Service was very friendly. My husband ordered a cinnamon roll and I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. By mistake I got a mushroom croissant but the very nice person behind the counter quickly replaced it with the correct one. We ate inside at a small table and found the croissants to be pretty good. My boyfriend came here and got his mother and I each this amazing cake. I don't know what it is called but it was the perfect cake. I am not one to ever choose a chocolate cake but it was delicious. I went in on a whim. I was looking to find place to get desserts because I was having eight people over for dinner. Everything is so fresh beautifully displayed of all that they offer. AVOID! - Carrot cake was over-cooked, dry, and the cream cheese layer tastes fake. - Pineapple upsidedown cake - inedible. Dry, lacked flavor, and just gross. - Cheesecake - dry and bland. Crust was the best part of it. I don't feel like any of these items were in sellable condition. I know it was towards the end of the day, but the store is still open for another hour and a half. I cringe thinking of any other unsuspecting customers who are about to spend hard earned dough here for garbage. I am extremely disappointed with this place. Went here at 4:30pm on a Saturday to pick up a couple of treats... and unfortunately I don't have good to report. Everything was dry, like it was days old. You can see that all of the moisture is sucked out of the pineapple. The cheesecake had virtually no flavor and was hard. While the carrot cake managed to keep some of its moisture with the frosting, the base was a bit burnt. Perhaps better if fresh, but I won't chance it. read more

Was craving macarons one day and found this gem near my apt. A lovely bakery that has an assortment of French pastries. I've only ever came here to buy macarons and cakes, but will definitely be returning to try their other selections. The macarons are a solid 4/5 stars. The cookie itself is baked correctly and had the perfect texture between the slight crunch of the shell and gooeyness from the filling. Most macarons here are also balanced in terms of sweetness, which I highly appreciate. So far, I've tried the following flavors: salted caramel, passionfruit, raspberry, earl gray, and green tea. My favorite go-to flavors are the salted caramel and passionfruit. The former has a great balance of the sweet caramel with the savoriness of the salt. The latter had a good mix of sweet and tart from the passionfruit. I've also had their fruit tart and cakes. The fruit tart was not baked on top of a classic tart shell, but on puff pastry. This added a sense of indulgence that a fruit tart sometimes lacks. In terms of the custard, fruit, and puff pastry, all elements were baked correctly and flavored well. The only thing about the puff is that the custard and fruit juices sitting on top tend to make the crust soggy - this eliminates an otherwise flakey pastry and makes it harder to slice/pull apart. There's a reason to why fruit tarts are typically baked with a tart shell as opposed to puff. The price of the pastries are very reasonable, and the service here is phenomenal. They are always kind and welcoming. They don't label all the different selection of sliced cakes they have, so I've had to ask a lot about what was inside, what the cake was called, etc., and they have always been patient with me. I got a DM from someone from the bakery explaining the tart has a chocolate layer underneath it (I double checked just now, and they are right! I apologize for the misinformation). I still think the crust tastes burnt though, and was quite hard to eat with metal forks when we ordered. THAT BEING SAID, apparently I need to order the "puff pastry fruit tart" next time--which we will try to do. I think with the change there might have been a change in terminology, which is what led to the confusion (though when I did ask about the croissant like crust before, the person there seemed to not know what I was talking about, and made it seem like they don't make it anymore, which was a little confusing). Changing to a 4 star review because I SUPER appreciated the quiet response through a back channel on yelp, and the clarification. So nice to get a real and kind response. That's worth a lot for us. Very dry cakes !! Maybe the big cakes are made often and are better then the smaller cakes. Sadly, the special birthday cake I ordered was not fresh at all. The cake/bread was stale. The whipped topping was hard. And it tasted spoiled. The birthday cake writing turned out to be just a plastic sign that ripped half the topping off the cake. Which didn't matter, since the topping didn't taste great either. I spent $50 almost and I wish I would have just gone to Ralph's. The mocha cake was what I ordered and it honestly Ruined the birthday cake portion of the night. It's Christmas Eve 2022 as I write this. Earlier today we picked up a croquembouche from Paris Bakery to eat tomorrow after Christmas Dinner. We ordered it well in advance and paid $75 for it. The price is fine, as far as I'm concerned, because a croquembouche is a work of art. When I walked in the bakery, they had a whole bunch of other croquembouche waiting to be picked up. They are apparently experts in this extremely complicated dessert. When I went to get mine, I noticed the entire base was broken. (See first picture on bottom right). They acknowledged it was broken and told me there's nothing they can do. However they offered to give us a free cake (a bouche de noelle). So we took the broken croquembouche home and put it on the counter. From then on, nobody touched the pastry box. A few hours later while having Christmas Eve dinner we heard a noise in the kitchen. Half the pastry collapsed on its own. (See second photo) Again, we didn't touch anything because at least half was still intact. Thirty minutes later we heard another noise. The entire pastry had collapsed (see third photo). The pastries are soft (they shouldn't be). Now we have to throw the entire thing out - we paid $75 and didn't even get to eat it. So now we have to go to the store and buy a pie or something for Christmas dinner. $75 down the drain. If the store had a website I'd tell them directly. But I can't find one. I'm annoyed. read more

I've walked by this place tons of times but never dared to walk in because it looks so dated. Since the reviews seems pretty decent, I decided to give this place a try. The pastries were extremely well priced, the danish was only 2.99 and napoleon was I think 3.99. I couldn't believe it! There was a lot of selections in terms of cakes and pastries. I asked the lady what's good there, she was friendly but seemed a little puzzled by my question. I had to ask her what was the best seller and she said the Napoleon cake. I put the danish in the air fryer when I got home to heat it up and it was delicious. I'm not sure if the Napoleon cakes texture is right, it was kind of hard on the bottom. Overall, I think this was a decent basic bakery, you can't compare it to high end places like Urth cafe because of the price. read more

Paris Bakery has a huge variety of pastries (sweet, savory, breakfast, desserts, bread, etc). The pastries and case are beautiful - variety of textures and colors, it was a lot of fun to look at. We ordered a mushroom and spinach quiche, chocolate croissants and almond croissants. We had all of our items heated up to eat at the bakery. We were disappointed because the quiche was still half cold and so were the inside of the croissants. I knew Westwood Blvd. quite well once upon a time ... the entire length of it and how it changed as it crossed National, Pico, Olympic, Santa Monica, and Wilshire Boulevards. And it did change. The unusual part might have been, and is, between National and Pico, where the standard issue but well maintained post-war stucco ranch homes typical of the Southland sit right on this busy thoroughfare. Thankfully, their garages are reached from alleys behind these homes. Above Pico, it tends to have many different storefronts, of which Paris Bakery is one, and has been there for a long time. It sits north of Santa Monica and south of Wilshire, right below Westwood Village, home of U.C.L.A. Right away, I noticed some interesting trends in the reviews of Paris Bakery. First, there are way more women reviewing this place, almost bringing up the notion of "real men don't eat quiche." Try telling that to a Frenchman or Quebecer and see what verbal and/or physical reaction you might bring about. Bakeries of all kinds, especially French and Italian ones, are a weak spot for me. Then, some folks mention that it is a little long in the tooth. I'd agree with that. Los Angeles definitely has its Francophone community, with some, along with other Europeans, coming over decades ago and making Southern California their home when it was growing rapidly and much more relaxed. The difference is that those folks were more apt to be "regular" folks, whereas it seems that, today, Europeans come over because of transfers, to partake in "the industry," or to open high-priced restaurants. Lastly, there was reference to how the bakery isn't very French. Their product is fairly, if not very, French, but I wouldn't expect anyone French to be taking my order at a place founded when Paris Bakery was. Cutting to the chase - after too much detail and demographic analysis - I wanted to eat too much of what was behind the glass cases in front of me. In these sorts of places, my eyes get way bigger than my stomach. Since this wasn't a planned stop as I was transiting between Century City and Westwood Village, I was going in to Paris Bakery to get "snacks." The young lady there was patient as I decided and I had three pastries put into a box. Their prices (per unit) were definitely decent, and especially for this part of Los Angeles. And the pastries were very good, with a definite pecking order in how good they were between them. Again, if one lived in the area and they could pick up some coffee (somewhere nearby) on the regular, they could rotate trying different pastries and settle into a "routine." I used to ride my bike or drive by this place at a time when a slice of pizza, McDonald's, and Burger King were my frame of reference, so the idea of a fancy bakery, things Parisian, and where to park dissuaded me from even going here. I recently found it as an impulse stop and am only sorry I didn't try it years before. Every major city needs at least one bona fide French bakery! And, while there have always been some in L.A. area, I only know of this one - Paris Bakery. As such, I might assign 4 stars to it, in synch with the words: TASTY - L.A. - FRENCH - BAKERY. As for the parking, use the meters out front. You're bound to find a spot nearby on Westwood Blvd. Just have a few quarters handy. read more

This might be unfair because we only tried croissants and pains au chocolat. We arrived early, before 8am, but they were puffy and dry, not flaky and fresh. I couldn't eat more than a bit and realized that the taste wasn't worth the calories. The kids didn't even finish theirs chocolate ones. The leftovers were revived by toaster the next day to avoid waste. It might be that their cakes are better, but don't go here for patisseries. read more

Disappointment of the year! I use to love this bakery. It's two min away from my house super convenient and I've been obsessed with their croissants and macaroons. It was authentic or as close to authentic as it gets. Everything was great until the new owner took over. Layers of raw dough, that's what you see on the pictures. It was the second time when I bought something uneatable from them. First time it was a Black Forest cake. Dry and obviously old, ended up in a trash. Horrible and heartbreaking.
