We dined at Parcelles for our last dinner in Paris. When choosing restaurants, my brother and I split choices - with this one being one of his. Judging by the website and other reviews, this looked like a really good spot so I was looking forward to checking it out.
Like many restaurants in Paris, Parcelles sits on a quiet street. Curb appeal leaves something to be desired, especially compared to other spots in the city, but the interior more than makes up for it. It's warm with lots of earth tones - there are tables scattered throughout the space and a bar on the back wall which serves as a focal point.
The menu contains mostly classic French dishes - it's not a large menu but they had a decent selection nonetheless; it's worth noting that the menu changes frequently. We started with wine, and the sommelier gave a good recommendation. For my app, I went with their onion tartine. This contained caramelized onions and shallets atop a crust and served with some small greens and mustard seeds. The tart was good - the flavor was on point and the crust maintained its integrity. The greens and mustard were good complements.
For my main, I decided to get pasta - specifically, the gnocchi. This was an unexpected surprise. I'm used to gnocchi being somewhat heavy and a certain size, however these were small and pillowy soft. It was served in a light cream-based sauce that wasn't too overpowering and topped with sage leaves that added to the complex flavors. We couldn't leave without dessert, and I went with the citrus madeleines. These were madeleines that were paired with citrus preserves and ice cream topped with caramel sauce. It was really good and a great finisher to my meal.
Service was good, everyone was very welcoming and really enhanced the experience. Overall, I had a great time at Parcelles. I would likely want to try other spots in Paris the next time I'm in the city, but I would recommend this spot regardless both for their warmth and offerings. read more
