I have been to many Walgreens. It's never anything special. It's an errand, just another check off…read morethe day's to do list. This Walgreens is different. I've been here a few times as it is so conveniently located and every time I am welcomed as if the employees are truly happy to see me. Today I was picking up some prints that I'd sent from my phone this morning (love that feature!) and as I stood at the photo counter, I watched the cashier interact with other customers. I couldn't stop watching as he chatted with customer after customer as if each of them was a neighbor of his. I didn't wait too long before someone came over to help me at the photo counter. He didn't ask me what I needed or for my name even. He asked me if I brought him lunch, I laughed and told him I had not. He shook his head and said he knew I'd forget and handed me my photos. He must have recognized me from my selfies. I shopped around a bit and found everything I needed and then checked out. Kirk has been the cashier I've had every time I've come in. He made conversation with me, like I watched him do with the other customers. Kirk really makes every customer feel like they matter to him. I messed up my pin *twice* because I'm spastic but he was patient. He and I joked about how I must not be so good with the numbers. I will take off a star for my rating because some of my pictures were cropped in a way that took some heads off and I was super disappointed about that. I don't blame the guys for that but I wish I wasn't charged for those photos. Overall I love this Walgreens and I'm happy to come back again and again.

They all must be miserable.

This pharmacy is the best in Scottsdale. My extended family and I have been coming here for years…read more Best, knowledgeable, available pharmacists around. When my insurance changed and I had to go to a different pharmacy for a few years, I was really disappointed and realized even more so how great Brandon and Hadley and the others at this location are. If people are complaining it is because they are complainers. Every so often there is a clerk that is a bit clueless or new, but that is the same thing that happens at Doctors offices. You get a great doctor, but front staff is inexperienced or vice versa. That is life everywhere.

I had a frustrating experience with the Walgreens I originally used. The staff consistently seemed…read moreunwilling to assist, especially when I called about a specific face wash that I know is covered by my insurance. Despite its $13-14 price tag and over-the-counter status, my insurance has always covered it, yet they insisted otherwise without offering real help. In contrast, when I contacted the Walgreens on E McDowell Rd, the difference was immediate. Although they were out of stock, they explained that their usual supplier no longer carries the product and offered to order it from a new provider. That level of effort and transparency was exactly what I needed. Because of this, I've transferred all my prescriptions to the E McDowell location. They even call to notify you if a prescription will be delayed--something the previous location never did. Their professionalism and customer care are a breath of fresh air. (I spoke with Alyssa at the Scottsdale location)

While I have CVS Pharmacy locations closer to where I live, I drive by this particular location…read moreevery so often on the way home from work. Every now and then, I will stop by here out of convenience on the way to or from work. I have interacted with the staff, purchased random items, and browsed the shelves over the years. I do appreciate the MinuteClinic at this store and have used it a few times in the past. Tonight, I stopped by to use a coupon, and while I found plenty of an item, the price on the shelf was incorrect as there was also a promotion going on, but as I have noticed previously, the shelves have been missing the promotion price on them. The store is sometimes a bit messy and sometimes very clean. It really depends on the day I stop by. There are seasonal items a few rows in from the entrance though sometimes they extend further to the left side of the store (further away from the entrance). While staffing seems to be quite minimal at this store (or so it seems), the staff have been helpful when I have asked for assistance. If there is someone near the front of the store, they have often said hello when I have entered the store. Sometimes they are stocking items on the aisles until someone is ready to check out. Sometimes there is a wait for someone to come and assist at checkout if you aren't using the self-checkout machines. The staff have always been knowledgeable based on items in stock. I have had issues using some of the coupons before, but it really depends on the cashier. I encourage everyone to sign up for ExtraCare, which is a free membership and includes sales prices, deals for you, 2% back in ExtraBucks rewards, a $3 birthday reward, and up to $50 in ExtraBucks rewards at the pharmacy. Then, for $60 per year ($5 per month), you can purchase membership in the ExtraCare+ program, which includes $10 in ExtraBucks rewards per month, free same-day delivery, free shipping, free same-day Rx delivery, 20% off CVS Health brand products, and 24/7 pharmacist help line. Occasionally, there is a $48 discounted annual rate for ExtraCare+ or another promotion. I have heavily used the ExtraCare+ program over the past many years. Also, while the Black Friday CVS deals were incredible a number of years ago, now you can only get good deals but not incredible deals with free items. While I'm a huge fan of CVS in general and the ExtraCare+ program, the stores are hit or miss. I will gladly still come back to this store as need be in the future as I hope that CVS provides the store with more resources to get more staff members.

If you're thinking of heading to this CVS late at night--don't. Google says this location closes at…read more12am, but the store actually shuts down at 10. Glad Yelp has it right because they wouldn't correct it regardless. Misinformation aside, the service here is consistently abysmal. Walgreens had a sign up that they had closed at 7pm due to unforeseen circumstances. So I accepted my fate and tried to make it quick and painless. I guess my hopes were too high. Tonight, I had the misfortune of experiencing the impotent manager KADY proudly display her lack of problem solving skills, critical thinking and emotional intelligence, all of which are required for effective leadership. I don't expect a red carpet to be rolled out at CVS. But how about some basic professionalism? I'll even settle for the bare bones minimum. Instead, the consistent experience at CVS is disdain, laziness, and passive-aggressive manipulation from employees who clearly hate their jobs and want customers to know it. CVS: If you're listening, please stop putting people in leadership roles who lack the patience, competence, or emotional maturity to handle customers. You may be a giant corporation, but every single bad experience diminishes your already struggling reputation. People always remember how they're treated. And I, for one, am over paying premium prices just to be disrespected by discount employees who act like they're doing me a favor by showing up for work. Please do better.
