It is a small restaurant, tucked away. I have been three times. Each time their food has been very good. They have beautiful desserts and a good port selection. I think it would be a great place for a special date or celebrating with close friends. It is small. I wouldn't consider bringing a large party here. read more

Absolutely fantastic. Stopped in here driving between Portland and SF, and always try to search yelp for some options that aren't just another chain. What an absolute gem and run by some of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. The portions were great, the meal was perfectly well rounded, great wine to pair, and the prices for this kind of place were amazing. The menu was concise and confident, yet still provided the perfect selection of dinner options. Can't get the image of completely raw chicken out of my head. I mistakenly gave a higher rating on my initial review due to other items on the menu being satisfactory, but having one bad experience, and on a Mother's Day celebratory dinner, it makes it even worse. Therefore, this follow up is intended to represent our experience more accurately. No restaurant of any quality would be so incompetent. We can't help but continue to bring this up from time to time as it so thoroughly ruined what was looked forward to as a dinner out at a purported "quality" restaurant. This was my second visit to the restaurant. I had been there about a month ago and couldn't believe the rich flavor of the food. I returned tonight with my wife and daughter and was not disappointed. Each of us had a wonderfully flavorful meal, exceptionally warm and delightful service, and the chef and his wife even visited with us at our table. If you like the little frozen meatballs they sell at Costco, and you dont mind paying $22 a plate for them, then this is the place for you. I can understand a chef making mistakes or not executing a dish well, but when an establishment chooses to sell frozen cheap little meatballs as part of a premium priced meal, there is no excuse. Pasta was typical quality you would see from any grocery store. Pasta was also overcooked, so nothing even executed properly. Service people were nice and seemed to be trying but seemed inexperienced or untrained. I see the reviews dated in 2017 are showing that something has changed here and not for the better. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. My husband and I decided to try this place and it had great reviews so we thought it'd be good. I was a little put off by the one and only waitress/host/bartender that seated us, but I just blew it off..... my hubby ordered an Elk burger w/ garlic cheese fries, and I got the Cajun Alfredo w/ chicken instead of the scallops and shrimp it comes with. I had a dinner salad w/ ranch that was pretty good, although the 'ranch' did not taste like ranch at all, but was still a good dressing. When our food came I was kind of in shock. My chicken was extremely burnt and the Alfredo was just sitting in a pool of red liquid. I thought ok it doesn't look good at all but maybe it is. No. There was zero Cajun seasoning flavor of any kind, no parmesan I could detect, just pure liquid wine. It wasn't any type of sauce that could stick to the noodles it was so thin, like water. I tried a cpl bites but couldn't stomach it. I politely tried to explain to the girl what was going on, she rudely cut me off and stated she asked us how everything was and we said good. Which by the way she asked as she set the plates down.... then when I told her the chicken was crazy burnt she told me it's not burnt it's blackened cajun chicken. No, it's just burnt actually . She was so rude and gave us the hardest time about any kind of redemption for the meal and service. My husband said, we aren't here to not pay, in fact I will pay no matter what you say, it's about how poorly your service is and how bad the food is. We got out of there quickly as I was about to lose it on this chick. I honestly have never encountered such a complete bitch. Excuse my language. She was that bad. This is absolutely the BEST possible place to eat in Redding. The owner is totally dedicated to making a scrumptious meal. His specials are always outstanding. His wine stock rises to the task. Tonight I had medallions of duck breast with an orange-grapefruit glaze....wonderful! The brussel sprouts were sauteed in smoked bacon and red onion, and the rice pilaf was moist. I keep giving this place chances and getting the same result. The intimate atmosphere is appealing. They have local artwork displayed. The wine list is decent. Amazing service! They really make you feel like family. And the best part they have the best food in Redding, Ca. My mom loves the lasagna with the Fernari sausage. This is a very quaint little bistro. The new owner is friendly & welcomes suggestions. They make their own ice cream & the brownie sundae is fabulous. We had the Chef's special which was pork loin with apricot chutney. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes which were really garlicky & roasted Brussels sprouts that were excellent. read more

Service is great. The restaurant is clean and updated. The food is fresh and delicious. You can tell the owner and staff take pride in what they do. Portions and price are just right. We were surrounded by the chain type places to eat near our hotel but we wanted to try something different. We were greated warmly by the lovley little hostess. We arrived a bit early but they seated us anyway, in the only booth. Our server was friendly and on top of all of our needs. Our food was stellar. Their menu was casual and creative. We ordered from either end of the spectrum, I had the Ahi Tuna Cajun seared and my boyfriend had the lasagna. The main dishes were perfect. I loved the Cajun seasoning on the tuna. Cooked perfectly. The lasagna was a huge portion. Delicious sauce and decedently cheesy! (I had to "taste" it twice!) My beet salad was amazing! I am a huge fan of beets. I feel that they often get a bad rap. Not here. Sliced with a hint of red onion, dill and mayonaise (I had to ask!) - I could eat a trough of beets like that! My tuna came with a rice pilaf. Often places like this fall short on the common sides. The beet salad was an indicator of how careful and attentive Cafe Paradisio's chef is to the little things. Fresh, fluffy, the almond and carrots adding a crunchy bit of texture. They had an extensive wine list but I am more of a beer drinker. I found that wanting. A couple of micro-brews would definitely make a difference. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food and the excellent service. Aside from drinking a boring beer, I found our dining experience at Care Paradisio to be outstanding. I wish we lived closer, we would eat there often. I even liked the cute hipster kids sitting outside enjoing their drinks on the sidewalk. Well done Cafe Paradisio. We will be dining with you the next time we are in Redding! read more

First time in Redding. The location was good, but not much else going on in the area. Ambiance and decor was nice. Service was quite good. I love a place with small menu (usually means they focus on the quality of the food) and they always have a special. My wife wanted a glass of Riesling, but the waiter informed her that the only Riesling they had was an extra sweet dessert wine that was only an ounce and a half pour. Disappointed she told him never mind. He went to the back and found a Moscato that was not on the menu (which was exactly what she had wanted). Our food was taking a little longer than others, so they brought us some grapes to hold us over. We passed on appetizers because their desserts sounded so good, which turned out to be a mistake. The entrees have little to no garnish and do not come with any veg. I had the Three Cheese Lasagna with meat sauce which was very tasty. My daughter had a basic penne pasta and marinara. My wife ordered chicken that was absolutely coated in rosemary (too much). Disappointed to learn they were out of our first two choices of dessert, so we skipped it. Most of the meals and the excellent service was enough to get four stars in my book. read more

The food is horrible and expensive. Our first two choices were sold out and we had early reservations. My steak was cold and overcooked. The vegetables were cold. The bowl of mashed potatoes was hot (microwave must have been working). My wife's "beet salad" was simply a pile of lettuce with three thin slices of beet. We were staying the night in Redding and arrived late into town. We knew we didn't want anything like a Denny's and the fast food chains were all closed. Fortunately for us, we happened upon this very charming restaurant. It was 10:00 on a Monday night and we were the only ones dining. The hostess/server/owner greeted us very pleasantly and showed us to a table. Her husband, the chef, suggested an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. Neither did the rest of our meal. The decor was nice, the ambiance was very inviting, the service was wonderful and the food was excellent. Being from L.A. we were expecting to pay a lot for what we had (appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert, and a bottle of wine), so we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable everything was. The restaurant has only been opened for a couple of months, but the owners seem hopeful that business will increase. We wish them all the best and highly recommend them for a meal at any hour of the day. read more

This place is amazing compared to Reddings normal selection of chain restaurants and terrible steakhouses. First, everything was cooked perfectly. I went there with my family for dinner, I had the tuna in a lemon butter caper sauce. Delicious. My brother had the larger steak with mushrooms and onions, it was a good cut of meat and the onions were crystallized and sweet. My parents both got the chef special- halibut with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The fish was also a delicious, thick cut, I don't know where they got a slice of fish like that in Redding but it was quite a treat. One thing that might throw people off about this restaurant is that they, (like many nicer places in larger cities) have adopted the idea of having just a main and lots of sides to choose what side you want. So instead of ordering your enchilada with rice and beans and tortillas coming with it you order your enchilada and then whatever sides you would like. (They don't serve Mexican food but it was a good example) So collectively we ordered the beet salad, (if you like beets-get it. Yum!), two salads ( one was with the house dressing, it was this delicious Tahiti and made we wish I had ordered one too) and their Mac and cheese. Which, that was so good it deserves 5 stars all by itself. In the end we also ordered the homemade cheesecake, it was really good, plain cheesecake with a peach/strawberry jam-like dressing drizzled on top. Everyone really enjoyed their food and we all decided we must come again. (And we're extremely picky) What else can I tell you about the place? Well, it made me a bit sad since we went there Saturday evening and yes there was a steady flow of people but not as much as there would be for the quality of food. It's not expensive- Cattlemen's is more expensive. It has good portion size, lots of wine and beer choices. It's kind of weird that you can watch the chef cooking but, gives you something to look at. I just hope you people of Redding get yourselves together and come here. read more

I discovered this little restaurant a few months ago and Im a repeat customer! The owners are awesome and always go the extra mile to accommodate my needs. Baked Brie appetizer was amazing, however, the rest of the meal was disappointing. Chicken Parmasian was just 2 breasts for $16 and nothing else to add noodles you have to pay extra or any sides you have to pay extra. You'd think they would have a nice hot bread to go with your meal, no. My husband had the New York steak he ordered medium rare with pink, he got med no pink. Lovely bistro atmosphere but not worth the price and if this was supposed to be fine dining please work on your main course menu. Not sure how this has 4.5 stars, it's defiently not up to par to compete with real fine dining, but I guess what can I expect in Redding. read more

My first impression of Cafe Paradisio was that it was very clean, which is a rare find here in Redding. The staff was very friendly and professional... as for the food, it was just okay. My date had the beef strips/steak and I had the salmon with the thai curry sauce. The thai curry was really lacking in flavor... I may give this place another shot in the future. read more
