With our dog passing away 2 years ago there was a clone of him sitting there (but already sold). My heart sank as I never thought I'd see another. To our surprise his brother sat by the glass and crossed his front paws just like our previous dog. Again my heart sank. With a bunch of thinking and going back and forth for a couple hours we made the purchase. The staff were extremely nice, able to answer all my questions with ease. Unfortunately, he wasn't and to come home with us until his vet appointment. We were able to come in as often as we wanted and hold him until the day he could come home. I didn't know I was being helped by the owner/wife during this time. She was extremely sweet, and that made me feel better about purchasing from a store. The dogs areas were constantly cleaned by staff, they wouldn't handle them until they were able to clean and sanitize to ensure safety. That also made me alot more comfortable. All in all this experience was great. I also feel line the merchandise is to par for the prices. Thank you koolau pets for adding a new baby to our ohana.

We also love the idea of a raw food diet for our fur baby - which is what brought us to 808 Raw Pet Food to begin with. However . . . Our dog got very sick after our last purchase of raw food: vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, lethargy and weakness (to the point of not being able to stand without assistance). We took her to the vet for a physical exam, blood tests, etc. These results were all normal. The timing (new batch of food) and stomach issues pointed most likely to food poisoning or similar from the raw food. To be clear, we are NOT upset or blaming anyone. We are also NOT discouraging anyone from raw foods. We were well aware of the risks of bacterial contamination, etc. and it was one of the things we considered when making this decision. Unfortunately, we had a very scary and expensive (vet bill) experience with these risks and caution everyone to take these very seriously. Outside of this, the staff were very friendly. They have a good assortment of food and snack offerings. Parking can be challenging - DO NOT bring a large vehicle.

However, a friend that visited them said that their cakes are shelf stable and can be unrefrigerated for about a month which is kind of weird considering their frosting is made out of yogurt which is hard as a rock and would probably need a chainsaw to jut cut through that layer. the cake itself is really dense too. I found that the owner could be a little unprofessional at times and a lot of my friends had pretty bad vibes and experiences there for different reasons. the Hawaii doggy community is rather small and word goes around pretty fast.
