Wine flights red and white
Mary K.

Our first stop on our mini wine tour in PA. Service was really great, we were there right when they opened so there wasn't a lot of people there yet but they were very attentive and friendly. We started with the red and white flights which were good, the wine was a little too sweet for my taste, but overall still great flavors. We had an Italian sandwich, the chicken salad sliders and a bowl of mushroom soup for lunch! The mushrooms were fantastic.

Great food, great service and some pretty nice wines! The flights are either preset or custom. I had the dry white tasting. Very nice. They have a few beers on tap and hubby had an IPA from Levante. I had a Caesar salad with salmon. Husband had a burger with chips. The food as great but portions on salad were smallish for the price. Outdoors is lovely with sails blocking out the sun. Nice way to spend lunch!!

My first time at PDX and I will definitely be back! Everything about this place was great - friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious drinks. We went for brunch and got the mimosa flight, which we all liked. Brunch menu itself is on the small side but after 11 you can order from the regular menu as well. Everything was tasty! Took bottles of wine to go which was great. Will definitely be back to try out more!

We love this place! They have a wonderful exterior and interior seating area which is perfect for any time of the year. The staff has always been friendly and open to any questions we have. I prefer sweet wines so I typically get the Concord. It wasn't available today so our server recommended the Catawba. It was delicious. They have a good selection of small bites - we ordered the lobster crab dip w/pita bread and shrimps sliders. Both selections were good. If you're in the area stop by - it's worth the trip.

Paradocx had super friendly staff who were great about taking covid precautions! We got the red and white tastings and they were all okay, but nothing stood out to me. I noticed they were on the sweeter side, which is not my favorite. But the tastings are overall a great deal and I'd recommend getting them! They also sell really cute "paint cans" of wine and I wish I'd bought one for the aesthetic! Like how cool would it be to have one on display at home! I also ordered the Burrata salad and wouldn't recommend it. The flavors were good, but it was a very small bowl of spinach, with a sprinkle of diced tomato, and some chopped up burrata. I was expecting a bed of greens, slices of tomato laid across, and a full ball of burrata in the center.

Excellent service and server, Amelia checked on us frequently and knew her stuff. Charcuterie board was on point and wine paring was stellar!! Highly recommend to anyone!!

I had been wanting to visit a winery and always thought I'd have to travel just to find a good one and wouldn't you know this gem was literally 20 mins away from my backyard! A very dusty, windy, 20 mins away (so be prepared if you are traveling to this hidden nugget of a space). I went for my 30th bday with a small group of fam and friends. We tried their wine flights (which honestly every one was good). Also dived into some food choices, the pretzel bites were the highlight ! They come w a mustard, cheese and our fave: a CRAB DIP. I went home w the Catawba, a sweet blush wine and would be tempting to go back just for another. The grounds are beautiful on a nice sunny day with just enough picnic tables. There's even a stage which looks like they may do some outdoor concerts too. Happy to have this so close to home !

Came here on our little wine tour through the valley. We ordered two flights and sat down to enjoy them. Twice my husband had flies in his wine that we had to exchange the glasses. Obviously not the employees fault since the most likely were in the glasses already or they just fly in. Kinda did damper the experience. We ordered a small cheese board and a pretzel to pair with our wines. Cheese board was pretty good and the pretzel was nice and hot and salty! Wines were okay. There was maybe one that I liked from my signature flight. My husband only like two from his flight. We ended up getting a bottle of what we thought was their best wine and left.

Mimosa flight

This is a really pretty vineyard. Came in on a Sunday for brunch with friends. We all 3 did mimosa flights and really enjoyed them and we all agreed the pina colada mimosa was the best! My company had the hangover breakfast and the crab cake sliders. I had the quiche of the day. The crust was unfortunately really soggy on mine and the eggs were grainy. My friends both enjoyed their dishes. We had the chips and dip platter to start and that was pretty good - we really enjoyed 2 out of 3 dips. I bought a bottle of their "twine" tea wine to go. We'll see how that is later! It's a cute spot, I'd like to return in the summer.

We had the pleasure of having our daughters bridal shower at Paradocx. Laura the party planner was simply amazing. She was such a breath of fresh air, so wonderful to deal with and had such an eye for detail. We couldn't have picked a better person than Chef Cathy to work on our party. She was so professional, talented and so calming. She worked so hard on making the event special, everyone just loved her. The grazing station and the taco bar were perfect. The bartenders Sammie and Alex were so friendly and attentive towards our guests, they were amazing. We can't express how grateful we are to the Paradocx staff our family and friends had a wonderful time.

This is Pennsylvania's "First Growth."…read more There is no other winery in PA that is producing wines at this level. I first discovered Va La while living in PA and reading the January 2013 issue of Wine Advocate, where noted wine reviewer David Schildknecht listed them in his "Best of 2012" discoveries article. What? Great wine being made in PA? I had to check this out! A 100+ year-old family farm where owner/winemaker/hermit Anthony Vietri's turns only Italianate varieties into field blend wines that don't even make sense if you are thinking of Italian wine tradition. Totally unique. Anthony doesn't even like to get interviewed, so you will probably never meet him. But once back in 2016, while photographing the field behind the original barn-tasting room, I heard someone say behind me, "That's Nebbiolo". Turning around, I beheld a slouchy hat, who turned out to be the man himself taking one of his rare days off. My girlfriend and I spent the next 4 hours with him sitting on the deck as he fed us food and wine and told stories about his family, his career, the farm, and his winemaking philosophy. It was one of the most memorable wine-related experience of my life. Yes, Anthony has a quirky sense of humor, which you can see on the various odd signs around "The Little Vineyard" and on his website. The oldest bottle I have is from the 2007 vintage. But my favorite Va La wine is La Prima Donna, which is named after his grandmother (who only passed away a few years ago). It is a complicated field blend of an ~dozen different grapes, made with extended skin contact, but then filtered, so unlike any Italian "orange" wine you've ever had (bring it blind to a tasting and no one will ever guess what it is!). On my recent visit I learned that they've changed the LPD blend (some of the original vines didn't do well). I prefer the 2010-era blend, but it is still an excellent wine. During the tasting, be sure to ask them about the story behind the Nebbiolo ("Cedar"). NO ONE grows Nebbiolo in the US, but for a fascinating reason it grows well here. I won't spoil the story. The tasting room in the old barn is beautiful and they do a $25 tasting of 4 wines (depending on what bottlings are currently for sale ) with accompanying local bread, chocolate, cheese, caramel popcorn, and even figs and frozen grapes from their property. Good glasses. Well worth the cost (which was unprecedented back in 2010, but other local wineries are catching up lol). During my last visit in Oct 2026, I was fortunate to have the undivided attention of both staff for an hour+ until another group showed up. They also sell a variety of other gourmet food-related items. Easy parking out front. You'll occaisionally see their wine in restaurants in Philly, but otherwise you will have to buy on site at the winery. 10% off and a free bottle if you buy a case (can be mixed). Their production is very limited (sometimes only a few hundred bottles of a given wine), with 4 wines being offered at a time. Once they are gone, they are gone (although they have done some library releases), so grab them when they are available. They produced zero, ZERO, wine in 2025 because the grapes didn't meet Anthony's standards. That tells you something about him. I'm sure other local wineries made plenty of wine. They also do a variety of music-related events, and you can buy wine by the bottle or glass and picnic inside, on the deck, or on the lawn. You can make reservations via text message, which might be advisable on holiday weekends. But as I said, on a Saturday in early October, showing up at 12:02PM exactly as requested, I had the place to myself for 75 minutes.

Superb wine, I have never tasted a Pennsylvania wine done so masterfully. Absolutely insane noses on all four wines!! All the food pairings were great. Standout was the cave aged cheddar from Lancaster. This place also feels taking a trip to your grandmothers, history seeps from every detail. Can't recommend a trip to Va La enough!

While their outdoor space is an excellent feature during warmer weather, I wanted to highlight their winter weekend offerings, which involve various food pairings offered in their cute indoor space (by reservation only!!) My most recent experience was their Wine and Cheese Pairing, which is featured every January. Each year, they curate a combination of local cheese and either honey/jam to pair with their wines, and every year, it's a hit. My favorite pairing this year involved their Pinot Rose, a delicious cheddar, and an orange ginger honey that was absolutely delightful.
