Wow. Hidden along the side of a building in the center of Kailua, Over Easy was a wonderful surprise. There is an outside patio under an awning and an inside area with an open kitchen. The music playlist is great. The servers are extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and are VERY friendly & professional. We went for breakfast and were delighted to see that there is a full cocktail menu! Amazing Bloody Marys. The breakfast menu is diverse and offers many unique selections. Great brunch spot in Kailua but closed 3 weeks over Father's Day? How could they! Disappointing.

Kailua, in my mind it's home to many great breakfast shops. Over Easy now has a page in my book of favorites. Staff and service - excellent, food - amazing. Didn't have much time in Kailua heading to an appointment in Kaneohe and checked out this spot I've heard so much about. Kinda knew it would be busy at 9am but, my saying is ... "if can, can. No can, no can. Just try." Walked up to the podium and the hostess asked if I wanted to sit on the counter. YES! and got in right away. At the counter you can see almost everything on the menu being prepared. Saw a quesadilla pass by and immediately knew that's what I wanted. It was the special of the day, Kalua pork Quesadilla, and boy was it good. Even the potatoes were good. Also, ordered some amazing french toast. So creamy on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside. Just the way I like it. My waitress was very pleasant. Had slight conversations with her and another server. So nice and polite. The public parking lot is just around the corner - very convenient. We had to wait for the table but I barely noticed it as we were called so quickly. The staff is super attentive. The table was set up not just for us but also for my toddler (with the water cup with cover). These simple things make so much difference. My husband ordered kalua pork and I got an eggplant sandwich. Everything was very delicious. The size though is pretty big, so you can be sure you will not feel hungry after that for quite a while. I recommend calling 30 minutes ahead to be added to the waitlist, otherwise you may find yourself waiting in the hot sun. There are only a few seats outside (no shade), so you'd likely be standing while you wait as well. They are definitely going for a farm-to-table concept. The ingredients are fresh, the presentation is lovely, and the portions are generous. Although the dishes can be "slightly" lacking, the organic flavors are intentional and I've been consistently surprised with how tasty most things are. Even the Potatoes and Eggs did not disappoint. I love their Sunshine and Apple pressed juices. On the other hand, the seating tends to be cramped and the service can be slow... not to mention it's easy to rack up the bill here. This is a great novelty breakfast spot to bring visitors or post photos on social media. Good food and GREAT service. Our server was awesome. Street parking is tough on the weekend, you have to have a little bit of luck and patience. There is a public parking structure with meters on the back side Utah the Lani Huli Apartments. You enter from Aulike St. The walkway at the back of the garage leads a path, follow it to the left and then turn right down the "alley" looking walkway. That will take you to the check-in for the restaurant. We came for breakfast. They don't take reservations, but you CAN call and put your name on a waiting list. Once you get there check-in BUT the whole party has to be present. The menu is short and sweet. The plates are ample and you can kind share a plate. Here's what we ordered: kalua hash - kalua pork, okinawan & fingerling potatoes, lomi tomato, over easy eggs, green goddess dressing & cilantro - breakfast special pancakes w/ taro/poi sauce - exactly like it says. The taro sauce was winnah winnah chicken dinnah!! potato n' eggs - soft boiled eggs, potato puree, tomato jam,served on a focaccia. This is their version of eggs Benedict. Absolutely AMAZING!!! We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a shot and it was probably one of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time. It was a pretty busy Sunday morning so we were offered to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. We were able to watch the kitchen from our seat. And even give compliments to the chef. Otherwise there are quite a few seats outdoors. Be prepared for a wait and stay within earshot when they call you next as they're very busy. Street parking is your only option too. I hadn't been here in a while, but since I was in the area, I had to stop by. I always go for the "Kailua Eggs" -- I'm obsessed with that broth they do, kind of ochazuke-style. It hits every time. Stopped by Over Easy in Kailua, Hawaii for breakfast and was seriously impressed. I ordered the Kalua Pig Hash and the French Toast, and both were standouts in their own way. The Kalua Pig Hash came out as a generous portion, way more than I expected. The pork was flavorful and tender, served over perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes. You can have the eggs cooked any style. I went with over easy, and they were just right, with yolks that soaked into everything like a rich, savory sauce. Now, I'm usually not a big French toast fan, but their version completely won me over. Thick slice of toast was coated in Cinnamon Toast Crunch and served with an orange crème fraîche that gave it a bright, citrusy twist. Sweet, tangy, and crispy, it might be my favorite thing on the menu. The wait wasn't bad at all. I was seated in about 15 minutes, which is a win considering how popular this place is. They're pet friendly, but be aware tables are kinda close in case your dogs are reactive to others - there were a bunch when we went but our lap dog was a good boy lol. This place is one of the best places I've dined at in Hawaii! We were seated right away for outdoor seating, and our server was just amazing. She was so fun to talk to and gave great recommendations. The portion sizes here are HUGE and we did not have any room on our table when all the food came out! Food came out piping hot and on time. Kalua pork hash is enough to share for two people and feel comfortably full with another shared entree. We opted for the half order of the French toast which was so so so delicious! They used a thick slice of sweet bread with some sort of cookie crumble outer layer (not too sweet) and the fresh cream tasted like a light orange Creamsicle, added slices of dehydrated apple and orange. So so good and such a satisfying meal. For someone not into brunch, this is one of the handful of places I'd always recommend to visitors and friends. I was craving a fried egg sandwich so we made the drive over to Over Easy. I've had a few of their other menu items over the years but literally nothing compares to the fried egg sandwich (even better when you get it with their house made sausage and potatoes). My husband ordered one of today's specials. The braised beef loco moco. Honestly they need to get this on their regular menu! Beef was sooo tender and the gravy was to die for! We also ordered the keiki breakfast which comes with three mini pancakes. These pancakes are really not mini though. They're normal sized pancakes. My daughter could only finish one pancake which left two for my husband and I to sample. It was so light and fluffy. Solid pancakes. While Over Easy can get busy at times, I've never experienced outrageous wait times. Service here is really good and although it was a packed house this morning, our food came out fast. While I love coming to Over Easy, the one thing that stops me is their parking. Since they don't have their own dedicated parking lot/stalls, parking is really hit or miss. My partner and I shared the half portion cinnamon toast French toast (cinnamon toast encrusted custard French toast, with orange whipped cream) and the pig hash (MASSIVE portion). My partner got the hello espresso (like a creamy espresso martini with cold brew - so dayum good) and I got the Hawaiian Punch (cold pressed orange and pineapple juice, rum, and roasted cinnamon sugar --- strong but good). And even though I knew it was too much food, I had to try the kalua pig hash and half order of the custard french toast with the orange creme fraiche. I mean, idk when I'll be back, enjoying this moment! The pig hash started off very delicious. It's enough to split, full of pork, but way too many potatoes for me. I don't eat runny eggs so I requested fried over hard, then it came topped with pico. The green goddess sauce is a necessary flavor component and it brought the dish together. The custard french toast was everything. Sweet, crisp edges, the orange flavor was very prevalent in the creme fraiche. I really wish I had a dining component so I could have enjoyed more of it without sacrificing the hash. But it was all worth it, I was in and out in under 45 minutes. Good news is Sundays all the metered parking is free!
