I've been coming here most of my life. Pricy and I wish they stored their beer in a cooler but always friendly and convenient.

5 stars Ever since I started working in Oradell (July), I've…read morewanted to try this spot and I FINALLY did today. I was at work and called for a pick-up. I ordered a Cold Russian (homemade roast beef, coleslaw, and russian) and a half pound of German Potato Salad. The gentleman on the phone said 10 minutes and that's when I got there. It was packed neatly and ready to go. Rewind a bit.....when I got there, there were only 3 or 4 spots in front and they were occupied, so I parked on the side street right before the place and walked over (about a half a block....not a city block, a small block). It was fine for me even though I am disabled. I also noticed there is a big parking lot in the back. When I went in, it looked like your typical deli/lunch spot. It was bright and very clean. There were 2 people ahead of me but there were a few workers so I was helped immediately. First off, the employees were SUPER nice! Even though it was my first time there, they made me feel at home. I grabbed my lunch, left a tip, and headed back to work. Once I got there I immediately tore open the bag and checked out what I got. Man, it all looked great! German Potato Salad: not what I was expecting, but only because it didn't have bacon.....but it didn't matter. The taste was amazing! Perfect amount of tang and sweetness. Cold Russian: man this was good! The roast beef was tasty and the most tender roast beef I've ever had. No fat or gristle at all. I didn't even need cheese, salt or pepper (although I'm sure that would've put it over the top). The coleslaw was creamy and the seedless rye seemed fresh. As I was eating, my supervisor was hungry and I told her about this place. She immediately ordered a pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut, Swiss and mustard with a side of regular potato salad. She really enjoyed it too! I had sent a pic to my man earlier and on my way home for work I decided to stop there and grab him some grub. I got him a roast beef on rye with mayo and cheddar. I also grabbed a half pound of cucumber salad. My goodness, that was AMAZING too! That cucumber salad was just so refreshing. Prices? Awesome too! Both times I went it was $9! $6.50 for the sandwiches and $2.50 for the half pounds of salads. If I had to complain about something.....i wish they would be more consistent about posting their specials on FB. I know I can call, but just being able to see it there would be awesome. Oh and their hours are great! Most places like this close at 5 or 5:30. This place closes at 6 during the week so it makes it convenient to stop there after work. I will definitely start ordering on the regular. They will know me by name lol.

Today, I called in an order at about one o'clock and the person that took my order said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Charming cafe with friendly, warm service and delicious food. During a recent road trip, we stopped…read moreby Nick's Sandwich Shop, and it was a wonderful experience and a nice respite from our long drive. We ordered the meatball sandwich, the eggplant parmesan sandwich, and the chicken and rice soup. The sandwiches were incredibly tasty, with an excellent marinara sauce and great mouth feel. The bread also was amazing - I think it may have been an Aversa seeded roll. The sandwiches were huge servings, and we packed half to go. It was a cold, rainy day, so we also craved warm soup. The chicken and rice soup was probably the best I have ever had - it had a golden hue, flavorful and clear broth, and perfectly cooked rice and carrots, with just the right amount of tender white meat chicken. That soup was so delicious that we ordered another serving to go. Nick's strikes us as a family business, where they take great pride in their homemade recipes and treat everyone like family. The guy who took our order, brought our food, and interacted with us was so friendly, genuinely kind, and helpful. We also noticed that he was equally friendly to all customers. This is a terrific sandwich shop. Highly recommend.

The steak was very tender, juicy and the chimi sauce enhanced the flavor. Bread was fresh and toasted. Also got to try the choriopan special ($11.95) which is a sausage with chimichurri sandwich was also solid. I liked the skirt steak sandwich the best, it's not cheap but the ingredients are high quality so it's worth it as a treat. If you're in the area and want fresh, made to order sandwiches, I would recommend Nick's. * Parking on premise * gender neutral restroom

Boy, I gotta say I was not disappointed as soon as I walked in, I got a sense that I was definitely in the right spot. The look , feel & smell of it immediately brought me back to my cherished Jersey City roots. Everything on display looked fresh & inviting. The guy behind the counter (damn I don't recall his name) was super friendly & helpful in assisting me with my choices. Ordered the Godfather Sammy, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes & pulpo salad. Everything was delicious ! I travel will be back to NJ several times a year but I think I found my new "Go to spot" ! Just writing this review & thinking about my next trip up (in 3 days) has me salivating for another trip to this place. I will follow up this review with another very shortly to ensure that this wasn't just catching them on a good day but I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed. Stay tuned & I promise to include the counter guys name as he was Aces !

We had a terrible food experience this last Sunday. My boyfriend's father wanted the Sunday Special…read morewhich he hadn't had in years, but it sounded good to him. So we got that to go. When I was in there, I saw the stuffed bread. After a bit of a conversation about what was in them I opted to get two of them one with broccoli Rabe And one with mixed vegetable vegetables. Boy were we both unhappy with what we got. My boyfriend's father found his braciole and sauce to be so salty it was inedible. He likes food and he is rarely disappointed in an Italian meal. But he said it was so bad that he couldn't even eat it. He ended up throwing it away. I was equally disappointed. Maybe more so. There was no way that vegetable roll was made that day let alone any sooner than two days before. It was so stale. It was hard as a rock. And I hadn't even heated it up. I cut into it right after I brought it home. It also tasted stale. I ended up throwing it away too. Broccoli Rabe roll was a tad better. It wasn't hard as a rock. But it wasn't fresh either. It tasted meh. The only thing I was happy with are the prepackaged taralli. They were imported and were lovely. Go there for the prepackaged imported food products. Don't waste your money on the dicey homemade food experience.

Absolutely lives up to the hype!…read more The pastrami is insanely tender like melt in your mouth kind of good. The sandwich is definitely messy, but that's how you know it's done right when its packed and stacked with meat! Even with a line out the door, the guys behind the counter cutting the meat are friendly and keep things moving. They even hand out samples while you wait, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming (and honestly makes the wait easier).

Update: I've finally tried the pastrami. The sandwiches are huge. We got the pastrami cheese…read morefries, and a corned beef reuben. The pastrami is really good and is very tender. The fries are steak fries, which I don't typically love but it worked well as a vehicle for the pastrami. The corned beef is a bit dry. We had some pierogies but these were superrrr oily. We also ordered a matzoh ball soup because I've never had it before. But the second I saw them microwave it in a plastic container, I knew I had made a mistake. It was basically just a matzoh ball in very salty chicken bouillon water. I'm sad that was my first matzoh ball soup experience but am not deterred from finding a real one elsewhere. Based on my previous visit and this one, it seems like you should just stick to a classic pastrami sandwich. It's big enough to share between two people. Next time, I'd like to dine in and eat it fresh. The sandwiches also come with a bunch of pickles, which was nice. Tip #1 - there is a parking lot but because there are so many stores and it's next to Bratek Deli, it's a nightmare. It did also happen to be Good Friday, so maybe that made it worse? I don't remember it being that bad the first time around. Tip #2 - I called ahead to place my order but still had to wait 15 minutes extra after the quoted time. They prioritize walk-in customers, so you might as well just order in store.
