Excellent food!! We had a beautiful meal and wines. Great winery staff were excellent. Tones of tables with a view of the winery vines.

This was a great afternoon stop because the food was great in addition to the wine. The queso fundido and tiramisu were so good we were scraping our bowls. The outdoor atmosphere and large number of tables also make this a great place to visit.

So we had reservations at the Chateau place next door but upon entry the guy at the gate said they weren't open... but I made a reservations at that time? Hmm, the guys told us to come here... we're glad we did! The wines, tbh wasn't that great, it was ok. They specializes in Cab Franc but just not what we liked. We also got sangrias and that was tasty. The food is great though. We got the aguachilles and chicharrones octopus. The aguachilles was excellent. Perfect amount of citrus. The octopus chicharrones was fried to taste like chicharrones, you make tacos with it. It was too fried in my opinion, but wasn't bad. Views were great. AC inside. Friendly service. Oh they charge $25 pesos (about $1.25) for Costco bottle water, they don't tell ya also.

We happened upon here as a happy accident. We had reservations at the Chateau next door, but the doorman told us they were closed when we arrived and suggested we go next door. Hm, sounded kind of sketchy, but it ended up being the prettiest winery we went to that day. The service was also excellent. I didn't like any of their wines (norm for me in Valle), but their sangria was delicious.

Delightful winery. We had a large party and were seated in a room upstairs with spanning views of the vineyard. There was a large boardroom-like table, as well as a couch and coffee table. The red wines were very delicious. We enjoyed our bottle of the house blend. Additionally, they've serve very tasty food. We shared a variety of dishes including wood-fired pizza and quesadilla. Staff was courteous. To top it off, we witnessed a man proposing to his girlfriend in the vineyard. AND SHE SAID YES!! Overall, a very pleasant a memorable experience.

Our Second Stop on our YEE wine tasting adventure with Boca Roja Baja Wine Adventure Tours. Vine De Frannes is a modern vineyard nestled on the valley of Vista De Gaudelupe. According to their website their motto is It is a real prowess to turn the fruit into great wines" as quoted by Ernesto Álvarez Morphy Camou Winemaker, Viña de Frannes Viña de Frannes, was born under the wonderful Mediterranean weather of Valle de Guadalupe, with the purpose of planting the best fruits to transform them into the most delicious and aromatic wines. They work "under the supervision of Michel Rolland, who has the knowledge and skills to bring you, the graces of the vine, in a magnificent wine collection." The selection of the grapes, their facilities, the equipment, the technology, staff and their dedication to carry out this great transformation, is what sets them apart. What does this vineyard have? It has character! Great selections of wines, awsome views, a prIvate tasting room that one can reserve 3 days prior for a large group, and an on site resturant that has a variety of eats. We were greeted by their welcoming staff and had the vineyard all to ourselves. Loved it! We were given a cheese and bread plate. Wine # 1 Sauvignon Blanc 2017. Was my favorite! Im going to purchase it. Roughly $24 why not?! Wine #2: Chardenay is fermented in oak. The Chardenay is so goood!! $670 peso / $33.68 USD Wine 3: Cabernet Franc per bottle $33.68 USD. It was a bit too bitter for my taste although others in my group liked it. Wine 4:Merlot : was not bad. It was one of my favorites along with Sauvignon Blanc. USD $33.68 / $670 Pesos. Alot of us liked the smoothness to this one than the Cabernet Franc. Wine 5: Pater: Cabernet Sauvignon mixed with Merlot ( Red). They ferment whole grapes in new barrels and this mix was a good blend of tart and dry. $100 USD per bottle. Thank you for the opprtunity to experience this venue . Your wines are amazing and Im ordering wine today!!!

This was the last winery we went to before we headed to La Esperanza for dinner, which was nearby. We rolled in around 5 pm and the people were very nice. They gave our group of 8 a private room upstairs for our tasting. We ordered: - a red wine bottle - a bottle of rose - cheese board Great service! The lady that was helping us was informative and had great character! The winery was beautiful as well and a great space.

Very nice place. Off the beaten path. Super quiet and a great view of the mountains. The Cabernet Franc is recommended from other as one of the best in the Valle. Plenty of seating inside and out. Staff is friendly and Accommodating. Very pretty place.

    My favorite red wine.

Amazing winery with exquisite food, wine and knowledgeable staff. We started with their octopus chicharron and large fresh clams under the recommendation from our server. He also customized our wine tastings based on our feedback. This is a great place to hang out and chill with friends or family that you a reconnecting with. The view is stunning and relaxing. This is a hidden gem and off the path, but worth it. A must if you are in Valle de Guadalupe.

I've been coming to the valley for over 35 years and I've been here maybe 300 times. It's my first time to this Vineyard, because I've always waited to come here when they were were less people. I arrived on a Tuesday to find that only two couples were here. The Vineyard is beautiful with a very simple and modern, yet rustic architecture. I decided to do their tasting of Premier wines for $27. I've noticed over the last 10 years that many vineyards in Valle have increased their prices not only on the tastings but on the bottles themselves. I really don't like doing this but I am forced to compare the quality of the wines to wines that I can get from Europe at a fraction of the cost that actually taste better but since I'm here I try to enjoy the experience and not compare. I recently was in Bordeaux and tasted some incredible wines at 1/3 of the price. But I guess you have to get to Bordeaux first to taste them , ha ha Ha. The second wine is a 90%cab franc 10% merlot. A nice body but a bit bitter on the back of the throat. The third wine is a 2017 90% merlot and 10% franc. It must have reached its peak 2 years ago. It was overaged. The fourth is 70% cab sav and 30% merlot. This Pater wine is delicious. The last wine is a sweet wine called Duz. It is great with chocolate or a sweet desert. It is yummy.

    Daniel R.

Best winery of Guadalupe. The make fine wine, experts. This wine competes with Napa and France wines. The owner is an expert passionate wine maker, doing it for at least 40 years plus. Pater cab is the icon. Order it on line and you get them deliver in the US. Bravo. Btw the winery is beautiful.

My friends and I weren't too sure of how the process would be since they picked us up after we walked across the border. We booked our rides through WhatsApp and the communication was super easy. They were super responsive, and the day before our designated rides, they shared the driver's number for us to connect directly. Our driver down to Valle was named Elias and made the whole process so simple! He picked us right outside of where we came out after crossing the border. He was super friendly and wanted to make sure we were comfortable for the drive. He told us a little bit about Valle and how he's lived there for 25 years. On my way back, I had a different driver, who was Natalie. She was super nice and the ride back was so quick, probably because it was the morning and traffic wasn't too bad in Tijuana yet. She was helpful in directing me to find the line to cross the border. Without the direction from her, I would have definitely been confused. They made this whole process so seamless! They were on time and available for all the questions I had leading up to the rides as well. I will for sure use them in the future any time I'm traveling somewhere driving distance in Mexico!

This place is located in the Valle de Guadalupe, Baja Mexico. I wasn't always a fan of the wine…read morefrom this area. But over the last two decades they have made large strides in quality with new modernization techniques. Besides all of the wine makers that have been here for generations, others (Spain, France, and Italy) from around the world have joined in wine making in the area. The area has all of the basic ingredients (proper climate and soil) needed to make great wine. The area sits in the same latitude as the great wine making areas of the Mediterranean. As a result, now I am a big fan of the area's wine. Now many compare the area to Tuscany Italia before the big tourist rush occurred. The greater area is also home to many Michelin rated restaurants with a great ocean/farm to table menu (carta). Organic and sustainability are fully represented in restaurants as well. If you love seafood, then this place is heaven because of the abundance of fresh seafood from both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific. I predict that once the new airport in Ensenada is built then this place is going to explode with tourism. Currently, having to fly into Tijuana then take a bus or private transport has been the only way to reach this area from most places in the US with the exception of southern California. People in southern California are lucky enough to drive down for a weekend because it's just that close to them. It's the equivalent of people from Chicago spending a weekend in wine country in Michigan, Indiana, or Wisconsin. In all honesty there is no comparison because most wine in the Midwest is mediocre at best. The problem in the Midwest is the climate extremes which are not suitable to most popular wine varietals. Even when I do find wine from the Midwest that I like, it usually has at least $50-$60 price tag. At a typical grocery store in Spain or Portugal very good bottle of wine is sometimes cheaper than a bottle of water! Under $10 a bottle pricing gets you very good wine, above that you can have even better quality. The winery is beautiful even in the winter. I like to visit in the winter because although it's not super warm here, I go from wearing a winter jacket to wearing a light jacket or sweater. The nights can drop into the 40s which is still much better than a winter polar vortex back home. There is a lot less people, therefore, I can also get into the best restaurants in the area. My rental flat had absolutely no neighbors until the last day when it was time to leave. The isolation was very nice because the grounds are beautiful and very full of life. A huge assortment of birds make this their winter getaway from the harsh winters up north. Citrus fruit was in season down here and the neighboring property had an orchard of trees filled with oranges. The property has a few nice pathways to walk after mealtimes. I also enjoyed the outdoor wine tour which explores the different varietals fields with an enthusiastic guide that was quick witted with jokes. The wine pourings that accommodate the tour were delicious and wisely chosen. I also opted to take the wine cave tour right after the outside tour. How was the cave tour? It was disappointing and frustrating. First of all, as I patiently waited to be taken down to the cave from their gift shop area they forgot about me. They have a list of who is supposed to go down and yet they still went down without everyone?!? Finally a cashier notices that I'm just walking around not shopping and asked me if I was waiting for someone. I told him that I was waiting for the cave tour to begin. He got a hold of the tour guide who had already gone down with some of the group and he came up to retrieve us. Those that were already in the cave, already had been served food that was optional to order with the tasting. After several pourings in the previous tour, yes, I was ready to have some food to lessen the impact of more pourings. Also, they had a nice selection of items that would complement the pourings. Somehow, they forgot about me again, and I noticed others were getting a different presentation than I was on the same tour. Okay, now a sense of frustration is overcoming me and I mention the oversights to the guide. He lied to me and told me that the others had a different level of wine tasting. This disorganized tour was also set up backwards because there should have been a walking tour of the fermentation area first then tastings afterwards. Besides the bad cave tour that I definitely don't recommend. Everything else was great with the exception of the cold washroom on cold nights. They have very nice employees, beautiful grounds, very good breakfast, and a great dinner restaurant called Latitude on the property. Would I come back? Yes, because besides a few frustrating moments the rest was great.

About an hour and a half drive from the US/Mexico border stands El Cielo ready to welcome you into their quiet neighborhood surrounded by lush lands and hills often grazed by their many cattle and other livestock. Within the vicinity, you'll find little, but a few high end eateries exist. The dirt paths are roads less travelled, however, you're not too far from the port city of Ensenada. As you drive into the long entrance to the main lobby, you'll notice the openness of it all. The horizon is just barely obstructed and the land is extremely flat with the exception of the hills nearby. The property has a lake and serves as a beautiful and serene place to take a walk. In the evenings, the stars are extremely clear and bright against the pitch dark sky. Bask in the tranquility as the only sounds you'll hear are the occasional croaks from the native frogs or chirps of crickets and whistling night breeze. If you came during the day, however, and haven't melted already, the first step out will be a shocker due to the immense heat you'll feel being just a smidge closer to the equator. The staff greeted us with some cold glasses of refreshing white wines as we checked in. Upon getting our suite and room keys, they offered to shuttle us to our rooms but if you drove in yourself, feel free to drive on over and park in the driveway. For those with electric vehicles, they do have charging available right outside each suite. The rooms are spacious, well ventilated and adequately illuminated. The beds are soft and the mattress and pillows are super comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and modern; water pressure is good. Amenities were appreciated - bottles of drinking water (was told to refrain from consuming water from tap in Mexico so this was a big plus), clean towels, hygiene and supplemental kits were available, and mirrors were abundant (long, standard, and close up). Each room also comes with a TV and localized air conditioning and fan unit, giving full control over room climate. There's also a balcony but it was much too hot to be out during the day. The evenings were cool and provided a nice place to sit back and enjoy the stars. There's a shared outdoor pool, a gymnasium and a chapel house. I only got to use the pool and it was relatively clean aside from the occasional bug that might have fallen in. There were towels and chairs for patrons to use. The lake was a nice stroll but it's not too big and much of the path is fully exposed to the sun. Breakfast occurs between 8-9:30 am at the main building on the second floor. They'll check you in at the front desk for your name and room number and you'll have the option to sit indoors in the dark but elegant dining room or outdoors on the patio. The food is self service and included a variety of options including eggs, beans, meats, dairy, nuts and fruits. They also have a dessert section where I got to try a chia seed parfait with fresh berries. Orange juice and coffee are also served with your meal. The service is phenomenal here. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. For non-Spanish speakers, it wasn't too difficult to communicate our needs. Overall, El Cielo is a great vacation spot to disconnect from all your worries and engage in the present. There's not a whole lot to do here specifically, but the downtime offers room to connect with your loved ones. With its proximity to other hot spots and eateries, El Cielo proved to be a humble and comfortable rest spot in between the tourist attractions, explorations, and wine and dining. If you're looking for a place that has nearly everything taken care of for you to enjoy a stress free vacation, El Cielo has you covered. You just need to make your way down here!

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE HOTEL ONLY…read more This property sits a hotel, winery, and restaurant. We stayed at Casa Ocho in Room 7 at Bruma and absolutely loved it. We checked in around midnight and the staff made it ridiculously easy, they were super responsive on WhatsApp and had someone basically waiting for our arrival to guide us to where we needed to be. The moment we walked into the room, it felt like stepping into a desert-chic dream. Slippers and robes waiting for us was a small thing, but much appreciated after our 4 hour drive. The private hot tub was the real showstopper though. Sitting in warm water under a sky full of stars with zero bugs and zero noise is peak vacation energy. The shower in the morning was another highlight: sunlight pouring in, everything clean, and the products actually smelled good. I'm usually picky with hotel toiletries, but theirs were legit. My only gripes: the lighting at night in the room is a little too dim, and the shower knobs took a minute to decode. Once I figured out the perfect combo (and wrote it down like a mad scientist), it was fine. Room 7 also comes with its own private parking lot, which made everything even smoother. Beautiful place, super romantic, and a perfect little desert escape in the middle of Mexican wine country. Highly recommend staying here. Mornings turned into a little ritual for us, a quick drive to the bakery for coffees and warm pastries, with sheep, horses, and cows dotting the road like we were in some countryside commercial. The dogs and cats on the property were basically the welcoming committee. Finding them all became a game, and every single one got spoiled with pets. A couple tips if you stay here: - Don't walk to the Wine Garden or the bakery. Just drive. - From rooms 6 and 7, you can walk straight down through the vineyard to Fauna or the winery. It's an easy 5 minute walk, but know that coming back at night is pitch black. If that sounds annoying, drive- even though it's super close. - Try to have brunch at the Michelin rated Bruma Wine Garden (breakfast ends at 11am), fantastic menu and fresh juices
