Families on picnic blankets. A live band playing under the tree. People dancing on their own. It's magical. The wine was freaking delicious. The charcuterie was good. The service was good. Nothing stood out either way on the service, but with everything else going on, I genuinely didn't pay attention. This isn't a quiet, learn-about-your-tannins kind of tasting. It's a hangout, and it's the kind of afternoon you'll be talking about long after you go home. A must on any Valle trip. Unfortunately we went through the San Ysidro border crossing back to Southern CA and found out that the max limit is 1 liter of alcohol (about 1 to 2 standard bottles) ever 31 days. We bought bottles of wine from 2 other wineries as well. Fortunately, US Customs and Border Protection let us go with a warning and did not confiscate our wines!

The wines were good. My friend fell in love with the first one, a white whose name apparently meant LOVE in the local dialect. Very on brand for her. ‍ We also tried their cheese breads - they had savoury and sweet options. I was team savoury while my friend was all about the sweet because balance, right? I never knew Baja California had its own winery and olive oil factory. We tasted 3 wines and 5 olive oils -- the wines were okay for my palate, but the olive oils were excellent. Paired with bread and cheese, it was honestly divine. The employees were friendly and shared interesting background information about the winery. The space is small, but it comfortably accommodated our group of 35 with enough room to move around. Overall, a good stop on the tour and a nice way to experience a local flavor of Ensenada. salud!

I don't know where to even begin with my review of our experience at Trevista so I will begin with…read more"Hay no coincidencias" I had saved Trevista before our visit and didnt realize the requirement for pre reservations at most places in the Valle rather than just winging it so I emailed on Friday hoping to manage a reservation for the next day. I was thrilled to see an email on Saturday saying we were welcome for the 2nd tasting of the day and then filled with panic as I saw when it was sent, didn't have service and that time was quickly approaching. Thankfully i got wifi, replied that we would love to be there, got a reply saying we were good to go and off we went. I will thank our luck a large amount on the weather as many people cancelled due to pouring rain and flooded roads. The roads are rough, especially in the rain so a larger vehicle or a tour driver would definitely be beneficial but we made it happen. Upon arrival we were greeted with hugs, conversation, drinks and blankets and it honestly felt like we just showed up to the home of a family member. With the weather, it ended up just being the two of us and another couple who drove out for the day and previously was married at the vineyard which made for the most intimate afternoon tasting. My fiancé (oh that's still weird to say haha) is not really a wine drinker and I don't usually drinks reds but we both loved all 3 years of the tasting and the tapas that come with each were so delicious. One of the pairings was a taco with meat that I don't eat so I gave it to him and was more than thankful when Hilda noticed and asked her team to make a potato taco for me to take part. With the impeccable vibes, Carlos decided this was the right time and place and completely unbeknownst to me he had let James and Hilda know about his plan and they assisted in the greatest intimate proposal I could have ever dreamed of, rain and chilly temperatures and all. After our tasting we all spoke around the table like we had known each other for years and it really was the most special day and experience I could have ever asked for. We will definitely be back sooner than later, especially since we both fell in love with not only the humans on site but vineyard good boy Corcho.
