Such a cool experience. I found this place on google maps, and bf and I simply decided to come here because I like the name of the place. We brought our own snacks to the vineyard and ordered a flight. I'm definitely not a wine expert and none of the man really piqued my interest, but we decided to get a bottle of white wine anyways. The ambiance was superb. There was guitarist entertaining us and the sunny weather made it perfect for outdoor dining. The place was mostly full, and I enjoyed the chattering. While I can't say I love the wine (tbh what do I know lol), I certainly enjoyed the romantic, calming experience. The drive to this location was beautiful as well. What a hidden gem! read more

Surprised i have not done a review before - this local vineyard has been around forever. I loved the first owner and he had an outsized impact on the local wine scene helping others as they came on the scene. A few years ago - just pre-covid, he retired. It was purchased by 2 gentleman who have improved on both the variety and quality of the wines. I love the Gruner Vetliner and the rose has an almost smokey taste/nose on it. Really friendly service and an unpretentious, "local hangout" feel to it. The tasting room is in a former garage space and that helps Stargazers retain its homegrown feel, while also avoiding the trappings of trying to turn itself into an upscale destination. The wines are all very reasonably priced and provide very good value. The tasting flights are generous pours and give a solid sense of the winemakers vision. This place is a VIBE. It's BEAUTIFUL and FUN and just makes you feel like you're experiencing the best days of summer. I came last Saturday with 2 of my friends. There was a live violinist !! Who also sang!! And it was just such a lovely place. When we initially arrived there was no seating available, but the owner was very kind to give us an ETA. You're allowed to bring lawn chairs to sit where you'd like though, it that's something you're interested in. Around 4PM, the place started to clear out. We tried a tasting initially, and ended up getting a bottle of TINTO - a sweet red wine. LITERALLY TASTES LIKE CANDY, but still a solid 9%. I wasn't as big of a fan of the petit verdot - a bit too peppery according to my friend- and their reislings, but I'm sure all the wines here are enjoyable! Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this spot for a fun time. It just brought me so much happiness. read more

So I have been here several times in the past, and while the wines were ok, it was always hit or miss with staffing, and their never seemed to be anything happening. We stopped in after an update to their facebook, and am happy to say it looks like they have new management/ownership and they seem to be making some changes and updates. This is great, because the location is really nice, and their wines have potential. They are changing the hours, and adding some events, and bringing their tasting room a little more up to date. Already noticed a change in the atmosphere, and will be going back to see how things are coming along. read more

We came here on a whim the other week and were pleasantly surprised how wonderful it was. The owner we met was extremely friendly and helpful the minute we arrived. We ended up both getting flights and I loved almost all except one. The tasting room is a converted garage but very cozy. Average to bland wines in a limited space, Stargazers Vineyard needs some work to become one of the better wineries on the wine trail. I actually really love the location of Stargazers Vineyard, at the end of a road in a residential neighborhood outside of Coatesville. There are two parking spots in front of the glass garage that houses the winery, and walking inside you'll see a small tasting bar and lots of stacked plastic chairs. It was one of the hottest days of the year, and there is no air conditioning in the garage, and our pourer just seemed like he was eager to get the tasting over with and retreat back to the cool back room (despite this he was still very nice to us and appreciative we came out). The tasting is $5 and you taste approximately five wines. The first one we tried was the unoaked Solar Celebration Chardonnay, which tasted off with high acidity and a weird dank aftertaste. Next out was the Grüner Veltliner, definitely a step up with a dry mineral taste. I was not a fan of the Riesling either - too sweet with muted flavors. The reds were only slightly better and very limited. Unfortunately the sparkling wines were on the tasting, which is a shame because Stargazers Vineyard is one of the few in the area that makes a sparkling wine, and I think they should have one on the tasting. Overall, It pains me to say I wasn't impressed with Stargazers Vineyard. I like to champion small independent wineries like Stargazers, but the flavors were just not there in any of the wines I tasted. If you're limited on the wineries to visit, you can skip this one. read more

Went on a Friday morning with a friend - there is a covered area and outside patio - the views of the vineyard were stunning and it was a lovely way to enjoy the spring air. Owner was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about wines. There was a good variety of wines for different palettes, but they all tasted quite nice and were fairly priced. This place is so unique! I have not been to anything like it in California, and I kept getting the sense that this is what a California winery may have looked like some twenty years ago. The place is solar powered and in what feels like the middle of nowhere, where nature seems to be the ruler at play rather than the technology that rules the everyday life of me and you (needless to say I tried to withstand checking my email on my Iphone during my visit). We traveled here on several windy roads which made it seem very majestic and secret (I later saw on their website that they advise you not to use your GPS to find the place since they take you on these roads. Fortunately we were ok that day). The location is surrounded by a field of trees (of which were turning colors at my visit) and there seems to be a little lavender farm too. It was breathtaking! The tasting room is big and open with lots of light. There is nothing fancy about it. There are bugs flying everywhere (which I actually find charming). You feel like you are in a really rustic situation, not in some polished Temple like place you find in Napa (I'm specifically thinking of Darioush Winery). We used little bottle caps to keep track of how much wine we'd had. They called it wine money. The first wine we tried was the Briar Patch Dornfelder. This wine was crazy good, and so different from anything I'd tasted before. It was the jam of jameness. I smelled and tasted the most brilliant raspberry taste when I sipped it. It was so pungent that I had no doubt it was a different variety of grape than I had ever tried before. Reading more about it, I realize this is a popular varietal in Germany and that it is very versatile. The other star players of our tasting were the Cabernet Franc and the Tinto. The CF was very good. I must say a lot of times when you drink wine out of the typical wine spots (CA, France, Italy, Spain, etc) you don't think that you're going to get quality, but this CF was in the same caliber as a CF I had at Thomas Fogerty last week. Though I must say it didn't have quite as much of the earthy pepper taste I associate with that varietal, the flavor was still really complex. The Tinto was one of my favorites! It was the perfect not too sweet dessert wine. I liked it about the same as a late harvest dessert wine I got at Dashe Winery this summer. Super delicious! I look forward to coming back here soon. It's off the road winery. The place is really nice. They also have music during weekends. In addition, they have a fire pit. The owner himself came and lit up the fireplace for us. Of all the wineries in the area, the people at Stargazers are what makes us come back time and time again. Alice is a sweet, wonderful, dedicated, hardworking woman who will talk with you for hours about the wine making process. Stargazers, as a previous poster said, is not frilly. It's not pretentious and snotty, but down to earth and homey. They focus a lot of their efforts on reusing, and also solar power and sustainability. I'm pretty sure I recall Alice saying they have no heating bills! Their wines aren't the standard offerings either, and taste very good. Stargazers Winery, one of several wineries of Southern Chester County, is probably the least frilly while being the most interesting. Stargazers crafts their wine with a high degree of focus on sustainability. They use modern technologies such as solar, eco-friendly agricultural practices, and passive solar design. When we visited we enjoyed a delightfully pleasant and unpretentious tour where the wine was the star but the sustainability was the supporting cast. At the tasting, we both liked the Pinot Gris and several of their other whites and we left that day with some bottles for ourselves and some to share. The picnic area at Stargazers consists mainly of a field and a picnic table, so don't expect the manicured lawns you find at Chaddsford. Stargazers is definitely a more utilitarian experience but well worth visiting to see how wine can be crafted in an ecologically mindful manner. I understand they also do tours for kids to demonstrate how sustainability can be put into practice. They were out of wine already. We had one choice. They kept reserved tables for people who never showed. We were forced to sit out on wet grass on a slope. I guess they have their favorites. No reason to tell the general public that we need to reserve tables. The bathroom has no sink. You have to search around for a way to wash your hands. Most people just didn't wash. Masks seemed optional, since many people walked around without them. We were told that triple fresh would be there making barbecue. It's one of the reasons I came. When I asked about it, I was told just cheese was available. Just ignored the fact that they announced online that triple fresh would be there making food. They get four stars for their lack of pretention and by far and away the best Cabernet in the area bottled locally. Their Proprietors Reserve Cabernet Sav is worth the drive. Up on a hill deep into Chester County right next to the vines so you get the aromatic vibe of the place. Wine is good, people are genuine. It is better than NJ or NY wines. We had the great pleasure of stopping into Stargazers Vineyard yesterday, and we had the best time I've had in quite awhile. Parking was convenient and plentiful, and we were warmly greeted by one of the owners as soon as we walked in. We requested a wine tasting, and found the wines to be scrumptious and unique. The cost for the tasting is $7 for five tastes, plus $2 extra for bubbly. We stuck with mostly whites, the rose', and the champagne they had open. I liked everything I tried. The owner skillfully took care of us while also tending to the other patrons. He helpfully explained that we would be welcome to bring our own food and have a picnic, and that they host special events frequently, including live music once a month. He also kept us entertained with witty banter while we did our tasting, and he invited us to stick around, enjoy a glass after the tasting, and hang out in their spacious and sunny main room. We had a teen boy with us, and he quickly spotted the board games piled up on the side of the room. We got a couple glasses of Brut and spread out at the comfortable large table for a long round of Monopoly while we sipped. It was wonderful to spend a couple of hours with dear friends, laughing uproariously over the game, and not feeling at all rushed. The room quickly filled up with jovial folks who all seemed to be having a blast as well. Honestly, it was one of the best winery experiences I've ever had, and I've been to a LOT of wineries. This was the oddest winery I've ever been to and one that I don't plan on returning to. They have a confusing bottle cap system to use for the tasting that they don't explain when you arrive. I provided my passport and the gave me a sheet of paper with the wines they offered listed on it and 5 bottle caps. My MMM (Main Man Muncher) provided his passport and just followed off with me. One table had red wines another across the room had whites. If you are only limited to a few selections, I'd much prefer the wine to be poured at the same station so to better assess the selections and so that I don't taste a sweet white then a dry red. Anyways, we go to the white table first and try a wine. They ask for the wine money and I had no idea what they were talking about. Bottle caps, said the lady pouring the wine. I had mine, but after getting his passport stamped my MMM had to go back and collect his bottle caps. Don't know why they didn't tell him to take them with him when he got the passport stamped. The wines were alright. Some were tasty, but nothing that wowed me. Like many of the wineries on the Brandywine trail, the cost is greater then the quality. Lastly, the bathroom was one of the creepiest I've ever been in and the sink was on top of the tank using recycled tank water. Thank god for the bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse! I'm all for going green and the sustainability thing, but that just seemed unsanitary to me. One winery that I do not plan on returning to. read more
