Love the pastries at Paris Baguette, but how many times I walked in and decided to go to the other bakery inside the H-Mart. (which is only few more steps from this Pairs Baguette called Tous Les Jours). Poor customer service, once I ordered a regular bubble tea, the person handed me a chocolate bubble tea instead and just walked straight to the kitchen. I waited for him to come back, he asked his manager to tell me that they actually ran out of regular milk bubble tea. I would appreciated if he would have told me the first place when handed me the chocolate bubble tea, I would totally drink it. But how irresponsible and unprofessional that is? No smiles, no greet. Tonight, I visited the shop again trying to get a cheese cake, there were about 5-6 people work in the shop busy cleaning up the store and shelves so they can probably close on time, meanwhile there was a line of people waiting to pay. again, No smiles, no greet, no customer service. read more

I've tried several baked good here and they're all good. It's pretty weird that it's all Asian employees dressed like 1920's France but whatever. You're going to pay a good couple of bucks extra compared to your average "Bakery", but it's because of the quality of product...and hipness. What's really amazing here is their cakes. IT's BETTER! if you like delicate little dessert and munch rather than an actual sandwich for lunch. Had some of the worst food poisoning of my life here. Previously to this experience, I loved eating here. I would get things to put in the fridge to save for breakfast every time i visited my boyfriend and it was pretty great. However, on sunday I picked up a egg and cheese and toast thing and put it in the fridge to eat the next morning. On monday, I ate it for breakfast. A few hours later I was having horrible liquid poops which continued all day and into tuesday. Now, 1:44 am wednesday morning, I just projectile vomited all over my boyfriend's bathroom. It has to have been the egg thing that did it because I ate nothing before that that day and nothing afterwards. Though I loved Paris Baguette, I will not be going back. Great place for a late night dessert and coffee stop. Some of the pastries are left out where you help yourself and some inside a refrigerated display. The coffee is self serve but lattes and other drinks are made for you. The service was friendly and fast. Just a note this place is located in a shopping plaza full of Asian stores. This review is mostly for the cronut, or rather, their croissant donut since Cronut has been trademarked by Dominique Ansel. Definitely better than Dunkin Donuts attempt at Sir Dominique's invention, which gets 0 stars in my opinion. You can actually see and feel the layers as you bite into it, and the cream isn't too bad. My biggest issue with the pastry is how GREASY it was. My entire hand was covered in grease after holding on to it, and the napkin I grabbed to hold it with right after got soaked in grease within seconds. I give the cronut 2 stars, but I have been to the bakery several times and they have some decent tasting stuff like the fruit pastry, strawberry cream pastry, and green tea cake. Like Caffe Bene, etc. Yes, the name is misleading, but stop knocking stars because you were expecting to find french baguettes inside. Geez. Did you notice the red bean, mochi, etc bakery goods, and the fact that almost everything else in this strip is Asian/Korean related? Anyway, I like this place. Everything I've had was pretty good, but beware some of the same items in here are pricier than in the bakery inside H-Mart within the same strip. I bought mocha bread once to find it in H-Mart right after for a couple bucks cheaper. The service isn't overly friendly, nor rude. They just do their job. Closest thing yet I've been able to find in the US that matches the fun cafes I encountered while in Japan. Most coffees and drinks are reasonably priced (cheaper than Starbucks, anyway), pastries and breads baked on site (been saying for years someone needs to start doing this again), and a nice decor. They could use more seating, and I haven't tried the shaved ice (huge bowls) or sandwiches yet, but my frappe and shopping bag full of breads and pastries were excellent. I'm not big on chain stores, but since I can't find a local doing this, having Paris Baguette down the road from my house is fine with me. read more

I am a big fan of the Paris baguette chain. Have been going regularly to the one in Manhattan's K-town but this one which just opened in Edison has a much nicer and bigger interior with the same selection. Perfect place to grab your bakery (a bit expensive than the Chinese bakery kinds) or to sit down and chill. The green tea shaved ice, I've had better else where (pssst tous les jours) I ordered the cup and it was really awkward to eat in... The ice melted way too fast by the way. The green tea cheesecake was disappointing. It was only a dab green tea cream at the top of the cheesecake. The pistachio macaron was eh, it was kind of hard. Laduree is definitely much better. I really like the space here though. It's not too crowded and the interior is well designed. I'd probably just stick with just drinks maybe, hopefully they're better than the pastries and desserts here.. Not Parisian in the least, and, from my experience, not a baguette on the menu. But most people just need to see "Edison, NJ" and they can come to the right conclusions. Yes, Paris Baguette is Asia-kitsch with a multinational flair--not unlike Caffe Bene. So many of these Korean corporate confections have the same underlying mentality: huge emphasis on visuals and a wow-factor, less focus on critical details. From the neon Eiffel Tower signage to the bejeweled blue interior, the place is far more chic and sophisticated than the strip mall setting deserves. And it certainly boasts long hours and bustling scene. The pastries on display look great, and my chicken salad sandwich on croissant tasted nice, though the way it had been cut had two drawbacks: 1) it made it look much larger than it was, 2) it completely fell apart after one bite. The coffee is adequate and reasonably priced, but a place that looks this good should have better than adequate coffee. And the signature item--the cronut--was disappointing to me. The croissant aspect was so buttery that it overpowered the blueberry, rendering the fruity aspect unnecessary and making the whole thing seem like a greasy, circular croissant. I much preferred the raspberry/hibiscus treat, which I think Paris Baguette calls something else. But it's basically a donut. Beyond that, it should convey a coffee-shop vibe, but I was overwhelmed by the signage boasting their seasonal offerings (which made it feel that much more like a chain). And the virtual complete absence of plug outlets makes lingering with a computer difficult. Furthermore, the wifi didn't work, and the cashier just responded with a guilty smile when I asked if wifi is likely to work in the future. For French delicacies in a franchise setting, you're better off with La Madeleine. For a coffee shop vibe, try the local offering in any town in northern New Jersey. Would like a chance to try more stuff here. We stopped in the other day after a big meal. Their green-tea ice with red bean was enticing, yet huge. Perhaps on another day where I have more of an appetite. Instead we ended up with a few take-home pastries. The pastries themselves were a tiny bit hit or miss, with the best 2 in my opinion being the steamed bread (mushipan in Japanese, unsure of what the Korean name for this is) and the Canele, a delicious Bordeaux specialty pastry with a caramelized outside and custard inside. Husband had an apple croissant which was okay, and then I didn't really like the red-bean donut (the pastry part was too dry and not soft and fried enough, I guess) But all in all, worth a stop in. a very pristine, well-decorated little shop. the breads are okay and the pastries/cakes aren't bad either. in general, it's selection is very diverse--covering almost every type of asian bread and pastry you could want--but lacking in any noteworthy taste. you can probably get better, fresher bread from another asian bakery. the only thing PB may have over other asian bakeries in the area is its large selection, and its convenient addition of a desserts/drinks bar. i recommend their mini macarons, which come as a 3-pack of blueberry, strawberry and coconut. i don't recommend their fruit drinks, which are very overpriced and very obviously just 90% juice mix. i've also heard good things about their take on the "cronut" and their cakes, which are quite pricey but definitely well-decorated and cute. i would say PB is very much targeted toward younger people, from its chic decor to its wide selection of westernized sweets (as opposed to traditional asian breads). this is a nice place to grab an afternoon bite with friends, but i would say you'd be better off buying bread for your family from a cheaper, less corporate asian bakery. read more

Terrible process at the register and terrible rewards program and app. Apparently you cant get reward points and use a coupon at the same time. Once you scan for rewards and remember that you have a coupon, you can't use that coupon. The manager is unable to reverse the transaction as well. I was asked by the manager to claim the reward in the app knowing that it would not go through and probably wasted that reward because reeards are only good for a couple of hiurs otherwise you lose the chance to claim that reward. read more

Lost one star because i bought two items( a chocolate filled croissant and a custard pastry with fruits) and the croissant filling was too bitter which left a strong flavor in my mouth. Bakery are only fresh in the morning. They have food leave out all day, and not in a refrigerator. One time I brought some desert home, the were stale. Last week we took our daughter for egg tart. Their branches are all of the world, which is both exciting and convenient no matter where you are. I first visited their Boston bakery, and I'm thrilled to find them in Asia and subsequently in NJ as well. I'm a fan of a lot of their breads, especially their loaf breads. The milk bread (made with real milk!), pumpkin bread, whole grain and seasame loaf breads rank amongst my top choices. They make convenient options for breakfast everyday and one lasts me the entire week. The only downside is I feel their breads (as well as drinks and desserts) are slightly overpriced, but coming from WI the standard of living in NJ is much higher anyways. There is free wifi and decent number of tables inside and outside. It's nice to sit around do some work or catch up with friends. I'm not a fan of their bubble tea, the taro version is lacking in tea and while the plain milk tea is only average, so neither impressed me. I would go for their shaved ice, the serving is huge so you can share with your friends, especially great for the summer time, as well as their macha green tea. They also offer loyalty cards for bread loaves, get one loaf free after the ninth loaf =) read more

To be fair, this might not bother most people but I found it pretty nauseating. The majority of their pastries are out in the open, unwrapped, in displays which are below waist level. When I was there, there were a bunch of children excitedly running around the displays (can't blame them, the food looked really good) and at their height, basically breathing all over the pastries. On top of that, I saw one child holding the tongs, which are used by everyone to select and put the pastries on your tray, and she had it against her face and was licking it. That lack of basic hygiene and seeing what I saw resulted in me not even trying any of the pastries. So I'm sure they're good, as other reviewers said but I lost my appetite for them there. Perhaps taller displays so children aren't breathing on it and adults aren't bending over to get a closer look would be a better idea. Lastly, I decided to at least get a fruit smoothie. And this was what prompted me to actually write the review. I expected a fresh fruit smoothie for about $6 but instead, the guy dumped a bunch of ice and poured some juice from a bottle into the blender and that was it. I've been looking for a decent cronut place in Jersey and boy did I find one. The store is located inside a huge plaza so there is plenty of parking. Nicer temperature allows for some outdoor seating. There is casual seating in the inside with a great ambiance. You can either choose pre-packaged goods or grab one of their trays and choose some of their daily made delights. They also accepts card here! Blueberry Yogurt Cronut | ($3.75) Felt like I was biting into a piece of heaven! There were many crunchy layers toasted to perfection. A lot of cronuts I've tried in the past were way too sweet with their filing and/or icing combination however this one had a perfect balance with sweet and tang. Sweetness from the blueberry and tang from the yogurt. When you're eating it you're going to make a mess and your fingers will be greasy but oh totally worth it. Organic Mango Smoothie with Bubbles | ($4.95) Typically I've tried the flavored green or black tea with the bubbles but this would be my first smoothie and it was as expected. It was sweet but not too sweet. It reminded me of an Indian drink called Frooti Tootie (mango juice in a box) just with bubbles added. To the mango purée they added some powders which might have been stabilizers or flavor enhancers but I'm not sure. None the less, it tastes great! Whenever I come here, I just want to load everything on to my tray and hoard it back home. The ambience in the bakery itself is really nice and reminiscent of the cute cafes you see in Korean dramas -- perfect for a date or dessert with some friends. What I really appreciate about Paris Baguette is the variety of products -- ranging from European pastries (macarons and croissants) to Asian baked goods (red bean buns and pineapple bread). While everything isn't exactly "cheap", you certainly get the quality that you pay for. The berry tart is also delicious, light, and fresh... and great for sharing. I also recommend their smoothies (especially mango), as they are also made fresh for you. read more
