Got their Jr Strawberry shortcake and is one of the best ones I've had in a long time! Really fresh!
I've had their cakes before and decided to give their cupcakes a try! This place has limited parking because it's on the side of route 27. I chose the summer special mermaid cupcake which was blue raspberry. The presentation ate. For $3.75, I got a cutesy mermaid cupcake. My only issue with that the sphere sprinkles were very hard to chew.
This is definitely one of my favorite bakeries in the area. My family has been going to La Bon for years and Plpretty much everything I've tried here so far has been amazing. Lately I've tried the strawberry short cake and tres leches. The strawberry shortcake is one of my favorite cakes there. It is not too sweet, the cake is super moist and the whipped cream is perfect. The caramel tres leches was also very good. There was some banana in it which I enjoyed and the cake was nicely saturated with milk. Other things I recommend are their brown derby cake and their raspberry lemon mini cake. Also, the staff is always friendly and willing to help and give suggestions.
My favorite bakery in Edison! The chains truly cannot compete against this place. While I usually stop by for one of their monthly weekend specials or a cake for a celebration, (which you MUST get a brown derby for; I cannot find another bakery who makes one like La Bon!) today I stopped by for some treats for a little picnic. They have such a huge selection, from cookies to cupcakes, cakes to bread, you are bound to find something for you here. On today's trip, I bought 2 of the banana split cupcakes, 1 key lime cupcake, 1 mango mousse cupcake, and 1 macchacino cupcake. All of them were moist and flavorful, but my favorite was definitely the banana split! Such a beautiful and unique take on a classic ice cream dessert with surprise pineapple filling. Parking is a bit limited, but I have never had a problem with it since most people are in and out since the service is so friendly and fast. A little note that if you are planning to buy a haul, being your own reusable bag! Or you can purchase one of theirs for about $1.25.
Shout out to La Bon bake shoppe. My family has been ordering cakes from here since before they were la bon. They have always been on point and have never let us down on any occasion. I ordered a lakers cake once again for my 27th birthday and it came out much better than I expected. vanilla frosting with strawberry/ vanilla filling. Very soft and sweet on the inside as well. Lakers logo in the top was absolutely beautiful. My family enjoyed it and my coworkers did as well. Much love to yall and I hope more customers come your way because of this .
Love the weekly specials!! Cakes are moist and flavorful! The focaccia bread makes great sandwiches!
This is by far my favorite bakery. I always order cakes from here. The rosette cake is a fav of mine and everyone else I know any function I attend my friends and family always ask me to get the rosette cake. The will prepare it with any color and glitter for you and it's yummy fresh fruit and vanilla custard my favorite. This year my daughter wanted a minimalist cake. I gave them the pic and omg it came out great just like the pic, once again everyone loved it and of course yummy oh and did I say reasonably priced yes that too
My go-to cake store since I was a kid! I've never had any issues with getting a cake last minute and service is always outstanding here!! My favorite cakes here are the mango mousse cake AND the vanilla/chocolate derby. Give them a try! They're both crowd pleasers. If you're buying a cake for a birthday or event, tell the cashier and they're make a custom sign for your cake. This time around I tried their Valentine's day specials and pastries, and I wasn't as pleased with them. But maybe I'm just too biased towards the mango mousse cake? What I got: - Junior Chocolate Swirl Strawberry Cake: 5/5 - I'm not a big chocolate cake person, but this was stellar! The cake itself was rich, but not too sweet. The strawberry cream was light and complimented the cake well. And the star of the show, the strawberry jam in the center of the cake truly added a new dimension to the cake. I was completely WOW-ed by this. - Chocolate Chip Cookie: 3/5 - I was expecting this cookie to be amazing, but I thought it was pretty average. I was disappointed at how stale it was, but the flavors were there. - Small Cannoli: 4/5 - Good classic cannoli!! Great place to buy your cakes!! But I was not impressed by the pastries this time around. I used to love all of their pastries, so maybe it was just an off day that I went? But the cakes have never failed me.
I'm another patron who's been coming for years but have never written a review! But that just means the 5 stars are solid. I first started coming here after I heard about their hamburger cakes. After that, I went anytime I needed a really good quality cake. My favorite order was a chocolate cake with cannoli filling and fudge icing! So rich! There are specials every month and even every week, so if you have a sweet tooth, you can regularly spoil yourself with specialty cakes and treats. The cupcakes I got this past weekend finally got me to writing this review. I got a variety that included a banana split flavor: banana cake with pineapple filling, topped with an icing sundae. Believe me, it's all as good as it sounds!!! The lady who packed the cupcakes was very sweet, too :)
This place is amazing I've come here to get cakes all the time and never am I disappointed. The cupcakes here aren't bad either.
They made this cake from a photo idea. It was extremely fast & affordable. I will be making an order again from them in the future. I loved their service! TY!

This has been one of our go-to cake shops in recent times. We have had our kid's cake smash cake also ordered from here and occasionally got cupcakes for special occasions like Mother's Day and potlucks. The cake and cream quality is fresh and have always been on adequate sugar levels without overdoing. The place looks well maintained and clean at all times. The parking might be a bit tight at times read more
I have ordered cakes from La Bon before but this was my first time getting a custom cake. I wanted to order a custom SpongeBob theme cake for a 25th birthday party and I wanted it to look a certain way. La Bon had a form online where you can specify what you want and put pictures for inspiration. It was super easy and simple to do! I needed the cake by Sunday morning so I decided to place the order on Thursday since it was a holiday weekend and I knew they might be busy with orders. I put in a request for a 8" round cake with vanilla cake and chocolate custard filling. I submitted the request on Thursday afternoon and got a response by Thursday evening that I needed to call or come in person by Friday afternoon to officially place the order and pay. I called on Friday and spoke to Tina over the phone, she was really nice and took her time explaining the order to me and answering questions. I felt for a custom cake with this level of detail it was well worth the price which came out to about $80. I picked up my cake on Sunday with no issues and was shocked by how beautiful the cake came out. It was exactly what I wanted it to look like, the color was a perfect match to the picture I sent in and to top it all off, it was DELICIOUS! The cake was so moist and fluffy and the chocolate custard was just perfect. 1000% will be coming back here for more custom cakes- I couldn't have asked for a better experience and it was exactly what we wanted to celebrate for a 25th birthday. read more

I'm sooooo surprised I've never written a review for La Bonbonniere (now La Bon I guess). I've been going here for forever and I'm never disappointed! We get cakes here for all our special occasions and it's always a crowd pleaser both aesthetically and how it tastes. I'm always asked "where did you get this cake/dessert??". Its always a crowd favorite and always beautiful! I wish they had a regular rewards program because I would be earning some serious rewards haha. I highly recommend their oreo cake, their raspberry chocolate cake, and anything chocolate to be honest. Their cookies, doughnuts, and small desserts are delicious as well. If you're in the mood for something savory their freshlynkade sandwiches are oddly delicious I don't know what they do to make them so good. I'm never leaving empty handed if I walk in. I also love how you can call ahead and order any of their cakes and they'll make sure it's beautifully decorated and personalized with a name in any color icing you want. Some places make you feel like you're hassling them to do this but not La Bon. They make you feel like they're celebrating whatever special occasion you are celebrating alongside you. I appreciate that very much. read more

I come here at least twice a month for cupcakes. I only come when the peanut butter, caramel delight, apple, or birthday cupcakes are available. Those 4 are always delicious! I can't understand why they don't have them available all the time. You can check on their website to find what days those cupcake are available. Unfortunately, I have to lower my review today. This morning my friend picked up a junior chocolate peanut butter cake we were going to enjoy after dinner tonight. It was a steal at only $9.50. The cake was moist, but the cake itself was bland! It tasted nothing like chocolate or peanut butter! The frosting was bland as well with no taste of peanut butter whatsoever! It wasn't even sweet! We ended up tossing it in the trash! I'd still come here again for those cupcakes I've mentioned, but I'll no longer ever purchase any cakes of the month that are on sale. I'd definitely never order that chocolate peanut butter cake again either. read more

Friendly staff and quick service. The pastries here are delicious. It was the best way to celebrate national donuts day and I will be coming here again. There was a variety of items even during this pandemic so it's good to see this place is thriving. Prices are cheap too. read more

This is the bakery where we get all our birthday cakes from, because they are delicious! They do a beautiful job decorating and year after year, we have never been disappointed by their cakes. Some of the ones we've tried are Red Velvet, Chocolate Raspberry and this last one was White vanilla with fresh strawberries and cream filling. I highly recommend them for your next occasion. read more

Cake was delicious, but definitely disappointed in decorator's effort. When instructions say full roses to completely cover top of cake you expect just that from a professional. This could of looked much better...nothing could be done upon picking this up, so I had to let my anger go, but didn't expect this quality decorating. Would of been 5 stars if explicit directions were followed. read more

Hi Camille, we would like to start off by apologizing for the…
This bakery has changed owners from the original family ownership, but they still make the same delicious cakes and baked goods. My favorite cake is their brown derby! I haven't been here in years after moving away from NJ, so I must admit that I had a little sticker shock at the $37+ price of the small round cake. This cake is nevertheless very delicious and for anyone that likes fresh whipped cream and fruit, this cake is for you! read more

I had to order a cake for my engagement and I almost forgot about it because of other things that needed to be taken care off. All the places we called wanted pre orders done before 2 weeks, but La Bon saved us, they couldn't do 2 tiers but were able to do a 1 tier cake and helped us with customization to match our theme. I forgot the name of the guy who helped us. You rocked. You made it easy for us with the wide variety of choices available and was delivered on time. It was yummy. read more

Awesome job on my birthday cake! I got a vanilla cake with banana and vanilla custard filling. It was so good. Only reason I took a star off was because I bought another cake here and it wasn't refrigerated prior to me picking it up so it fell apart as soon as I drove out of the lot, even though it was secure. read more
I have been coming to this bakery for over 10 years now however have been getting treats from this bakery for more than that. Their quality of baked goods is simply AMAZING. You can't go wrong with any item in this bakery however I am reviewing this place finally because of their eggless cakes . Having a family who doesn't eat eggs sometimes makes it difficult to find a really good eggless cake . I have ad their eggless and with egg cakes and let me tell you - you can't tell the difference . Recently ordered an eggless cake for Memorial Day weekend for my family who doesn't eat eggs . NEEDLESS TO SAY- it was a hit . I did a brown derby filling( which is actually a cake they sell that looks like a dome with yummy fruits) So I did a 8 inch round cake with vanilla cake with banana , fresh strawberries, pineapples , peaches with fresh whipped cream and whipped cream icing . It fed almost 20 people with some to spare. It's so light and just the right amount of sweetness . I took this cake 2 hours away to Long Island and the cake was still in tact when I got there .. I spend about $46 on the cake however it was well worth it . If you are looking for a great bakery this is it . My only complaint is the staff there - the girl who took my order cared less to even take my order . I kind of had to guess my own size and filling . The only reason I was fine was because I actually worked here way back when so I kind of know some of the fillings . Also if they could make chocolate cake in eggless that would be great. These two reasons are why I gave this place a 4/5. read more
Quality cakes for any occasion! We ordered two cakes here for my friends birthday. Online ordering, payment, and pick up were all simple and efficient. Bakers and cashiers were incredibly friendly and prompt throughout the whole process. The red velvet cheesecake is a sugar lover's dream, with cloyingly sweet cheese cake and cream cheese icing laced in between layers of moist, red chocolate cake. The brown derby was by far the favorite. Light and fruity, the subtle sweetness of the whipped cream and moist cake paired perfectly with the sugared fruits. I never thought bananas, pineapples, peaches, and strawberries could all work on one cake, but La Bonbonniere bakery clearly proved me wrong. Writing on the cakes come at no additional charge! With minimal instruction, they lettered each cake in a well spaced and festive manner. I highly recommend this establishment for delicious cakes. I hope to come back here to try their smaller bakery goods. read more

Our favorite bakery for our favorite cake. The brown derby cake is one of my family's favorites and we get it for nearly every occasion - celebrating birthdays, work accomplishments, etc... we'll find an excuse to get it! Filled with delicious cream and plenty of fruit (banana, pineapple, peaches, strawberry, etc) , this cake is so refreshing and not super sweet. The best!! read more
