I just have to give a huge shout out to Michelle and Dogtown Bakery!...we had planned a bday party for our pups since it was their first bday with us since we've adopted them, and we wanted to do something fun and special with them. Unfortunately, Hurricane Lala had different plans for that weekend. It wasn't super bad weather in Kailua the day of...but the power was out around town, and cell service also happened to be down, leaving us all without communication. I couldn't get a hold of the store or Michelle, and I decided to make my way over to the shop to see if she showed up, and if they had power at their place...and to let her know we would most likely have to reschedule due to the circumstances, and also not being able to get a hold of everyone. To my surprise, Michelle was there, just in case we showed up!.....like a true, dedicated, small business owner. We did not expect that by any means, considering the circumstances....but she went WAY out of her way when communication wasn't possible...her own house had some flooding, and she left all that just to show up "in case" we came by. Truly floored by her dedication and commitment to her customers and her business. Thankfully, we were able to reschedule for the following weekend, and had such a blast!...The space was perfect for all the pups and humans to socialize. Such a cute space on the other side!...couches, tables, benches, ball pit, TV's, AC, a cooler, etc...it had all the things you'd need for a successful get together. And they made the perfect cake for all the pups to enjoy! They all loved it lol. Thank you again, Michelle!! You're seriously the best! read more

This was our first time taking our puppy out to Kailua side. It was even better to notice that there was a bakery meant for doggies out there. We were selling our pups first birthday and decided to stop in. The story is very welcoming with a bunch of options for your pet. The cashier was able to celebrate with us by providing a pup cup and a picture taking option at the little selfie station next to the register. Pups are allowed inside and they can take a look at things around. There is also a little play area on the side which I believe they provide some type of service for daycare or play time. We will definitely make this a once a month stopping as our puppy absolutely enjoyed her willful and birthday cake. read more

Dogtown Bakery - Peanut Butter cupcake - Custom Cakes Near Me - Kailua, Hawaii

Purchased the poke biscuits and malasada biscuits. I've found several hairs baked into the biscuits as I broke up the treat for my small dog. But still didn't want to post a negative review until today when I found a piece of plastic baked into it. I will not purchase from this company ever again. They also do not respond to emails. The picture clearly shows a piece of plastic (not coconut particles or fish cartilage). This business' lack of accountability solidifies my decision to post this review. read more

Terrible service! Not only was the cashier rude but they also took over 30 minutes to ring up anything

Always love coming here for their home made snacks. It is a little pricey, $25 for a pack. But my dogs love it! And I love to support local. They also have yummy snacks to celebrate dog birthdays. I got a donut, a pumpkin tart, and a pupcake. It was all a hit! I always come back. They are so nice here. Service is quick and friendly. My dogs like coming too! They did change the inside. Seems like they don't sell too much accessories or dog toys anymore. read more

Amazing staff that really love dogs - and it shows. All the treats and cakes are made without sugars and are healthy. I even tried the Carob brownie and its not bad. Astro was not happy with that! We always have fun here and Astro has been made an ambassador. We get scolded by the owner if we don't bring him! They have a ball play bit and a bar all set up for pooches. It's a fun place for all! If you have a friendly dog and live in Kailua, definitely stop by for some fun and good treats too! read more

I've been coming here for a long time, but I'm done. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. Plus I really hate the aggressive upsell that happens when you're at the register. I've bought both bagged items and fresh; the last 'cannoli' I got there was too hard on the teeth for a big dog and injured his gums. At Christmas time I got the upsell again on little dried shrimp for cats/dogs.. both sets hated them and that bag was EXPENSIVE! Of course you can't return anything if your pets don't like it. The barkuterie area looks cute but it's always empty? I've stood in that area several times for 10+ minutes and no one ever comes over to help you out or explain how things work. It's a cute shop but it's overpriced, and I think other local stores do it better. read more

I am in this store every Sunday. I actually started when Michelle was at the Kailua Farmers market. I started buying treats then food toppers for my dog. Michelle now makes my dog her weekly food and of course she still gets treats. The Barkeuterie is great! It helped me figure out what my Molly girl liked and didn't like and now she gets the big bag of Moo Chews and Venison. Her favorites! Because of her care and knowledge and love of dogs my Molly girl is healthy and happy with a beautiful pink belly which she did not have until I started going to Dogtown and talking w/Michelle. She knows and understands dogs! Molly will be 10 this summer and at her recent annual check up about a month ago the vet said she's very healthy. I know it's because of Michelle! It's tough being a small business in Hawaii. There are businesses that I don't care for but that's my opinion and my experience. People should judge for themselves. But I will continue to support this small business because Molly is proof they know what they are doing! Also my brothers dog loves all of their treats too! read more

Dogtown Bakery - Molly eating pumpkin pie from Dogtown last year. - Custom Cakes Near Me - Kailua, Hawaii

Updated review for 2024. Located in Kailua Town, tucked away in a little corner is their cute little shop. I must say that they probably have one of the cuter shops on this island tho, but thats probably about it. I used to order birthday cakes from here, but they use crazy food colorings in their very hard "frosting" and a lot of my friends dogs had crazy poops the following day. The price point for their cakes seem to have changed as well from a cake that was 2 tier for $25 to one thats around $50 for one tier. Just to be clear I only did 2 cakes with them. I paid for the monsters inc design during Covid + cookies at 75 cents each. and won one cake worth "$75" through a Instagram contest which was the minion one so I'm not sure where the "many cakes that was donated to you comment came from when I just literally won one. I also find it unacceptable and unprofessional for a business owner to complain about other small businesses for a long period of time every-time I stopped by. I prefer the original OG doggy bakery in Manoa for cakes - the frosting is actually soft and not hard as a rock. The details on the cakes at the other bakery are always on point as well too compared to Dogtown. I used to visit this store a lot until a few years ago. A lot of our friends don't go here anymore either because of certain issues they encountered with ordering cakes and other things in between. Tbh I've heard more bad things than good things within the past few years. Till this very day my friends always complain about the dog poops from our cake, so we now get our cakes from hdb when we do our party and gatherings. I also know another business that does their cakes with yogurt and it doesn't turn hard as a rock and is very soft. My friends dog also got diarrhea from their foods too. So it's up to you with what you choose to feed your dogs , for me it's going to be a hard pass on cakes and jerkies from their store. read more

1st birthday for our 2 Frenchies & cake was OUTSTANDING!! Had put in a special request for cake design & if could pickup a day before bad weather hits... without hesitation they accepted mission. Both Frenchies demolished cake which made me wanna , surprisingly it was delicious. There was a few other fur baby bakeries but what made this one pop was their cleanliness, attention to detail, business hours & superb customer service. Also picked up a few doggie treats, locally made with minimal & quality ingredients. Will surely be double timing it back when our cat turns 1. Mahalos Dogtown Bakery!! read more

This place is a doggone fun place for pups and their parents! It is so welcoming. The first time I went there I went sans furbaby, as it was an unexpected, but, pleasant discovery. I saw all of the fun things that my furbaby would l love. Hence, the second trip back. I brought my baby who immediately jumped ip on the bench at the barkcuterie bar. She's privileged because she's the smallest of our pack. We did not forget about the other fur babies, we got everyone their own delicious baked good. We will definitely be back so she can try a shaved ice!!! It's so cool to have a bakery hangout just for dogs! read more

The staff was friendly and the corner store was very cute for our first time being there. We brought our puppy here to celebrate her 1st birthday and picked out a cupcake. She ended up having explosive diarrhea all over my husband's hands. We found out afterwards that the frosting is made of probiotics. Second time being here we, we picked out a birthday cupcake but gave her very very little frosting and only a quarter of a cupcake. Unfortunately, she's been having diarrhea for the past couple days. As cute as this bakery is, we may have to find a new place next year that doesn't give my dog upset stomach on her special day. read more

Amazing products and amazing service! The best by far out there! Everything here is exceptional

We love Dogtown Bakery dba Paradise Pawz! We usually go to their popups at the Pearlridge Farmers Market on Saturdays but finally made it to their store in Kailua. Their shop is located in the same shopping area as Lanikai Juice and Morning Brew. Parking can be a little tricky depending what time you go however it does open up as people are on the go. Their shop is adorable and of course, dog friendly. They have assorted treats, birthday items, cute clothing items, wagwear shoes, and more. Even a barkcuterie bar that holds many different types of treats to choose from. My puppy loves their treats, baked goods, and yak sticks. She is obsessed! Though we love going to their booth at the farmers market, their shop is a whole new level. Service is always friendly and super helpful especially when it's time to choosing. Prices may vary but considering local and using good ingredients, it's so worth it! read more

If I could give 100000 I would! This business is on the corner of the shopping center by lanikai juice and mala market and the taco place. When you walk in you are greeted with a lovely scent of pumpkin and spices it smells so GOOD! Just like a bakery I brought my dog in to get him a cookie and small doughnut for his 1st birthday today They have an amazing variety of treats, cakes, cookies, and accessories for your lovely pup! I love the name Dogtown because Kailua is literally Dogtown, dogs everywhere! They also had a cute ball-pit set up and my dog was obsessed with it. It was my foster doggies 15th birthday and I wanted to celebrate with a little something special for him. I remembered that Dogtown bakery was in the same strip mall as times so I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! The staff were friendly and the shop is adorable Picked up a donut for the birthday boy and a couple of special cookies for my other fur babies. Love this bakery, great setup and Photo Booth for parties and birthday photos. Grateful for the high quality of pastries and treats. Wonderful little pet shop! Definitely place an order 48 hours in advance if you can- it's worth it! I procrastinated and then they sold out of cakes right before I stopped in. But not to worry, they have a nice selection of cupcakes too! I've bought my dogs plenty treats from "fancy" dog bakeries before and they never have liked them- until Dogtown! All three dogs couldn't get enough of the bacon cupcake and beer shaped cookie. They also have a super cute collection of accessories and toys. And reasonable prices! Will definitely be going back to try new treats and take better pictures. read more

It's a dog's life for sure! We discovered this little shop in Kailua (600 Kailua Rd #107) and it's filled with an assortment of nutritional and digestible treats, chews and freshly baked cookies and cakes. There is a Barkcuterie Bar filled with an assortment of goodies that I'm sure your dog will love. Besides the edible treats there are grooming products, accessories, and toys. The gal who assisted us was very friendly and knowledgeable of their products. This is a great place to find those special gifts for your furry family member or for their friends. This is my go-to place for dog treats and I stock up regularly each month. My dog loves the fish jerkies (mahi, ono, ahi) and also the beef (moo chews) and venison jerkies. Dog biscuits like the pumpkin, bacon and cheese and others are good too. They also have some fresh premade food (look in their freezer) and you can order doggie cakes and ice cream. They also have doggie donuts and bakery stuff. People are super nice. They have other things too like cute bandanas, collars, etc. Dogs are welcome too. read more
