monitors throughout the common areas of the building.
Overall it is a good building to live in. You can always try to buy those townhouses or single houses nearby but be prepared to bring at least $1M to the table for them. This building and the Tysons Corner area have great potentials, especially with the 4 metro stations coming very soon. read more
