had the wild boar burger. It was really good. A little surprised with how many drinks on the menu they didn't have available, but would definitely come back. read more

I'll start off by saying I will definitely come back. They have a great menu, beer and food. I started with a flight, cuz I'm a gentleman that likes booze. I was impressed by the beer list and wanted to try as much as possible. We started with llanpingachos, probably spelled that wrong. Anyway, it was potatoes with cheese, duck sausage, and topped with a fried egg. So yea, paragon is legit. I had chicken and waffles for my main and my wife had had mac and cheese. My food was great. I might be a chicken and waffle purist, but I would've liked a thigh or something instead of a thin cutlet. I can't complain about the flavors though. The Mac and cheese was good too but a little thin on the sauce. I like a gooey cheese sauce that has to be cut with a knife, that's just me. I can't say enough about the service, Twas on point. Overall, great food and beer. And if you're an NJCB member, $1 off on beer and 10% on food. read more

Trapped in the realm of aioli. Beer isn't hard to acquire or serve, food however is a little more complicated. Hopefully this place can update its menu or simply change its name Paragon Tap and Table 2014 aioli zone. read more

I went on a random Wednesday night for a massage at Hand & Stone in Clark after work and when I left I heard open mic night next door at Paragon Tap & Table. From the minute I arrived solo, they made a table accommodation and Abby introduced herself as my server. First and foremost, she couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful in recommending dishes. When a new bartender made a drink I wasn't thrilled with. she immediately changed it without hesitation. Not only was the appetizers delicious, food amazing, listened to some talented locals, I can't even put into words how omniscient and ineffable Abby is as a server with such a warm and inviting personality. It was because of her service I am here again duplicating the compliments. She went above and beyond, I couldn't be more grateful and look forward to more visits.. read more

Someone described it to me as Buffalo Wild Wings with better food. I disagree. Everything is better. Paragon does a great job. My waiter was excellent, gave great advice and genuinely seemed like a nice guy. The burger was perfect and delicious. I'd recommend it to anyone remotely in the area. read more

The beer flights are awesome here, staff has always been great. Nice to have game nights with prizes.

I've been to Paragon twice. It's ok. Not horrible but it didn't knock my socks off. My first visit I had the chicken and waffles and those were very good. My husband had the duck quesadilla with ghost pepper and he really liked it. On our second visit I ordered the Waffle Chicken Ranch BLT (notice a trend?). It was grilled chicken BLT with ranch sandwiched between two waffles. It was mediocre. I was expecting much more. The waffles were bland...they could have done more with them, the chicken was well cooked but they were stingy on the ranch so I had to order more on the side. The fries were good though. Anyway, the dish wasn't bad but I was expecting it to be a little more interesting. Would not order again. Hubby once again had the ghost pepper quesadilla. Our friend order the pizzette. He wasn't too impressed and neither was. It was like Stouffer's French bread pizza. This place might merit a third visit. Not sure yet. read more

We were pleasantly surprised about this restaurant! I been meaning to visit this place after hearing from a friend how good the food was and finally we were in the area around lunch time so decided to give it a try. Service was absolutely wonderful, food didn't take long to reach our table, very tasty and eye pleasing. We will definitely come back, maybe a day they have live music, and let friends know about this little jewel read more

I've always loved Paragon since it first opened, but tonight I placed a takeout order with them and they forgot to put the fries in with my burger. Michael was amazing and not only tripled my truffle fry order, but also gave me a free dessert. They really are great here. Please support small business! read more

This is a great place. First, their selection of beer is fantastic. And I love the service. When I started quizzing the bar tender on non-hoppy ales, rather than guessing, he simply began offering samples of what he thought would be a good fit. Very nicely done; I found the Bolero Ale to be perfect. I was in the mood for wings, so that is all I ordered. They were juicy, and the sauce was good. I had their Buffalo sauce, and their Voodoo sauce. The Voodoo was basically a glaze, and not overly spicy, but had good taste. The ambiance is nice, and the bar is great for watching sports. It has a comfortable feel to it. read more

The food was delicious and the staff were great - management, servers and bus staff. Super friendly and like I said the food was delicious!! Will definitely be going back read more

This place is decent but I don't get the wow factor I get from restaurants in the city. One thing I do live though are their truffle parm fries and their drink selection. I came for their valentines menu. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the Sea bass with lamb. I had a total of four lobster raviolis with scallops on top for around $27. I would not have minded so much if the scallops were fresher. It tasted a little fishy to me but the spicy shrimp sauce the ravioli was glazed in was on point. My husband's sea bass was moist and lamb was decent, however the portion was way too small. Overall, the food was okay but not for what they were charging us. I'll have to try their brunch one day but as for dinner or lunch, it's not worth the extra money for such small portions. I think maybe the burger or sandwiches may be more reasonably priced. read more

Had a surprise party at Paragon last weekend (Sunday) and it was amazing! The positive reviews on this place and the food speak for themselves - it's a great spot with unique and reasonably priced menu items - but I'd like to give some details for others looking to host a party here (which I highly recommend). First, I have to say that Rahul the manager was EXTREMELY helpful throughout the entire process. He worked with me to pick the best meal options, room layout and overall logistics. He even gave me his personal number and was calling me ON HIS DAYS OFF to make sure that I was comfortable with everything. He really went above and beyond and made sure the night was a success. Well-deserved, he just got promoted to a new position at Paragon's sister restaurant, Morris Tap & Grill, so please feel free to ask for Rahul there and I'm sure he'll make your meal or event that much better! We had 20 people in the private room and it was spacious enough to hold even more. At Rahul's suggestion, we had four smaller tables set up on the outer corners of the room, to make more space for moving around and talking while drinks and appetizers were being served. The layout worked exactly as intended and provided a casual setting that allowed people to enjoy themselves without being stuck in the same chair all night. Menu is extensive and if having a party I would definitely recommend doing the full open menu - it gives people more options and ends up being cheaper than the plated catered options anyway. Everyone in our party raved about the food (both the appetizers and the main courses), especially the fried calamari (served with hot peppers), the wings (sevendust is a great, flavorful dry-rub), the Italian pizzetta and the avocado fillet. Beer selection is great and features over 20 brews on tap from NJ, NY and elsewhere in the US. There were plenty of IPAs, some stouts, and even some saisons and sours. I think the "Beer and Wine 2" package is well worth the money: $30 per person for 3 hours. read more

Great draft selection with I think 24 taps, plus nice burgers...definitely worth checking out if you're into craft beer!

We sat outside due to Covid issues. The Scallops entree was mediocre but the steaks were good. The waitstaff needs major training on what it means to be a waiter as the service was not good. Although busy it was not to the point of being "in the weeds" but our waitress was never to be found and not attentive. Never said thank you when giving us the bill and as a former bartender and waiter, I found this the most lacking part of our experience tonight at Paragon. The music was also way too loud so you couldn't even talk with your dinner party- live music is great but during the dining times, it needs to be at an amplitude that still allows people to talk. We will probably pass on Paragon in the future unless it's just going to be drinks and maybe some apps in the bar once inside is more open. read more

This place is okay. I'm not sure I'll be running back. Perhaps it was an off night, but my experience wasn't that great. I met two friends for dinner and drinks and we got a table in the bar area. Our server was very casual, not super attentive, and not around. One of my friends ordered soup and when it came to the table it was cold. The server noticed she wasn't enjoying it and was able to get a new one sent out. I ordered salmon and one of the salads. I asked for medium well but it was most definitely medium rare. It was not enjoyable. I sat staring at my server behind the bar shooting back beer while my cup was empty. I did come here years ago when they first opened and had a much more enjoyable time. Other than the mishaps with the food everything was just okay. read more

What can I say, an awesome gastropub openly locally. The food? Awesome. The beer selections? Excellent! The service? Top notch. The first time I dined in, my wife and I started with the buffalo chicken bacon dip. You take something like awesome buffalo chicken, make it in a dip form, add applewood smoked bacon. It must be bordering on legal it's so good. As a fan of spicy food, I then ordered the Duck Quesadilla. What piqued my interest was the ghost pepper cheese paired with hoisin duck. Wow. Excellent flavor and excellent heat. Warning, it is spicier than you think by the 3rd wedge. I ordered a flight of beers (4 come in a flight) from the excellent tap selection, it is always great to try different brews! We were so full but when our server brought over the dessert tray, we couldn't resist the peanut butter pie. Holy cow that was awesome too. I've been back twice to refill my growler on half price growler night (Monday's) and to pick up food to go. I will definitely be back. Also of note, the Chef came out to engage with customers and stopped at our table. We joked a tad but I told him everything was excellent. Keep it up and we'll be back soon! read more

Paragon - New American Near Me - Clark, New Jersey

I will have lived in New Jersey for about 1.5 years. During that time, I have probably been to this place about 8 or 10 times. The drink selection is one of the selling points of this place. Not only is there a lengthy selection, but the selection changes fairly frequently. That is great for people who like to try new things. This is mostly in reference to beer. The other drink offerings are pretty good too though. I always get the buffalo bacon chicken dip. I don't think there has been a single time I did not get it. Honestly, it is a tough thing to do poorly. I'm pretty sure there is a bucket of it on a steam table in the kitchen, because it always comes out so fast. Who cares. It tastes good. For those people who are bacon maniacs, the bacon is barely noticeable. It's tasty nonetheless. I have tried various other things: Caesar salad, fish tacos, short rib pappardelle, paella, chicken and waffles, and a few other things. I never had anything that wasn't at least decent to good. As I recall, the menu does change every so often. When I was there yesterday, it seemed as though there was just the standard offerings. In the past, I think I have seen an extra page on the menu that maybe had seasonal items or special offerings. Or, maybe my memory is failing me. I do like a menu that changes slightly on occasion. I appreciate culinary creativity and trialing of new things. Because I have been here a fair amount of times, I can say that the service has been good, and the service has been not very good. The best way to describe the service is inconsistent. It has never been awful though. I have been there during busy times, and I have been there when I (along with whoever I was with) was the only one in the place. The volume of restaurant goers in the restaurant seems to be unrelated to the quality of the service. The quality of the service is unpredictable. For people are feel that ambiance is an integral part of what makes a restaurant good or not good, you might like this place. It is clean. It seems new and well maintained. I would call it slightly trendy. There is a separate bar area. It seems to be a pretty popular place. Reservations would be a good idea on a weekend evening. The one thing that I would definitely call mediocre is the dessert selection. If I was rating this place only on desserts, I would give 2 stars (actually, 2.5, but that is not allowed). They aren't bad. They are a bit underwhelming, and seem like a bit of an afterthought. I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I am the type of person who ALWAYS orders dessert, but I have only ordered it one of the times I've been to this place. When restaurants offer particularly phenomenal desserts, I tend to order dessert first, and eat the entree afterwards. I certainly don't expect that from every restaurant, but to not have anything at all appealing to a person with such a sweet tooth that I don't even order dessert should say something. It is just my personal opinion though. Others may be huge fans. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately i thought it fell short of both food and ambiance... I'm not sure if it was just this particular evening (though it was about 9pm on a Friday), but everything was SO BRIGHT. I know it's petty, but ambiance is a big deal for me when it comes to a dining experience/date night. If you can imagine the harsh overhead lights you get from sitting at a booth at Applebee's.... that's what you'll get at Paragon. The cocktails were tasty, but mostly ice. When you charge $9-$12 per cocktail you shouldn't be finished with your first cocktail before even ordering your appetizer. Which brings me to food/service.... We ordered the fried calamari to split ($13). Calamari was very pale in color and (thusly) lacked any flavor or crunch that would make them recognizable as "fried", in any way. The only reason I knew they had been submerged in (clearly under-temp) oil in any was was the lovely oily residue left on our bread plates and the top of our mouths. For my entree I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich ($15) which was extremely dry and flavorless. For a dish that really only required one cooking element(breaded chicken, mozzarella, prosciutto and balsamic), it was a huge disappointment. Especially at an embarrassing $15 price tag. My fiancé ordered Korean Bulgoji Beef Tacos, and they were actually very tasty (though a tad salty). That is the reason for the second star. I'm usually extremely forgiving with reviews, but for Paragon I think 2-stars is more than generous. I would have even considered a 3-Star review if our server had been even remotely attentive to us throughout the night. Unfortunately, we had to wave down a different server to order our second round of drinks (remember the small drink portions?), and finally our check. Anyway, at the end of the day: the drinks were tasty but WAY overpriced, our server was nowhere to be found most of the night, and the food was barely passable at the prices they charged. Some of these things can be forgiven on a busy evening. Unfortunately at 9pm on a Friday night, Paragon was nearly empty. I believe this fact alone speaks more about this restaurant that my review ever will. read more

Came here for a Friday night dinner with friends and was not disappointed. I had the beer burger which was pretty good, I wish it had a bit more of that "beer" taste but it was overall very good and a nice big portion. The fries were absolutely delicious. Our waitress was really sweet and helpful. Since I live nearby I would absolutely come back for lunch and dinner in the future. Food was pretty good. read more

I was so hoping to give a better review but the service was appalling. We sat at the bar. No one else was there and the bartender ignored us. Then a gentleman came and sat at bar. 5 more minutes, the bartender gives the gentleman a menu. Finally he gives us some. He then took the gentleman's order and completely ignored us. I should have known it was going to be a challenge watching how slow he moved ( not for any physical challenge) and just acted like he was doing all of us a favor being there. Finally he came over to us and took our order. I ordered an onion soup and my guest ordered a lamb burger. The gentleman was served a full entree before ours. My soup was then out and we kept waiting on her burger. After 12 minutes, while he was taste testing a new beer with a colleague I had to call his attention to see where the burger was because he never once paid attention to his customers. Her burger finally came out. He never once checked on us nor apologized. He was calling male colleagues and any male customer in the place "Boss". As we ate, we saw him taste test another beer but again he never checked on anyone and it's not like it was busy. Really a shame. Service can ruin a good meal. The burger was good and so was my soup. read more

This restaurant has so much potential. It's nice inside, spacious, has room for private dining and the food is good. The problem I have every time I come here is that the service is SO SLOW. I wish this wasn't my experience every time, but it reminds me why I don't go often and don't feel like returning. read more

This place is incredible. If you are looking for a place with some eccentric, delicious food, and an amazing beer selection, look no further. Let me set the scene for you. I started off by ordering the Spencer Trappist Ale on tap. It was very good. Smooth with a slight sweetness without any bitterness. For an appetizer we ordered the italian flatbread. The pesto, tomato and onions really shined through, while the cheese provided a gooey, melty characters that are essential for a flatbread/pizza. I then ordered the Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer which was also pretty good. It was on the sweet side with a strong ginger flavor. The presence of alcohol was not at all noticeable. For my entree, I ordered the duck quesadilla. It was a in a hoisin sauce with ghost pepper cheese, topped with a pear and plum slaw and garlic aioli. This quesadilla was AMAZING. The flavors were incredibly deep and complex. The duck was tenter with a nice sweetness from the hoisin. The cheese was decadent and had a nice kick to it. The slaw on top was creamy and mustardy. The garlic aioli was very intense. Overall, it tantalized my taste buds and i couldn't stop shaking my head in amazement with every bite. Furthermore, it was probably one of the best quesadillas I have ever had. Overall, Paragon tap and table is truly a great place for upscale beer and food. There is a medley of unique eats on their menu that are guaranteed to satisfy any craving. I hope that you choose this place as I am confident that you will enjoy it. read more

First time at Paragon this afternoon, been driving by the place for years but never stopped in until today. Expected to find a place with decent beers (great craft selections) and burgers, and I did, but the menu is a bit deeper, and the food is really quite good, as I rarely give 5 stars. Everyone really enjoyed the food, but the burgers were perfectly cooked, and among the best I've had in NJ and the prices are right where they should be. And don't go home for dessert, it's definitely worth trying any and all.....p.s. staff is another reason to love this place, our server, Lauren, was great! read more

I've had this place bookmarked for months and finally cake for a Friday night dinner. They have a nice selection of specialty beers. There is a more formal dining area but also a bar. I'd come back at a later time in the evening to check out the bar area. We had the 'belle of the chicken ball', the salmon, the smokehouse burger, and the short rib pappardelle. The burger was ordered to be well done but came more like medium well. The salmon and chicken ball were great. The short rib pappardelle was good but I would have liked there to be less of the short rib sauce mixed into the pasta and would have preferred just a mound of short rib on top of the pasta. They had a pretty diverse menu so i'll definitely be back to try different items. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day dinner, first time here. I like the atmosphere of the place (dimly lit) and our server was great! I can't remember her name but she was in a great mood and perfectly attentive. For my entree I ordered the BBQ chicken grilled cheese, and my date ordered the duck quesadilla. He said his dish was extremely spicy, probably the spiciest thing he's ever had, but he loved it. My sandwich was good, but it was much more BBQ sandwich than grilled cheese, the taste did not really resemble a grilled cheese in any way. There was lots of meat on the sandwich. We also skipped dessert which is rare but we wanted to go home and make a cookie skillet lol. I definitely want to come back and try more items! read more
